Let's sort out the timeline and foreshadowing of the recent plot to facilitate readers' reading.
When Felix was in the fourth grade, he received a letter of encouragement from Ms. Jane (Hermione);
afterwards, at an uncertain time, he received several more letters. Felix had a "good impression" of Ms. Jane, of course, this good impression did not involve love between men and women;
in the second grade plot, Felix got Fudge's hair; (end of Chapter 87)
time comes to the fourth grade plot:
this year, Ms. Jane (Hermione) appeared three times. The first time was a letter of greeting at Christmas, which was also the first time Ms. Jane appeared in the formal narrative of this book. Some keen readers may guess Hermione's middle name;
the second time was to send a birthday present (4.15), Hermione and Harry both misunderstood Felix's birthday;
the third time was to send the memory of death (late at night on June 21, which can also be understood as the early morning of June 22), and it was at this moment that Felix guessed that someone had traveled through time. Of course, he was not sure yet, and it might be a prank or a threat. He verified the five-hour safe time travel limit that night and came to a conclusion: if the person who sent the memory really wanted to help him, this person might have used long-distance time travel. Note that this time is June 22, two days before the start of the third project on June 24.
(Chapters 473 to 477 all take place on the 22nd and 23rd.)
On the morning of June 22, Felix did not sleep all night, and early in the morning he tried to find the people he thought were most likely to help him (because long-distance time travel is particularly dangerous, and people who are not close would not do this). They are: Snape, Dumbledore, and Hermione/Harry (Chapter 474).
There are two details to note in Chapter 474.
First, the conversation with Dumbledore gave him a piece of information, that is, after wizards become "magical creatures", they will perform miracles that ordinary wizards cannot accomplish, such as Dumbledore can simulate magical creatures with Transfiguration (under normal circumstances, Transfiguration and Animagus cannot do this);
from this, Felix made a guess that the time of occurrence of this memory was at least after he completed the transformation.
The book also clearly stated that Felix himself judged that it was two or three months later.
Since it was two or three months later, there was no need to rush for a day or two. It was the best solution to find this person and confirm what happened.
Second, Felix deliberately asked Hermione about the progress of the time-turner repair.
Before, Felix didn't really believe that Hermione/Harry/Ron could repair the time-turner, because according to the research of the authoritative Nick Flamel, this time-turner lacked time energy, and he already knew that the three people's plan was to replace the hourglass on the altar of "Despicable Herpo", so Felix thought the possibility of success was very low (he had checked it himself before).
But just in case, Felix still asked Hermione, and the information he got was "they decided to start the repair after the game is over." Note that so far, Felix still can't be sure whether it was one of them who did it, but it is possible after all. His response plan is to pay close attention. Once they succeed in repairing it, they will basically lock on to the target.
For this reason, he decided not to go to Azkaban to cause trouble to the Death Eaters before this matter was resolved, but Felix would definitely go to Azkaban;
so from Felix's perspective: he received the death memory last night, and found the suspected target this morning, and the "death incident" happened two or three months later, so was he anxious? In fact, he was not in a hurry, and he could have arranged it calmly.
As a result, on the same night (June 22), Hermione repaired the time converter, and Felix knew nothing about it.
Time came to June 23 (the day before the competition):
In the morning, Felix finished invigilating the last grade and returned to the office. With the help of Valen, he equated Ms. Jane with Hermione for the first time. What does this mean? Hermione traveled a long distance in time, and this long distance was far beyond his expectations.
From receiving the death notice late at night on June 21 to locking the target on the morning of June 23, the speed was fast enough. And after the target was determined, Felix immediately took action without delaying for a second. He took out three things, his homemade Marauder's Map (what if the second Hermione was near the school), the semi-finished peephole that Valen had taken before (when he found that he couldn't find it on the map, he immediately decided to pull out Hermione's hair to make a peephole to find people, and searched all over Britain, but still failed. Hermione was on guard against this trick, she thought she was going to die, and accepted it calmly), and a small glass bottle containing a handful of gray hair (Fudge's hair, at that time Felix had the idea of going to the Ministry of Magic to obtain time energy).
At this time, he was still obsessed with finding Hermione first. As I said, he wanted to know what happened so that he could make the right layout, otherwise he couldn't do anything.
The previous two plans to find people failed. Felix finally guessed Hermione's thoughts and thought that she might be hiding at home, so he finally found her.
