The elevator went down quickly. After a brief darkness, Felix caught a glimpse of light under his feet, and the light was getting bigger and bigger.
A noisy sound came into his ears, and they came to a huge underground building.
Felix looked at the patterns and murals on the arched ceiling.
Maxwell noticed his gaze: "We adopted a new style - constellation patterns, and some historical events. Do you see that big sphere?" He pointed to the silver-white sphere above the dome, which was emitting soft light, illuminating the entire lobby like daylight.
"It didn't exist in the past, thanks to the previous minister."
The elevator landed and Felix walked out of the "birdcage". He looked around. The circular hall was divided into two floors. On the first floor where he was, several long desks were placed in the middle of the open space. Most of the seats were occupied, and people were walking back and forth in a hurry.
The second floor was supported by some columns, and the edge happened to be an aisle with railings. He saw someone standing in front of the horizontal railing, looking down from above.
"Are the buildings here arranged horizontally?" Felix asked.
"What, oh, yes, it's similar to a spider web, and we are standing in the center of the spider web." Maxwell said, "It's different from the British Ministry of Magic. I heard that you have opened up more than ten floors?"
"As far as I know, it's ten floors." Felix said.
Next, Maxwell took Felix out of the hallway and walked straight along an open passage to a small office. There was a piece of paper on it - temporary registration point No. 2.
"I'll take you here directly, so you don't have to go to the front desk to ask the receptionist, there are always long queues..." Maxwell pushed open the door, "Good afternoon, Willy, I brought a friend to register to participate in the Muggle Research Conference."
A light-haired wizard raised his head, "Of course... There are so many people coming recently that I don't even have time to relax." He suddenly looked at Felix: "Do you like playing exploding cards?"
Maxwell interrupted him impatiently, "Willy, we are in a hurry, and we have to go to the hotel later. I am so angry when I think of that American woman."
"Ha! But you have to obey her orders, right?" The wizard named Willy handed over a form while registering Felix's wand. "Just fill it out casually, mainly the name, country and purpose of visit."
Maxwell's beard trembled, "I am following the orders of the minister."
Felix quickly filled in the basic information and ignored the magic proficiency column on the form. When he handed it to Willy, the wizard stuffed it into the drawer without even looking at it, and turned to Maxwell with great joy and said, "But the minister asked you to listen to her. Did that woman ask you to do waiter work?"
Maxwell responded with a rude gesture.
When they walked out of the office, Maxwell explained, "This meeting was applied for by the American Magical Congress to the International Confederation of Wizards. After all the committee members approved it, we will host it."
"Why not go to the United States?"
"They asked, who knows what they think?" Maxwell obviously didn't want to talk more. Felix guessed that it might be related to the 'woman' he mentioned.
The two came to a fireplace, "Boothrace Hotel, remember? You go first."
Felix grabbed a handful of floo powder and clearly called out "Boothrace Hotel" in the green flames, and his figure disappeared.
Felix walked out of the fireplace. The interior decoration in front of him was mainly red and gold. The most conspicuous was the red carpet and the golden stone pillars, which reminded Felix of the Gryffindor College of Hogwarts.
He felt slightly amused.
Soon, Maxwell appeared from the fireplace. He took Felix to a room and left in a hurry.
Felix pushed open the door. The furnishings inside were very simple. He spent some time casting some protective spells, and then walked around the hotel.
The hotel has a total of seven floors. Felix paced to the first floor and chatted with the waiter at the front desk. He quickly determined that this was a Muggle hotel in a very remote location.
"Your tour group is really weird. Tourists only flock here in autumn to enjoy the flowers and scenery. Now the surroundings are all bare..."
"And once we move in, we are not allowed to clean the room. There are also various weird requirements."
Felix dealt with a few words. He didn't know how the French Ministry of Magic negotiated, so he didn't want to say more. There
were two men standing at the door, one hand in his trouser pocket. His temperament was very similar to Maxwell. He guessed that they were guards arranged by the Ministry of Magic.
Felix asked the waiter if there was a person named "Keridi Bubage" coming. The waiter checked the service list and said, "No, her room is 203, which is still vacant. It was just cleaned this morning."
After politely thanking him, Felix began to walk up from the first floor to check for any traces of black magic.
On the way, he met several wizards from different countries. They were also invited experts. Felix chatted with them for a few words. Except for those who really couldn't speak the language, most of them were very friendly.
On the fourth floor, he found a huge auditorium with hundreds of seats.
'It seems that the meeting is taking place here. '
The fifth and sixth floors were empty, but Felix walked past them one by one until he heard some noises on the seventh floor.
'Did I really see them? Or were they actually the hotel staff? '
Felix's figure gradually blended into the surrounding environment, and his footsteps were so low that he could not hear them. He stopped at the door of room 705. The
sound inside was very small, but Felix saw two bright sources of magic power with the help of the black and white perspective. He tapped the wall with his wand, and the intersection of the wand tip and the wall became soft.
The conversation in the room was clearly heard by Felix——
"Haven't you got the list yet?" This was a woman's voice.
"No, he's very stubborn." A deep man's voice sounded.
"Can't you——" The woman's voice suddenly stopped, as if she was cast under a tongue-locking spell.
"You also realize the problem. We can't take tough measures. At least I refuse."
The woman cursed in a low voice.
After a long time, when Felix thought the conversation was over, the man said dejectedly: "This is a complete disaster."
Footsteps were heard, and Felix left quickly.
In the room, he was still thinking about the information he had obtained by chance.
It turned out that one of the attackers from the previous incident had been caught. From the conversation between the two parties, the attacker's identity was quite special, which made them feel a little cautious.
Was he a relative of an official?
Felix suddenly felt that the gold galleons he spent were not worth it - the information he got was not as good as what he overheard while standing at the door.
