A Professor of Magical Writings at Hogwarts Chapter 280: The Shrinking Sirius

Hogwarts, the office of the professor of ancient runes.

Fireplace.

A bright green flame ignited, and Felix came out with a candy box, patted the dust off his body with one hand, and pushed open the door of the office.

Today is the last day of the weekend, and the corridor is full of bustling and noisy little wizards.

Felix knocked on the packaging of the candy box and whispered, "You are already in the castle, what do you think?"

"I am going to be fainted by the fragrance in here." A complaining voice came from the box, "I was planning to have a good sweet meal."

...

Felix walked into the principal's office, and Dumbledore had been waiting for a long time. "Bang--" the candy box fell on the long-legged table, and there was a scattered rustling sound and a cry of pain from inside--

"Ouch!"

Dumbledore looked at Felix in surprise, and Felix responded with an affirmative look, "It's just what you think... Our guest is a child." So Dumbledore touched the candy box with his finger, and the lid on it immediately popped open.

The box was half full of sweet candies, including exploding bonbons, Bibi Multi-Flavor Beans, Ice Mouse, pineapple candied fruit, toad mints... most of the products in the Honeydukes store were here.

A hand reached out from the candy pile, and Sirius, who was as big as a palm, pushed away the chocolate ball pressing on his head with a grin, pulled himself out with one deep step and one shallow step, and trudged to stand on the top of the candy pile.

He raised his head, and Dumbledore's enlarged face was smiling at him. The phoenix with golden and red feathers made a low cry, and Fawkes flew around the circular office, landed on the long-legged table, and tilted his head to look at Sirius in the box.

Sirius looked at it warily, "Don't come over, Fawkes, I fed you, remember?"

Fawkes called out twice briefly and turned his head away from him.

Dumbledore's azure eyes curved quickly behind the half-moon lenses, and he said gently, "It's amazing, I didn't expect to meet you in this situation."

"Me too," Sirius muttered, he clung to the edge of the candy box, pushed himself up with his arms, and jumped onto the table. He looked around, and the strangely shaped silverware on the table emitted a small puff of smoke, looking like a terrible monster.

"Hurry up and change me back." He said dissatisfiedly.

Unlike Dumbledore's subtlety, Felix smiled happily. He touched Sirius' head with his wand, and his body swelled and enlarged involuntarily. He quickly jumped off the table, and when he landed on the ground, he had returned to his original size.

Sirius stood straight, his back straight. He looked at Dumbledore and said with a complicated expression, "I'm back."

Dumbledore nodded slightly, "Sirius, although Phineas sent back some information, I still want to hear your story in person."

Sirius did not refuse. He was silent for a while, sat on the chair and began to tell the story. He did not look at anyone, but the two people in the office, including the portrait on the wall, stared at him intently.

"... Just like that, I escaped from prison, swam back to England, and then went all the way north, like a demon who came all the way to seek revenge."

Dumbledore concluded, "So, you came for Peter Pettigrew. What about Harry?"

"I haven't had time to think about this question clearly." Sirius said frankly.

"When I knew Peter Pettigrew was still alive, all I had in my mind was thoughts of revenge. But I did see Harry several times. The first was on the Muggle street on the day he left his uncle's house before school started - I wanted to see him before going north, but my transformed appearance might have scared him. The second time was on the Quidditch field - he flew very well, just like James, but I didn't dare to stay long and left halfway. Also, during the Christmas holidays, I raided the Weasley boy near the Whomping Willow, trying to catch Peter Pettigrew. To be honest, I was pretty scared at the time, and Harry's reaction was super fast."

"The last time we met was yesterday. I used Polyjuice Potion to disguise myself as a Muggle kid." He looked at Felix, "Professor Hep's little prop made me fail twice."

Felix bowed slightly.

"How did you know where Harry lives, which is under a curse... Yes," Dumbledore smiled, "James told you, I should have thought of it earlier."

Sirius shrugged: "James visited their home in his seventh year, but the family was not friendly. When he mentioned his favorite broom and Quidditch, they seemed to treat him as a tramp." His words were full of sarcasm.

"Mr. Dursley may not be able to accept the existence of magic," Dumbledore said regretfully, "I met him once, and I would say he is a very law-abiding person."

Next, Felix talked about the Marauder's Map, emphasizing the magical ability of this magical item in finding people. "Neither Animagus, Polyjuice Potion, Invisibility Cloak, nor conventional Concealment Spells can block it."

He suggested seriously, "I think we can try to make a new Marauder's Map."

Dumbledore pondered quietly, tapping the table with his slender fingers, and prompted, "Felix, have you ever thought that the Marauder's Map may still be in Hogwarts?"

Felix replied slowly, "I have indeed thought about this question, and it is not impossible..."

"But the scope is too large. Students, professors, or it may be hidden in a book in the library... If I had it, I would have hidden it very well."

Dumbledore blinked, "I think you may have overlooked a possibility." He said to Sirius, "The ideal heir in your mind should be a Gryffindor who likes to play pranks?"

Sirius nodded, "You are right."

Felix's eyes lit up: "So, the Weasley twins?" This was the first name he thought of. "It

is very likely. In fact, I have a few candidates in mind. I plan to write a few letters. It won't take much time." Dumbledore said.

Felix felt a little regretful, but he cheered up soon. Whether he could find the map or not, he would be happy to see it happen. If he found it, he could borrow it to study the finished product, which would be more efficient; if he couldn't find it, he would gather a team to study and develop it again, and develop more functions.

"In fact, the worst possibility is that Peter Pettigrew stole the map." He reminded.

"That's what worries me. He has plenty of time and reason to do this," Dumbledore said. "The only possibility is that he doesn't think he will appear on the map, so he doesn't take any action."

Felix agreed with this view. He looked at the time. "Principal Dumbledore, there is a small dueling competition at ten o'clock today. If there is nothing else, I will leave first." He pointed at Sirius and said, "He will be left to you."

Sirius' eyes suddenly lit up. "Dueling competition? Harry should also participate? Can I go and take a look?"

Felix looked at Dumbledore hesitantly. Dumbledore frowned. "Sirius, you'd better stay in Grimmauld Place. It can guarantee your safety. The Ministry of Magic is still looking for you. If you are found, we have no evidence to prove your innocence."

"Just this once-" Sirius said pitifully, "Let me take a close look at Harry. I can pretend to be a doll and no one will think of it."

His words made Dumbledore silent. Felix cast a spell again. This time Sirius took the initiative to jump back into the box. Felix tapped his wand lightly and cast a silencing spell outside the box.

Sirius lost his perception of the outside world.

Felix looked at Dumbledore: "He is not good at brain occlumency?" Dumbledore looked at him with a smile, and Felix understood what the headmaster meant.

He picked up the candy box and walked out of the office briskly.
