Chapter 92 Wear it for fun
Yao Fanghua was leaning against the headboard, reading a book absentmindedly. She was constantly worried that Wu Peng might do something impulsive for her sake. She thought he was still immature, impulsive, and reckless. The more she thought about it, the more uneasy she became. She didn't know where he was or what he had been up to, and she regretted letting him out. Her resolve to work on wireless communications strengthened; not being able to contact him was truly agonizing.
When Wu Peng arrived home, Yao Fanghua heard the noise, threw down her book, and came out to greet him.
Wu Peng locked the door, then hugged Yao Fanghua tightly, grinning silently. After the hug, he kissed her passionately, wanting to be completely open and honest with her, to let her feel the joy and happiness in his heart.
Finally, reluctantly, they let go. Both of their faces were flushed, their cheeks burning.
Wu Peng pointed to the tricycle, Yao Fanghua picked up two, Wu Peng picked up three, and the two carried the boxes into the house.
Yao Fanghua: "What is this thing? It's quite heavy."
"Let's talk in the studio." There was dirt on the box, so Wu Peng patted it off at the door before going inside.
Five boxes were placed on the workbench in the studio. Wu Peng also made sure to draw the curtains.
Yao Fanghua was unlocking a box. "Where did this come from? What's inside?"
Yao Fanghua suddenly looked up, her eyes brightening. "You found what's in the picture?"
Wu Peng washed his hands, took a cup and drank some water. "Let's open the box first."
A moment later, there was a sound, and the lock opened.
The two men pressed their heads together in front of the box, simultaneously reaching out to lift the lid. Neither hesitated.
When the box was opened, it was full of Chinese yuan, stacked neatly in piles.
Yao Fanghua slammed the box shut. "Did you rob a bank? Are you crazy?"
"What are you saying? I'm waiting to get married, would I do that kind of thing?" Wu Peng snorted. "Do you discriminate against me because I've been to prison? Do you always think I'd do something illegal because I've been to prison? Do you think I'm not good enough for you because I've been to prison? Do you look down on me because I've been to prison? In your heart, am I just a convict, and will I be forever, and can't this image be changed?!" Wu Peng's face was full of grievance and resentment, his eyes were filled with tears, and his voice choked with sobs.
"No, no, that's not what I meant." Why such a big reaction? Yao Fanghua took out a handkerchief. "Here, let me wipe your tears. Don't hold them in, let them fall. Ah, you'll feel better once they fall."
I was just worried about you, and I was just confused because I was worried, so I said some nonsense.
What do you mean by disliking or not disliking, or whether you're good enough for him or not? It's just that you were born at the wrong time. If this were in the past, in the early days, even if I were your maid, if I could climb up to you, young master, it would be like my ancestors' graves were emitting auspicious smoke, changing my fate and ascending to heaven in one step!
Young master, please stop sobbing. It breaks my heart.
Wu Peng then adopted a haughty demeanor, saying, "Someone like you is at best a foot-washing maid."
"Bullshit, I'm sure I'll be writing calligraphy for you in the study."
"You're being naughty again."
Yao Fanghua glanced at him sideways.
Wu Peng clutched his heart, "That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I love this kind of thing. He can swear and he can read, he's a perfect match for me."
“That young master who can’t read or swear,” Yao Fanghua pointed to the box, “what’s going on?” This 100-yuan note looks pretty new.
"It all belongs to the Wu family! You know how incredibly wealthy the Wu family used to be. What was plundered by those scoundrels is simply what I'm taking back." This amount of money may not be enough to make up for it all!
He even denied doing anything illegal! Yao Fanghua assumed he had broken into the house and stolen it, "Did he leave any problems behind?"
"Don't worry. They've kept it for so many years, it's time to return it."
Seeing that Yao Fanghua was staring at him intently, Wu Peng explained his grievances with the Shen family and then briefly recounted what had happened that evening.
"I knocked them down and put them by the pit. Damn, I even left a box of storage fees."
Yao Fanghua was filled with regret; what a loss! Although it's true that you can't catch a wolf without spending money, why did she need to spend so much?
"If I knew how to pick locks, I wouldn't have had to leave a box behind. Sigh."
"Sigh!" The two sighed in unison.
Yao Fanghua: "The Shen family you're talking about, is it the Shen family that Shen Jiao is from?"
"Absolutely! They're just naturally at odds with our family! We'll make them pay!"
Yao Fanghua: ...She's just being delusional. He went to get revenge. It wasn't for her.
Yao Fanghua was a little sullen, but when she saw the boxes on the table, she immediately beamed with joy. "What are you being so dramatic about? You've spoiled me rotten."
Yao Fanghua beamed with joy and quickly continued unpacking.
Wu Peng squatted down beside her and watched intently, but unfortunately he couldn't understand how Yao Fanghua was fiddling with it.
With a snap, the two men perked up simultaneously.
Opening the box, the room was filled with brilliance! Six fist-sized luminous pearls immediately caught the eye, followed by a box full of pearls of various sizes and colors. There was absolutely no protective measure; the entire box of spheres was colliding and being squeezed together inside.
The two were even more disappointed, as the storage fee for that box was such a waste.
The third box contained a box full of jade and gemstone jewelry, wrapped together without any protection, piled high.
The fourth box contained gold bars, ingots, and bullion, all clearly melted down by hand, and irregular in size and shape.
The last box was a mixed bag: gold watches, gold jewelry, snuff bottles, thumb rings, seals, and two calligraphy and paintings.
Now Wu Peng was even more certain, "See, I told you these are my family's paintings. They are definitely my family's; they were collected by my grandfather!"
Yao Fanghua nodded repeatedly, thinking, "Whatever, it's not true anyway."
Looking at the boxes piled up on the workbench, Yao Fanghua truly felt the reality of marrying a rich young master.
"Pengpeng, when are we going to get our marriage certificate?" She doesn't feel at ease keeping these things until they're officially registered.
"Ha, women!"
Yao Fanghua: "...Never mind taking it," anyway, the stuff is with me, we can split it in half when we meet, I won't lose out...
Wu Peng immediately and decisively replied: "Tomorrow!"
Wu Peng rummaged through the corner of the study and pulled out his briefcase, taking out a box and handing it to Yao Fanghua.
"What?" Yao Fanghua opened it and saw that it was a ring with a diamond set in it.
Yao Fanghua reacted indifferently, giving a faint "oh".
Wu Peng was displeased. "So you look down on this ring just because you see these boxes of stuff? Let me tell you, I designed it myself and had it custom-made. You... you don't like it? Don't underestimate it because of its size. It's a diamond, you know? Diamonds are more expensive than a box of pearls, more expensive than a box of gold!" Wu Peng spoke shamelessly. The effort he put in, the sentiment he showed, was worth a fortune! He had no shame whatsoever!
Yao Fanghua ran back to the bedroom, and Wu Peng chased after her, "Why are you running? What do you mean?" She hadn't even put on the ring yet, and she dared to complain. Tonight, I'll take care of her.
In front of Wu Peng, Yao Fanghua moved the bedside table, opened the hidden compartment, opened the safe, and then handed a bag of gems to Wu Peng.
Inside, red, green, blue, pink and yellow hues intermingled, and there were thumb-sized gemstones, including two rubies that were even larger.
Wu Peng: ...
Wu Peng slammed the bag shut, snatched the ring from Yao Fanghua's hand, and forced it onto her finger, gritting his teeth as he said, "Wear it for fun! There will be bigger ones later!!"
Yao Fanghua blew on her fingers, then said, "Never mind, I'll just wear them for fun." She looked at Wu Peng with a smile in her eyes.
