Madam Pomfrey, the school nurse, treated the wounds with just a few simple spells, and then she gave the three of them a bottle of joy potion, "This will be good for you!" Harry rolled his eyes as he choked.
"Poppy, please give us a few minutes." Dumbledore said gently.
Madam Pomfrey turned and left.
Only the trio, Dumbledore and Felix were present. Snape was sent by the headmaster to find Professor McGonagall - they would have to go to the Chamber of Secrets again later to deal with the body of the basilisk.
"I think you must have a lot to say." Dumbledore's eyes fell on the table beside him, where the Sorting Hat and a silver sword inlaid with rubies were placed.
Harry began to tell them exactly what happened. He said that when he was in detention in Professor Lockhart's office, he heard a disembodied, ghost-like voice for the first time. Combined with the information Hermione got from Professor Happ, he confirmed that he was a Parseltongue.
"But because of the bad reputation of Parseltongue, I concealed it, and there was no attack at that time." Harry said with some shame.
"Everyone has their own secrets, and they don't want others to pry into them." Dumbledore said sympathetically, which made Harry feel better.
He also said that after the first attack, they found that the spiders in the castle escaped, and learned from Myrtle that she was the victim of the opening of the Chamber of Secrets fifty years ago. Harry specifically mentioned that on the day Myrtle was attacked, she heard a boy's voice, which was also the biggest evidence for them to determine the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets.
Dumbledore couldn't help but applaud.
"It was Hermione who deduced it," Harry did not take credit for it, and Hermione waved her hand shyly.
Then there was the second attack. Speaking of this, Harry had a strong urge in his heart to express their suspicions about Malfoy. Dumbledore must be able to find something, right?
But just as he mustered up his courage, Snape and Professor McGonagall pushed the door open and walked in. Seeing the three people in such a mess, Professor McGonagall couldn't help but hold her chest, "Oh my God, what have you been through? Professor Snape said that you recklessly challenged the monster in the Chamber of Secrets... If this is true, I will definitely detain you..."
"Minerva," Dumbledore interrupted her, "and Severus, you came at the right time, let us listen to their adventures and then make the final judgment."
So, there were two more people listening to the story.
Harry opened his mouth and finally swallowed his doubts about Malfoy. He began to tell the key information he learned from Hermione that Parseltongue could control snakes - that is what Slytherin did. Then he learned from Hagrid about the existence of the eight-eyed giant spider Aragog and its fear of the basilisk.
"And those dead chickens!" Ron reminded him.
"Yes, a lot of Hagrid's chickens died, and he thought it was done by foxes." Harry added, "We are almost piecing together the truth about the Chamber of Secrets with this information."
"I want to know more about how this series of events happened tonight?" Dumbledore nodded approvingly, then he asked.
Then, Harry continued to talk about how they sneaked out of the hall and prepared to find Professor Happ to explain the situation - Snape made a "hiss" sound - halfway through, they heard the sound of the basilisk again, so they rescued Justin, and Harry asked others to seek help from the professor, while he went to keep an eye on the basilisk to prevent it from attacking others.
"What a noble act, Harry." Dumbledore said softly.
"But what I saw was just a reckless and arrogant adventure. Principal Dumbledore, you have given them too many privileges." Snape played the role of pouring cold water with a stern face.
Felix watched with interest. Snape's disgust for Harry Potter was really undisguised, but he stood up at the first time when Harry was in danger...
Thinking of what he had investigated before, the corners of his mouth could not help but curl up.
"We can't judge too hastily, Severus."
Then, Ron and Hermione told their parts of their experiences respectively. Hermione didn't have much to say. She just walked around the empty castle for a few minutes and ran into Professor Hep.
Ron's story was much more exciting. Not only did he attack the professor (Lockhart), he also stole his wand. In a panic - Ron tried to beautify it as a sudden inspiration when telling the story - he came to the bathroom and realized that Harry didn't carry a powerful magic puppet, so he jumped down neatly and acted as a "takeaway hero".
"By the way, Headmaster," Ron said a little nervously, "Professor Lockhart's wand was swallowed by the basilisk. Do I have to compensate him?" His own wand was still half broken.
"This is indeed a problem. Gilderoy has been unlucky recently... I will talk to him." Dumbledore said in a relaxed tone, "If he is lucky, his wand is still intact in the belly of the basilisk."
The three young wizards finished their part of their experiences. Professor McGonagall said weakly, "What you did tonight is far beyond your duties. I have to add that you have violated at least more than a hundred school rules along the way - but how did you defeat the basilisk?"
Harry told the story of how he and Ron met near the snake's slough. They walked into the secret room together and then encountered the basilisk. At this point, Harry suddenly realized that he should have stopped near the snake's slough, but he didn't think of it at all at the time.
Am I really a reckless and stupid lion like Snape said?
The story continues. The unexpected visit of the two violated the psychological bottom line of the basilisk - it attacked Harry and Ron crazily, until Fawkes pecked out the eyes of the basilisk, and they barely had the confidence to face the basilisk.
"Professor Hep's magic puppet helped a lot." Harry looked at Felix gratefully. The professor just smiled and didn't say anything. His eyes stayed on the tattered and dirty Sorting Hat. So Harry continued to talk. During the time, he looked at Hermione strangely. He didn't know when she came.
Finally, he told the process of his ultimate jump to kill the basilisk with the cooperation of the three people. So far, the whole story has finally ended.
Felix clapped his hands, "It's a wonderful adventure. I think your story is enough to write a book."
"Felix," Snape said with a long tone, in his unique voice without a trace of emotion, "Perhaps, you see your own shadow in them..."
"No, Professor Snape," Felix said easily, "I am completely different from them. They are all excellent Gryffindors, and you and I," he glanced at Snape, "We are standard Slytherins, aren't we?"
"The Sorting Hat can prove it."
He reached out and took the Sorting Hat very naturally and put it on his head.
