The demon race... has actually produced a lunatic?
When Shuyi and Shen Zhizhou arrived, Uncle Dayan was standing naked on the high-rise building, a takeout food dangling from his mouth. His eyes lit up when he saw Shen Zhizhou, and he pointed at him, making obscene noises.
After realizing the situation, Shen Zhizhou turned around and covered Shu Yi's eyes, trying to run away. He had no choice; it was just too embarrassing.
Seeing Shen Zhizhou about to run away, Uncle Zheng quickly pulled him over and asked him to persuade the person to come down. Shen Zhizhou covered his face and didn't say anything. Shu Yi anxiously pulled off Shen Zhizhou's hand covering her eyes. She was about to call out to Uncle Dayan when she saw this and silently covered her eyes again with Shen Zhizhou's hand, even using her own hand to press it down firmly.
Before she arrived, she thought Uncle Goose disliked his monotonous work and was therefore having a moment of despair, but she hadn't expected him to be so open-minded, getting into the subject of studying the relationship between humans and nature. Shuyi, seeing Uncle Goose, was also reluctant to admit it, but the demon race… had actually produced a lunatic.
Shen Zhizhou looked at the crowd of onlookers, then at Uncle Zheng who was still holding him back, took a deep breath, took off his coat, and braced himself to go forward and tell Uncle Dayan to put on his coat and get down quickly.
Uncle Dayan took the coat and put it on quickly. Then he pulled the takeout he was holding in his mouth and put it at his feet. He sat on the edge of the rooftop and started chatting with Shen Zhizhou: "Oh my god, it's so cold without clothes. My nose is running from the cold."
Watching Uncle Dayan casually wipe his snot on the concrete handrail of the rooftop, Shen Zhizhou felt a wave of dizziness and his germaphobia kicked in. But he stretched out two fingers, only using the tips to tug at his coat, and tried to pull the man down despite his discomfort: "Didn't I tell you to deliver takeout? What are you doing on the rooftop?!"
"I was thinking it would be easier to deliver them if I turned back into my original form. There are no traffic lights in the sky. Who knew some damned bastard would take my clothes? They were brand new!" Uncle Goose said, sounding a bit aggrieved. He had borrowed money from He Yong to buy them to welcome his new life. He hadn't even had a chance to wear them properly before they were gone. Who could he complain to?
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind. He pulled out his phone hanging around his neck, looked at it, slapped his thigh, and exclaimed, "Oh my god, I'm overtime! I'll get fined!"
After saying that, Uncle Dayan was about to pick up the takeout and jump off the rooftop, but fortunately Shen Zhizhou was quick enough to pull him down.
"Are you fucking crazy? This is the 22nd floor rooftop! You'll die if you jump!" Shen Zhizhou yelled at Uncle Dayan in a fit of rage, completely disregarding his image.
Uncle Goose, looking aggrieved, clutched the takeout to his chest and muttered softly, "I'm a goose, I can fly. People die if they jump off a building, but when I jump, it's like taking off..."
Shuyi heard Shen Zhizhou inhaling and clenching his fists, so she stepped forward to smooth things over, bowed to the surrounding crowd, and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, this is someone in my family who has some mental issues. Please bear with him. I'm really sorry for causing you trouble."
Uncle Zheng quietly walked over to Shen Zhizhou and gestured. Shen Zhizhou nodded silently. Uncle Zheng glanced back at Shu Yi and Uncle Dayan, then walked up to them, half-instructing and half-threatening, "If you do this again, I won't be so lenient. Then the Oddity Eliminator will have to step in."
Seemingly shocked that the police officers knew their monster identities, Shu Yi glanced at Shen Zhizhou, who was rubbing his temples with his eyes closed, then looked away and apologized to Uncle Zheng with her head down. Uncle Dayan, upon hearing this, obediently huddled in Shu Yi's arms without making a sound, appearing very cooperative and well-behaved.
Shen Zhizhou silently led the person back to the company. Perhaps frightened by Uncle Zheng's warning, Uncle Dayan immediately brought a stool for Shuyi as soon as he entered the door, and stood obediently to the side, waiting for his fate.
