Chapter 87: Completely numb

Chapter 87: Completely numb

Good news doesn't travel far, but bad news travels fast.

That very day, news of Yao Fanghua's suspension and investigation spread throughout the fan factory, the courtyard, and the alleyways.

Li Chunying stood in front of the steamed bun shop, brandishing a cleaver and cursing, "What a load of rubbish! Harmony brings wealth!" She then took out all the soy sauce and vinegar from the shop and started smashing them outside.

"Did I even ask? Did I even ask if we needed that bottle of soy sauce? You're utterly despicable, utterly shameless, and deserve to die young! You ruined my Hua Hua with a bottle of soy sauce! Why don't you just go outside and kill yourself! May your whole family die!" She cursed as she threw things outside. Why did she have to be so impulsive and pick up that damn soy sauce? Why was she so foolish?

Zhong Er slapped his forehead. Had he overheard that young woman mentioning someone surnamed Yao? No wonder Brother Peng had told him to keep an eye on Shen Jiao; she was Hua Hua's enemy. Zhong Er immediately called Wu Peng. This woman was definitely responsible for Hua Hua's downfall. Not only did she climb over Hua Hua's head to become her leader, but she also harmed Hua Hua. This infuriated him.

When Wu Peng received the phone call, his brain congested, and his blood rushed to his head. A flood of unpleasant memories washed over him: the Shen family, the Shen family, the Shen family deserved to die!

Wu Peng stuffed all sorts of Hong Kong city documents into his bag. Then, after a long journey, he boarded a plane back to Beijing.

That evening, Yao Fangfang didn't eat dinner. Fang Guizhi was in a good mood and followed her daughter to the bedroom to ask if she was sick or if she felt unwell.

"Mom, do you think Hua Hua will get arrested?"

"So what if she gets arrested? We separated a long time ago. We're not family anymore, so it won't affect our family. It's good that she got arrested, let's see how smug she is, let's see how smug her whole family is. At worst, we can just sever all ties with the second son's family in public and sign a disownment agreement."

Yao Fangfang was a little scared. She had written the letter of complaint; her aunt had instigated her to write it and taken it from her. Her aunt said she was illiterate and just needed to write it for her, and that she didn't need to worry about anything else. She thought at most Yao Fanghua would lose her job, but now it seemed more serious. By the end of the afternoon, two groups of people had already come to the courtyard to investigate.

Wu Peng arrived the next afternoon. He went to find Zhong Er, gave him a wad of cash, and got the negatives and recordings. In the evening, he stood in front of Yao Fanghua.

Yao Fanghua's eyes were red, and it was clear she had been crying.

Yao Fanghua's voice was a little hoarse, "Why are you here? What about the factory?"

"What do you mean, what should I do? I've spent money to support so many people, what are they all doing?"

"How did you get back? Did you fly back?"

"You're right, I'm eager to go home. Give me a hug."

Yao Fanghua, who had managed to calm down a bit, burst into tears again. "They're such bastards, you know?" She hated the people who reported her, and she hated them even more for convicting her without even knowing the facts.

Wu Peng joined in the cursing: "Bastards, you're all bastards! Resign immediately, let's leave right now."

"No, if I leave now, I'll be a deserter, a stain I can never wash away. I'll leave after things are settled. If they insist on accusing me, I'll appeal. I refuse to believe there's no justice or fairness left." Yao Fanghua blew her nose hard with a tissue.

Wu Peng nodded firmly. "You're right, is there no justice left? We're not afraid. I'll handle everything. Have you eaten? Judging from your face, you haven't slept all night, have you? You haven't eaten either, have you?"

I can't eat.

"What's there to not eat? Don't starve to death before you're perfectly fine. Those damned people will think you committed suicide out of guilt."

"Go to hell." Yao Fanghua, her face streaked with tears, chuckled, almost spitting out snot.

"I'll get you some food, then you can eat and get some sleep."

Forced by Wu Peng, Yao Fanghua reluctantly ate some noodles, and then Wu Peng forced her to go to bed.