The time came to the evening of June 23. Felix saw Hermione's notes (she was going to write down her case), and he learned that a shocking death notice would occur tomorrow night, not two or three months later as he had thought before.
There is another foreshadowing here. After Felix saw Hermione's notes, he realized that it was not the problem with the time converter or Hermione's mess, but Crouch Jr.'s fault. The original text is: "The third project, the trophy, the portkey, and the root of everything... It turned out to be you, Crouch Jr."
Continuing to sort out the timeline, Felix now has less than 24 hours to save everything.
So he broke into the Ministry of Magic at night. Although he didn't have time to think it through, he did what he originally planned: pretending to be Fudge and sneaking into the Ministry of Magic quietly, without anyone noticing. As for confirming whether Fudge was in the Ministry of Magic before that? He didn't have time to do it, he could only gamble. It was half past ten in the evening, and normal people had already left work. If they were exposed, they would just sneak attack. Anyway, there were fewer people at night, so he asked the guards who was in the Ministry of Magic.
Felix entered the Department of Mysteries, knocked out two unspoken people, saw the prophecy, and found the Hall of Time. Things are on track. He must complete three things in one night.
Learn quickly: find a feasible solution from the information in the Department of Mysteries (he knew nothing about the time field before);
master the skills of extracting time energy (definitely requires practice, that is the crystal glass cover);
obtain the carrier of time energy and fill it up (that is, the hourglass in the closet);
because time is urgent (he can't come during the day the next day, and everyone will die on the second night), so Felix must do his best and must stay in the Department of Mysteries. He can't go anywhere. Fortunately, he doesn't need to learn time magic, just master a little bit of fur. With the powerful memory magic, he finally succeeded.
What is Felix's state at this time? The magic power is exhausted, the spirit is on the verge of collapse, and he is finished without the crown of Ravenclaw.
Then he was discovered by the guards when he went out. Felix just wanted to leave, but his state was too bad. If he was in full health, he could get rid of the guards by going back and forth to a few thinking huts to pull people (similar to the method of dealing with fire dragons), but now he can't do it. He is in a disadvantageous position. Once caught, Hermione will be dead.
In addition, the Aurors of the Ministry of Magic attacked him with the magic he taught himself. Anyone would be angry. It was too difficult for Felix to be calm. He was not a good-tempered person. So there was an explosion. The harvest was that the transformation of the body was almost complete. The two armor spells began to merge, and the combat power was naturally improved.
After that, Scrimgeour was afraid of the strength shown by Felix and chose to let him go (don’t think Scrimgeour will always be tough. In the original book, he hid in the office for several weeks under the pressure of Voldemort). Of course, given the strength shown by Felix, whether Scrimgeour could guess his identity was another matter.
At this point, Felix got the hourglass with time energy and escaped from the Ministry of Magic.
The above is the logic of this plot. Readers who still have questions can mention it in this single chapter.
Finally, I would like to share with you an experience of reading books:
an excellent novel often has its own logic. Taking the original Harry Potter as an example, there are indeed many slots. It is recognized that Rowling is relatively lacking in some areas of knowledge. But some of the places where people complain can actually be explained by the logic in the book.
For example, the conflict between James and Snape would have happened even without Lily; (hardcore Gryffindor vs. die-hard Slytherin; different attitudes towards dark magic; and the war as the background at that time, other colleges were influenced by it, so they were hostile to Slytherin)
Another example is the teaching system of Hogwarts, which many people complain about, and I complain too. But think about it carefully, the "Statute of Secrecy" was implemented in 1692. Since then, most wizards have been disconnected from the normal world, and the last two or three hundred years happen to be an era of great development for ordinary people. Although there are also Muggle-born wizards, if they choose to stay in the wizarding world after adulthood, it means that these people have actually received wizard thinking education from the age of 11 until old age. They are unlikely to study how to improve educational concepts, not to mention that it is difficult to promote reforms without becoming the principal or Minister of Magic of Hogwarts.
In addition, wizards are a small group, and internal closure and conservatism are inevitable, which leads to the backwardness of the education system of Hogwarts.
We are all used to judging the characters and story backgrounds of stories from the perspective of modern people, which will definitely cause deviations in the understanding of the characters. Take Dumbledore as an example. As the greatest white wizard of that era in the story, he also has his own limitations. Any high school student can beat him in mathematics, but this does not affect Dumbledore's greatness in the story. Only
by integrating into the background of the story can you enjoy the fun that a good story brings you.