Shen Zhizhou remained silent with a gloomy face, the atmosphere in the room as cold as an ice cellar. It was Shuyi who forced herself to speak: "Uncle Dayan was indeed wrong, but his intentions were good. He just doesn't understand human rules..." Seeing that Shen Zhizhou still didn't speak, Shuyi carefully finished the second half of her sentence: "How about... we let it go this time and give him a warning?"
Shen Zhizhou's gaze finally returned to Uncle Dayan. His dark eyes stared at Uncle Dayan, making Uncle Dayan feel a chill run down his spine and get goosebumps all over. Just as Uncle Dayan was about to wet himself in fear, he finally opened his lips and issued a life-or-death order.
"The agreement is terminated. Uncle Dayan, you can find your own way out. My temple is too small to accommodate a Buddha like you."
After saying that, he got up and wanted to go upstairs to the lounge to take a short rest. He was a little sleepy and grumpy when he was woken up in the middle of the night, and he didn't want to give anyone or anything a good look.
For some reason, Uncle Wild Goose roared and began to accuse Shen Zhizhou: "Didn't you say you would professionally recommend jobs based on each monster's characteristics and interests? Look at the kind of lousy job you found for me! I was just playing chess with someone on my first day as a security guard, why can't I continue? This time I just wanted to save some time and deliver in my original form, why are you bullying me like this!"
"And you!" Uncle Wild Goose turned his attention to Shu Yi, unleashing his full power: "You're all monsters, why didn't you help me? You colluded with humans, you traitor!"
Shu Yi was shocked and pointed at herself, speechless. She really didn't expect Uncle Dayan to turn the tables and slander her. For some reason, she remembered what Ji Yao had said before, and tears welled up in her eyes.
Seeing that Uncle Dayan was indiscriminate and attacking without any sense of right or wrong, Shen Zhizhou stood up and stood in front of Shu Yi, his eyes looking down at her with an icy expression: "I'm giving you one minute to leave here, or don't blame me for taking you in."
Seeing that Shen Zhizhou was truly angry, Uncle Yan could only grumble as he packed his things and left. As he went downstairs, Uncle Yan spat on the ground and muttered under his breath, "You scoundrel who relies on his master's power! Who wants the job you introduced me to?"
Shuyi tugged at Shen Zhizhou's sleeve, wanting to say something, but Shen Zhizhou interrupted her directly: "My head hurts a lot right now and I need to rest. Let's talk about it after I wake up."
He went upstairs to rest on his own, leaving Shuyi alone standing there watching Shen Zhizhou's back and silently wiping away tears.
However, Shuyi did not give up. Instead, she reviewed and registered all the information again. Furthermore, she issued relevant policies to prevent such uncooperative monsters from happening in the future.
Shuyi wants to help the demon race better integrate into human society, so that they no longer have to live hand to mouth and cause trouble in the human world as before. However, if any demon tries to cause trouble and gain something for nothing, or disrupts the order of the human world, Shuyi will not let it go easily.
The entire incident involving Uncle Wild Goose was compiled into a report and sent to the previously established monster communication group. The latest management regulations were also sent along with the report. The latest message was pinned to the top of the group, stating that if anyone wanted to find a job and establish themselves in the human world, they had to abide by the relevant rules and regulations, otherwise they would not cooperate.
Seeing the supportive replies from the monsters in the group, Shuyi felt a little comforted. Just then, she received a message. Shuyi opened it and saw that it was from Little Sparrow Zhizhi.
"Shuyi baby, I'm having a concert! I specially reserved front-row tickets for you and Boss Shen, you absolutely have to come! I'll be waiting for you, I miss you, I love you~ mua~"
Shuyi covered her mouth in surprise and immediately sent a video to Zhizhi: "Oh my god, it hasn't been that long and you're already having a concert! That's amazing, Zhizhi!"
On the other end of the video, Zhizhi was getting her makeup done, and compared to before, she exuded a bit more superstar charisma. She waved a letter written by a fan in her hand and showed it to Shuyi: "Look, I have so many fans listening to me sing now, and they even write me letters. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't dare to dream of this... So don't think about those bad guys. There are still many people who are very grateful for your efforts, like me!"
