Thinking back to the palm-sized Niffler he had just seen, Felix understood that an adult Niffler would be at least one foot long.
Newt glanced at him, then looked into the office. Amos inside sounded a little exasperated, "Where are those forms?"
"Can you help me?" Newt said.
"What?" Felix looked at him in astonishment.
"I need to feed them some potions... These three are a little weak, and can't compare to their brothers."
"Glad to help," Felix thought for a moment and said, he found that the old man had a unique temperament, a feeling of seriousness and innocence mixed together, which he had only seen in underage children.
"What should I do?"
"Just help me block it," Newt turned his body sideways, took out the silver pocket watch from his pocket, and took out a thumb-sized glass bottle from the other pocket. He unscrewed the bottle cap, and Felix found that the cap was combined with a dropper.
"Only three drops..." Newt looked at the pocket watch intently, "I'm going to open it, Mr. Hep."
"Click."
The front cover of the pocket watch popped open, and a small black guy immediately drilled out. It jumped flexibly in Newt's palm.
"Sniff, come here!" Felix whispered. Sniff's flat palm kept stroking, but found that he flew back in vain and was caught in his hand.
"Thank you again, Valen, you should be almost well." Newt said as he looked at the little guy. The Sniff in Felix's hand turned his head away and called a few words softly.
"Hey, you can't talk like that." Newt said, then he raised his head, "It's a bit uncomfortable for you to hold her like this, Mr. Hep, it's not a grip, I know you didn't use force but it's better to support it." Felix
changed his gesture.
"Great, open your mouth, Valen, you don't want to get sick either?" Newt said to Sniff Valen, Sniff reluctantly opened his mouth, and Newt dropped three more drops of transparent potion into it.
Then, he put the little guy back into the pocket watch, but Valen immediately poked half of his head out of it, "Oh, no!" Newt pointed his finger at its pink nose and looked into its dark eyes, "Call your two brothers out."
The Sniff was unmoved, and Newt tilted his head, "I insist, Valen."
It hummed reluctantly twice, and the pink nose retreated and disappeared. A mess of sounds came from the pocket watch. Newt seemed to explain to Felix: "They have a complicated relationship between siblings." Soon
, another half of the body of the Sniff poked out, although Felix could not tell the difference between them at all.
"Sal, here you go." Newt dripped three drops of potion into its mouth, "Next is Thorpe's turn."
When he completed the task, he finally breathed a sigh of relief. Newt noticed Felix's gaze and said to him, "The Niffler is a lively creature, very lively. It gets close to people. Of course, I don't recommend raising one personally, because it will damage your house."
"Are they also interested in coins?"
"Yes, they can cause trouble if you are not careful. You can always shake out a bunch of shiny things from them," Newt said, "But it's fun to get along with them. You can compete with them to find coins and see who is faster... Their sense of smell is also very sensitive, which can help you find people or some old things."
Newt suddenly put the pocket watch into his pocket and pretended to tidy up the corners of his clothes. Two seconds later, a young man came out of the office. He was wearing an exquisite and bright green wizard robe with a round badge on his chest.
"Mr. Scamander, I heard Diggory say you were here."
"I seem to have seen you somewhere." Newt said.
"Yes, because I have worked here... for several years," he looked up and pointed to the sign on the office door, "I am Mr. Magnier's deputy."
Newt frowned, "Dangerous Animal Disposal Committee?"
"We are not understood, but someone has to do this." The young man restrained the arrogance in his eyes, "Mr. Scamander, the Iserlong herd in County Antrim is a little restless, you'd better go and take a look."
Iserlong is a Pegasus with chestnut mane, and is recognized as the four most common Pegasus along with the Rune Horse, Graling, and Thestral.
"Oh... shouldn't be... this season is not the mating season..." Newt said puzzled.
"Who knows what those beasts think?"
"Has their leader changed?"
"Probably not... so I suggest you go and investigate the reason."
"What about the environment?"
"No."
Newt asked questions one by one seriously. The young man struggled to respond. His words became shorter and shorter, and a layer of sweat appeared on his forehead. In the end, even Felix, who was not very familiar with this kind of Pegasus, could hear the contradictions in his words.
For the first time, Newt looked the young man in the eye. "Maybe... my knowledge tells me that you are lying... you want me to stay away from here."
The young man looked away unnaturally, but he realized it immediately and forced himself to look at Newt. "This is a very serious accusation, Mr. Scamander, as a pure blood..."
"Excuse me," Felix couldn't help interrupting him, "I always felt that the tone of your speech was familiar. Are you Chesterton?"
Chesterton turned his head and looked at Felix, with a hint of impatience in his expression, "Who are you? Didn't you see us, our Felix Hep?"
His tone was distorted by excitement.
"It's me, Chesterton." Felix greeted.
The young man said a little at a loss: "Oh... Hello, I don't know..." After more than ten seconds, he finally calmed down, "Long time no see, Mr. Hep."
Felix nodded, "It's indeed been a long time since we last met. You were my class leader when I entered school, and many of the things you said were impressive."
"Really... I, I don't remember clearly." Chesterton said.
"By the way, what family are you from?" Felix asked unceremoniously.
Chesterton muttered.
"I didn't hear you clearly..." Felix stared into his eyes.
"Yes, Aver," Chesterton stammered, "Avery."
"The head of the Avery family is your..."
"Uncle."
This was not a pleasant conversation, at least for Chesterton. After a few words, he tried to leave. "Mr. McNeill should need me..."
Felix stared at his back. Newt stood quietly aside, occasionally casting a curious glance.
At this time, Amos finally came out, with a few drops of sweat on his red face. "These forms have not been used for some years. They were found in the file cabinet of the previous member. A bunch of termites have made their home in them. Who are you?"
"Felix Hepp, I work at Hogwarts." Felix said.
"Oh my God," Amos' eyes widened, "You are the professor of Ancient Magic and the head of the Dueling Club?"
Felix glanced at him curiously. Is this the parent of one of his students? He said, "It's me."
"During the holidays, Ced mentioned you, Cedric Diggory, he is my son." Amos said excitedly, "The kid is a little shy, but he admires you very much. He told me that you gave him a lot of extra guidance in the dueling class... and the power of spells, it's amazing..." "
Cedric? He is really good, and he also performs very well in ancient magic runes."
"He is also the captain of the Hufflepuff Quidditch team! I talked to his mother some time ago, whether Ced will join the Ministry of Magic or the national team after graduation... She asked me to ask the child's opinion, haha..." Amos talked incessantly, like all parents in the world, until a tall man hurried over from the other side of the corridor.
"Mr. Hape?" said the tall man. "I'm Walsh, the one you were corresponding with. You're finally here."
"Why? I'm an hour early."
"Minister Fudge is waiting for you," Walsh Cidric said, holding Felix's arm. "Sorry, Diggory, I have to take your friend away."
"No, nothing. Business is more important." Mr. Amos said.
Felix paused and Walsh staggered. "Oh, wait a minute I need to say something." He looked at Newt. "Mr. Scamander, I've also been following Hagrid's case. We'll talk again when we have a chance." Before
Newt could speak, Amos had already spoken. "Is it the speech at two o'clock today? Are you the Muggle expert the ministry mentioned? I will definitely go and see it, Mr. Hape."
Felix smiled at him, and then left with Walsh.
Newt said thoughtfully, "Muggle expert? He does look very comfortable in his clothes."