Wu Peng: "You go to sleep quietly. Wang Huaizhi knows a lot of people. I'll go find him and ask him about the situation."

"Um."

Wu Peng patted the third dog's head and said, "Stay here and keep watch, let your mother sleep, understand?"

"Go to hell." Yao Fanghua looked at the dog's head resting on the headboard of the third brother's bed and refused to admit that he was the dog's mother.

"I think you treat it almost like your son." Wu Peng turned off the light. "Go to sleep. Don't think about anything else. I'll tell you when I get back after I've found out. Don't worry, everything will be fine."

Yao Fanghua felt inexplicably at ease, and soon fell asleep.

Wu Peng actually went to find Wang Huaizhi.

Late at night, the two sneaked into the printing room of the machinery factory.

As Wang Huaizhi looked at the photos, he kept exclaiming "Awesome!" He didn't know how to praise Wu Peng enough. All he could say was "Awesome!" How could his brother be so awesome?

"I have something even more exciting. I have a recording here. Do you want it? I'll give you a copy." He made over a dozen copies of this thing.

Without a second of restraint, Wang Huaizhi said, "Good brother."

As the printing press kept turning, the content of the photograph was printed onto thousands of sheets of paper.

Wang Huaizhi was admiring the sight when he heard a noise at the door.

They locked the door from the inside, but someone twisted the doorknob.

Wu Peng immediately sprang into action, sweeping the printed materials into his briefcase, gathering the few photos scattered on the table, and then dashing to the window and jumping out to escape.

Wang Huaizhi followed closely behind.

Li Yaozhong kicked open the printing room door and saw two thieves jump out of the window and run away. He immediately jumped out of the window to chase after them.

Wu Peng and Wang Huaizhi ran separately, one on the left and one on the right.

Li Yaozhong hesitated for a moment, then chased after Wu Peng, who was carrying a bag.

Seeing that Li Yaozhong had gone after Wu Peng, Wang Huaizhi, while running, gritted his teeth and turned back.

When Wang Huaizhi arrived, Li Yaozhong was already fighting with Wu Peng. Wu Peng was young and strong, and his moves were all amateurish. Li Yaozhong was old but vigorous and had a military background. He was obviously a trained fighter and had the upper hand.

Wang Huaizhi straightened his clothes, calmed his breathing, and pretended to be passing by.

Wang Huaizhi exclaimed in surprise, "Uncle Li? It's Uncle Li! What's going on?"

Li Yaozhong slammed Wu Peng to the ground, then looked suspiciously at Wang Huaizhi. "What are you doing here?" That brat! No wonder the voice inside sounded familiar—it was him. What were he doing sneaking around the factory with people?!

"I was working overtime when I heard a noise, so I came to check. What could be going on so late at night?"

Li Yaozhong clicked his tongue. "What a rascal! He's really good at pretending. These young people are quick-witted." "I haven't asked yet. Do you recognize this person? Is he from our factory?" Heh heh, you two are already bickering.

"Hey, Uncle Li, what's that in your pocket?"

Li Yaozhong watched as Wang Huaizhi reached into his pocket and put something inside.

Wang Huaizhi looked at him with an innocent expression.

Li Yaozhong: ...You little brat! You dare pull that on him? Do you think your grandpa's a pushover? Grandpa's eaten more salt than you've eaten rice!

He wanted to see what tricks they dared to play in front of him. Li Yaozhong reached into his pocket, took his hand out, and then looked at it in the moonlight.

Huh? All white. Huh? The people upstairs look familiar. Li Yaozhong stared intently, afraid of missing any details.

Wang Huaizhi exclaimed in shock, "My God, Uncle Li, you, you, how could you carry such photos with you? It's too... terrible..." I couldn't even finish my sentence...

Wang Huaizhi was heartbroken and exasperated. "The world is going to the dogs! Uncle Li, who is on this?"

Li Yaozhong was completely stunned. No wonder he heard all that "awesome" stuff at the door; this guy was definitely more awesome than him. This was solid proof. He really was a good brother, sharing this with someone like that—a true buddy.