Zhizhi made a funny face and pointed at herself to cheer up Shuyi. Shuyi, who was easily moved to tears, sobbed in front of the camera with tears in her eyes. She did these things without expecting gratitude from her fellow demons, but when she actually received their thoughts and thanks, she was moved to tears.
"Zhizhi has such an international superstar feel now, congratulations!" Shen Zhizhou appeared behind Shuyi at some point, picked up the phone on the table that was showing a video call, and greeted Zhizhi.
"Hey, Mr. Shen! I'm having a concert next month, you guys absolutely have to come!"
Shen Zhizhou glanced at Shu Yi, nodded, and smiled, "You must be there for your first concert."
After chatting with Zhizhi for a while, Shen Zhizhou hung up the video call. He sat on the top of the sofa, pulled out a few tissues, and handed them to Shuyi: "I didn't mean to be mean to you just now. I just had a headache and wanted to rest."
Shuyi nodded to indicate that she understood: "Actually, what I wanted to say was that Uncle Dayan was an accident. I don't want you to have any bad impression of the demon race because of Uncle Dayan. It really is just an isolated case!"
"I know." Shen Zhizhou waved his phone, smiling with a hint of helplessness. "Didn't you make it very clear in the group chat?"
...
After spending all the money he had, Uncle Wild Goose returned to his previous residence. Seeing his fellow demons looking at him with disdain or contempt, Uncle Wild Goose was filled with anger.
Especially after seeing that he had been kicked out of the group chat, he vented his frustration to He Yong, a close friend: "Humans are all the same! They said they would introduce me to a job, but not only did they fire me, they also kicked me out of the group chat. Lao He, if you ask me, that human and that demon are both scoundrels, don't you think?"
He Yong was cleaning when he glanced at Uncle Dayan without saying a word. He worked even faster, thinking he would finish cleaning as soon as possible so he could go home and cook for Luo Yingcao.
"Old He, why aren't you saying anything? You haven't forgotten that we are demons because you've received such kindness from humans, have you?"
He Yong, finding the sound harsh, threw down his broom, startling Uncle Dayan. He Yong was usually a kind-hearted, smiling man who never got angry with anyone; what was wrong with him today?
"I don't even need to criticize you. Boss Shen is such a good person, and Miss Shuyi is also wholeheartedly devoted to the demon race. Look at the neighbors around you, who hasn't received their kindness? Only you are ungrateful." After He Yong finished speaking, he was too lazy to pay attention to Uncle Dayan, so he simply pushed him out, locked the door, and left.
Hearing the commotion, the neighbors grabbed a handful of melon seeds and stood by the door, mocking Uncle Wild Goose: "You're really ungrateful. If you don't want a job, give up your spot to the other monsters. You're just hogging the job and then blaming others. It's really annoying to be your neighbor."
"You've all been deceived! They were the ones who were unfair first!" Uncle Goose said angrily, hands on his hips.
The neighbor spat out sunflower seed shells onto the ground, as if he had spat on Uncle Goose, which made Uncle Goose even angrier.
“Shuyi posted the whole story in the group, and I was there when you caused trouble that day…” The neighbor patted the dust off his hands as if shaking off something dirty, and said with disdain, “Such a big demon, yet he still does things that even humans wouldn’t do. He’s really getting more and more like a senile person.”
When Uncle Dayan heard Shuyi share the whole story in the group chat, he turned to He Yong and demanded that He Yong open his phone so he could see it. He Yong refused, and the two demons started pushing and shoving each other.
Uncle Wild Goose was accidentally pushed to the ground by He Yong. He simply sat down on the ground and howled, "I killed a demon! My legs hurt so much! Is anyone going to help me?!"
Seeing Uncle Wild Goose howling, the surrounding demons genuinely thought he was injured and hurriedly shouted for everyone to take him to the demon hospital.
Knowing he was in the wrong, and not daring to call Shuyi and Shen Zhizhou, He Yong secretly called Luo Yingcao. Upon receiving He Yong's call, Luo Yingcao nodded and said she understood. She then went to a hardware store and bought a hammer to smash the demon.
Aunt Goat, who witnessed the whole thing, was so frightened that she almost had a heart attack. These monsters have always been honest and low-key, and they would never dare to cause trouble. She immediately called Shuyi.
"Yi, Yingcao...she's going to kill a demon!"
