Early in the morning of Christmas, Felix heard a knock on the door. It was Dobby.
"Merry Christmas, generous and great Mr. Happ!" Dobby, the house elf, said enthusiastically outside the door. He was wearing a brown vest with a piece of dark yellow socks sticking out of the pocket of the vest. He was holding a purple knitted sweater in his hand.
Felix suddenly woke up.
He said tentatively: "This is not your Christmas present to me, is it, Dobby? In fact, you don't need it..."
"Oh, no, Mr. Happ," Dobby said stiffly: "This is a gift from Mr. Harry Potter and his friends. I went there first... You said not to come to you too early or too late." "
I did say that." Felix blinked and said, he estimated the time from the dim light outside the door. It was barely six or seven o'clock now, and Dobby would go to Harry's dormitory even earlier.
"Then... uh, please come in."
He made way, and Dobby's body disappeared from the wall at the door for a while, and when he reappeared, he had a big brown bag in his hand.
"These are the gifts that Dobby and the house-elves brought. They are all for Mr. Hype!"
Dobby said in the living room. Then he picked and chose in his big bag, and handed a small gift box wrapped in blue paper to Felix.
"What is this? Oh, a pair of socks, very nice." Felix looked at the socks in the package. Dobby seemed to want to match his favorite blue color. There were also black lightning and silver light balls embroidered on them, corresponding to his two well-known ancient magics.
"Dobby knitted them himself," the house-elf said with big round eyes, "Dobby went to several stores and always felt that the things there were not to his liking, so he discussed with other companions and made a decision together."
"So these are... socks?" Felix asked absentmindedly.
"That's right!" Dobby said happily, "All kinds of socks! Each of us picked the color we like, and Dobby got the upper hand because he knew Mr. Hep likes blue!"
"Yes, you're right, I do like blue. Thank you, Dobby." Felix said, "Have you thought about how to spend this year? I remember Remus said he would give you a week off-"
"Yes! Mr. Lupin is also a good man. He gives the house elves the same holiday." Dobby was so excited that tears welled up in his eyes, "I plan to spend the holiday with my friends and invite all my friends!"
"Good idea, I remember there is a magic camera in the company, remember to take a few photos when the time comes. Merry Christmas to you, Dobby."
...
Felix stayed in the office all day. He had so many gifts and the amount of work he needed to reply to was also quite amazing.
Occasionally, when he was free, he stood in front of the window and looked at the Forbidden Forest covered with snow in the distance.
The carriage of Beauxbatons and Hagrid's hut were like cakes of different sizes, covered with crystal icing. Only a spire was visible from the Ilvermorny station. The black sailing ship of Durmstrang was finally not bothered by the strong wind and was firmly locked on the ice of the frozen Black Lake. The remaining delegation of Ugardo, who advocated nature, chose the place closest to the Forbidden Forest and built a row of small houses with wood - very much in the style of Hagrid's hut.
Felix stood on a high place and could barely see the footprints left by people from other schools when they went to and from Hogwarts Castle. Apart from that, there were large areas of white.
By the afternoon, there were more people, and much more than in the previous two years.
Felix still remembered that last Christmas, even if all the professors and students who stayed in school were added, only one table was filled
. This Christmas was almost the same as the normal school day. This was because of the Christmas ball. Almost all the fourth-year and above students chose to stay in school for the holiday, which made the castle crowded.
But Felix knew that this was purely psychological.
He watched the students playing snowballs for a while. The sky gradually darkened. Felix changed into his robes and estimated the time to leave the office.
At the door of the Great Hall, he saw Harry and Ron, who were looking out the oak door eagerly.
"Are you waiting for Miss Granger?" he asked.
"What? Well, not really... we didn't see her either," Harry said, "we were waiting for Ron's brother."
"Percy Weasley?" Felix was a little surprised.
"Yes," Harry said, pointing to Ron's terrible robes, "Mrs. Weasley bought Ron a new robe and asked Percy to bring it because she heard that Percy would be representing his boss, Mr. Barty Crouch."
Ron muttered to himself, "Mom should have put it in the Christmas package instead of asking Percy to bring it. If she thinks that Piggy (Ron's owl) can't carry so many things, she can leave the purple sweater at home first. I mean, what if Percy forgets it! His big head won't remember anything except work..."
At this time, a loud voice came clearly to their ears from outside the oak door. "Is this your brother, Percy? What he said is really interesting." The person who spoke was Ludo Bagman, who was wearing a bright purple robe with big yellow stars printed on it tonight.
Walking with him was Percy Weasley, who was wearing a brand new navy blue robe and looked very happy. He saw the three people standing at the door at a glance, walked over quickly, with a bright smile on his face, and shook hands with Felix vigorously.
"I didn't expect that the first person I saw when I returned to campus would be you, Professor Happ. Thank you for taking care of Penelope. I have always wanted to find time to visit you. But I have been too busy recently. You may not know that I have been promoted from one of the many assistants to the most advanced one. Today I will replace Mr. Crouch..."
As he spoke, he pushed Ron aside as if he didn't see it.
Harry grinned. He really wanted to ask Percy if Mr. Crouch no longer called him "Weatherby", but he resisted the temptation.
Ron stared at his body silently, looking for a place to hide a robe. A few seconds later, he shouted at Percy angrily, "Where are my robes?"
"What?" Percy asked in astonishment.
"Robes! The robes my mother bought me!" Ron said loudly. Looking at him, if Harry hadn't stopped him, he seemed to want to rush over and strangle Percy to death.
The expression on Percy's face lasted for a few seconds, and then he took out a robe of the same color as his own as if by magic. Ron, who was pulled by Harry, was stunned where he was.
"Is this mine?" Ron said in disbelief.
"You have to thank Penelope. I did forget it when I came here, and she reminded me." Percy said with a straight face.
Ron grabbed the new robe, gently stroked the navy blue satin on it, and said unforgivingly, "Are you living with her?"
"Uh, not yet." Percy replied awkwardly.
"Then how did she remind you before you went out?" Ron looked suspicious.
"Don't ask questions you shouldn't ask!" Percy growled in a low voice, his face flushed, "If you still want your clothes."
"Do you want me to say something good for her? In fact, there is no need to bother. Both mom and dad like her." Ron said.
Percy's face seemed to turn purple. Ludo Bagman and Felix watched the show silently. Fortunately, Harry pulled Ron at this time, "Parvati and Padma are waiting for us." So they hurried to the direction of the bathroom.
"I remember you took out a small heart-shaped mirror before you went out. It seems to be a kind of voice mirror? Then you hurried back to the office. Why didn't you tell your brother? He seems to have misunderstood." Ludo Bagman said.
Percy's face was stiff and he said woodenly, "Penelope said I have no sense of humor."
Bagman's eyes widened, "Is this how you show humor?"
"Is there something wrong with that?" Percy glanced at him strangely.
"Ahem!" Felix interrupted their conversation, "Let's go in early. Regarding the sense of humor, Percy, I remember the title of a book and will tell you later."
"Really?" Percy's eyes lit up, "That's great." When they walked into the auditorium, he was still chattering to defend himself, "I don't think I lack a sense of humor. In fact, each of us has a different definition of humor..."
Felix and Bagman quickened their pace at the same time.
