Chapter 143: BLAZING ATTRACTION

[Music Recommendation: For Whom The Fire Burns (Winterscape remix) ~ Phildel]

Oriana closed her eyes, her hands on Adric’s chest. She could feel his sturdy and broad chest behind his shirt, and with his hand on her waist, she coiled, her breathing a little shaky.

With the darkness came absolute silence in the room. The only source of light was the rays of the moon that cast shadows, giving the room a little light. The silence made Oriana feel every bit of the emotions that passed through her body. Oriana couldn’t deny the effect Adric had on her, something she had never thought she would experience before. His sweet scent, so pleasant to her senses, made her want to bury herself deeply in Adric’s embrace.

Hearing Adric talk about seduction, Oriana raised her face. She wasn’t trying to seduce him, and this was exactly what she was avoiding. She didn’t want Adric to see her as someone without self-control because of the nature of their meetings.

"I wasn’t trying to—"

"Shh." Adric tightened his grip around her waist. He leaned in, his face coming closer to Oriana while his hand traced her back. He was really trying to control himself with her, but it was as if something inside of him was losing control.

Oriana didn’t like him; in fact, she hated him more than her own family. The only reason he brought her back was that he wanted something from her, and by doing so, he had saved her life. That was all it would ever be for them, but right now, with the days that passed, he wanted to have her.

Oriana’s heart raced faster than the horse she used during the race. She didn’t know what had come over Adric to hold her like this and blow out the candles, but whatever it was, she appreciated it and didn’t want it to stop anytime soon. Her body was so responsive and melted with every action from Adric. She craved him, and she wanted him.

This made Oriana remember the words Adric told her on their wedding night:

’You can do anything you want, but if you eventually change your mind in the nearest future, it will come with a price.’

It was as if Adric already knew that her feelings would change very soon. Or did he do all this to sway her heart? Because if he did, it definitely worked. Right now, she was wanton in his arms and wasn’t even ashamed of it.

Adric’s hand moved up to hold Oriana’s neck, raising it slightly to meet his face. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He could have any girl he wanted, but that ended after sleeping with Oriana. He wasn’t someone who could be seduced by just seeing a woman’s body, but all of that changed after Oriana.

There was something about her body, something that snapped something inside of him, making him lose control. Also, after knowing that she cared for him earlier, he didn’t remember all the details, but when he woke up, he saw Oriana resting beside him. All these really confused him. She had even kissed him the other day in the forest. Something must be wrong. Either Oriana had an ulterior motive, or he was just being paranoid. All he knew was that something wasn’t right. Adric cursed under his breath, and without knowing, his grip on Oriana’s neck tightened.

"I can’t brea—" Oriana gasped, trying to bring down Adric’s hand from her neck.

Adric spun her around, pinning her to the wall. "I said shut up, let me think," he growled.

Oriana blinked, her front pinned to the wall and Adric behind her. She didn’t know what else to do but stay calm, but she was really getting scared. She tried to recall if she had done anything wrong to make Adric treat her this way, but nothing came to mind.

Adric battled with his thoughts, with his hand holding Oriana’s two hands behind her and her front pressed to the wall. He initially came to thank her for taking care of him, but when he saw her naked inside the bathroom and later with the transparent dress and flushed face, which looked so innocent.

"Who are you working for?" Adric asked, holding her tightly.

Oriana raised her face, with furrowed eyebrows. "Prince Adric, what are you talking about?"

"Tell me, why are you doing all this? You hate me and wanted me dead for locking you here. Who put you up to all of this, to seduce me?" Adric’s voice got huskier with the seconds.

Oriana sighed. "This is all a misunder—"

"Fucking shut it!" Adric cursed, using his free hand to rake through his hair. "I’ve been here before, Princess. You won’t be the first, so tell me. What do you want? Name your price."

Oriana felt the corner of her eyes prick; it was her own tears threatening to slip from her eyes. "I thought you said you could trust me, and that..." She tried to remember everything Adric ever said to her.

"I did say that because you were the only one who was plain to read. But recently, you’ve been acting out of character. At first, I thought you were just being clumsy and careless, but no, Princess." Adric moved back, turning Oriana around. He held her neck again, but her back was still pinned to the wall.

Oriana shook with the roughness Adric handled her with. She pressed her lips, trying not to cry, but her lips were trembling.

"Tell me, there’s more to this game, right?" Adric’s eyes darkened. "From kissing me in the forest to getting naked in front of me." What angered Adric the most was that his body responded even after knowing it was a trap.

Oriana tried to gulp. "I wasn’t doing it because someone asked me to..." Her voice became shaky. "I also don’t like that you always find me naked," she trailed, her golden eyes anxious as she stared at Adric.

Adric looked down at her lips. They were trembling, as was her body. The girl looked innocent, but no spy would ever look evil. His fingers moved on their own to touch Oriana’s lips. Slowly, he traced them down to her neck, and when she closed her eyes as if submitting to his will, Adric’s eyes moved down to look at Oriana’s bosom. It was a view he had gotten used to. With the dim moonlight, he could see the girl’s pale skin that he wanted to hold.

After having a taste of Oriana, not a day had passed that he didn’t want to go through it again. And now, having her submissive under him, Adric really wanted her again, to hear her scream his name all over again while she’s pinned under him.

All these thoughts Adric struggled with. As he couldn’t control his feelings anymore, he hit the wall with anger, and this startled Oriana, causing her to shudder in fear.

The princess had a great effect on Adric. He decided to give in and have a taste of her. Maybe a taste would quench this feeling.

Coming closer, still holding her neck, Adric could hear the sound of her tiny heart racing against her chest. He was about to capture her lips when he noticed a movement from the side of his eyes.

Adric moved Oriana gently to the side. He walked slowly towards the window, and it was at the same time the person tried to peek through.

Oriana covered her mouth when she saw this, the emotions she had earlier replaced with fear. The fact that someone had been peeking inside her room since made her really scared.

Adric held the person’s neck, ready to drag him inside, but the person dug his teeth into Adric’s hand and ran away from there.

"I’d be damned!" Adric cursed under his breath. He pushed the curtain aside, ready to run after the person, but Oriana held his shirt. He turned with a frown on his face.

Oriana’s hands were trembling with fear as she held onto Adric like he was her lifeline, which he really was at the moment because she was too stunned to even say anything.

Adric turned around to look at his shirt where Oriana was holding. Then he held her hand and brought it down but didn’t let go. He went back to light the candles, illuminating the room again. He saw the scared look on the girl’s face.

"How long has the person been there?" Oriana asked after finding her voice. She wondered when Adric had seen the person.

Adric finally let go of her hand. "I don’t know," he replied with a cold voice.

Oriana pressed her lips. "I’m not working for anyone or trying to seduce you because I want something."

"Save it," was Adric’s curt response. He turned to look at the window one more time. "I’ll get guards to watch your room," he said, and with that, he left the room without telling her the reason he came in the first place.

Oriana covered her face with her hand. She really wished Adric would listen to her. It wasn’t that she was trying to seduce him, but she really did have feelings for him. She turned, going to sit on her bed with her hands on her chest. Oriana knew Adric would find it odd that she suddenly started having feelings for him after attempting to escape his grip several times, but it was something she couldn’t explain.

Touching her lips, Oriana remembered how it felt when Adric’s fingers traced on them. Then she also remembered the person lurking at her window. Oriana stood up from her bed, going to the fireplace. She picked up a log of wood before going to lie down. She needed to protect herself too.
