Freya was restless the entire night, unable to sleep as her mind raced with thoughts of the men and what Rowan might have done to them. She knew Rowan’s temper and feared for the safety of those men though they were foolish with their acts but she didn’t want them dead. Freya recalled how Rowan was looking even angrier than she was. His order for her to return to her room had been clear, he didn’t want to see her outside.
But why? Did he really like her? Was that why he had asked her to be his wife? All these thoughts clouded Freya’s mind as she rolled on the bed, unable to shake off the questions and doubts that lingered until the next morning.
Freya woke up to a soft knock on her door and got out of bed to answer it. To her surprise, Princess Lirien stood in the hallway, looking frantic.
"Freya!" the princess exclaimed, hugging her tightly. "I heard what happened, and I’m so sorry. It’s all my fault for leaving you behind."
Freya tried to push her away, but the princess held her close. "I’m fine, it’s all in the past," she assured her.
The princess pulled back, her expression looking serious. "Past? This is far from over. There’s a royal court meeting this morning because one of the men Rowan hit is the only son of the first state minister."
Freya’s eyes widened in alarm. She had never intended for things to escalate this far. It was all her fault; she should have just let it go and not told Rowan.
"Yes, your father has been trying to make peace, but Rowan refused to apologize. He said the young man deserves even worse than having his fingers cut."
Freya took a deep breath, relieved that the young man was at least alive. "So, will there be any punishment?...for Rows." she asked.
Princess Lirien lips twitched. "I don’t know yet. The young man already has numerous cases of abusing the palace maids, so...we’ll see. The meeting should be ending by now. I’ll go check on the outcome." touching Freya on the shoulder, the princess said. "Take care of yourself, Freya!" before hurrying off.
Freya waved as she watched the princess talk so fast at the same time before disappearing through the passage. She walked back inside her room, now worried about Rowan. It was never her intention to cause so much trouble for him infact all her intentions was to avoid him after seeing him...
The scene she had tried to forget came flooding back into her mind. Rowan’s eyes, locked on hers, as a woman’s mouth wrapped around him. Freya’s face flushed with heat, and she ran to the bathroom to splash water on her face, trying to erase the vivid image from her mind.
"You shouldn’t be thinking about this Freya..." The girl muttered to herself, splashing more water. "I should read...to clear my mind."
Freya changed into a new dress, before leaving her room. Making her way to the library, reading had always helped her clear her thoughts and she needed to do so at the moment.
Getting to the library room, Freya was about to walk inside, when the maid standing at the door said,
"Um...you can’t go in now,"
Freya raised her brows, "The princess said I can use the library when I want, and also I was here with her yesterday."
The maid chewed her lips nervously, "I know...alright you can go in." she opened the door for Freya.
Freya moved her head to the side, she didn’t know why the maid was acting suspicious but she decided to let it be. Walking inside the small room Freya was welcomed by the familiar scent of the library but this time it was mixed with something different like burning leaves and something sweet.
Taking a candle, Freya lighted it up to be sure she was the only one in the room. The incident of the last time she was in the library at Avon, and she saw Rowan and Jasmine, she wanted to avoid it. Especially now that she has seen something she wasn’t supposed to and Rowan has also made his intentions clear, she needed to avoid him and try not to look into his eyes... there was something about the way he looks at her. Freya paused when she realized she was thinking only about Rowan at the moment.
"Why am I thinking about him right now?" Freya shook her head, she came here to clear her mind and not think about Rowan especially about what she saw the previous night. Looking around the room Freya let out a deep sigh.
With the room dark, only illuminated by the candle since Freya had left the curtains closed, she preferred to read in the dark and all alone. The young girl picked up one of the books in shelf and she started reading when her eyes moved to the side towards the corner the princess had asked her not to go to.
"I shouldn’t go there..." Freya said with a small voice as if scolding herself, then a thought crossed her mind. She was the only person in the room, and nobody would have to know if she should take a look at the book. And if it was something she wasn’t supposed to look at like the kingdom’s secret then she would let it go.
Dropping the book she had picked earlier back at it’s position, Freya walked towards that corner. She inhaled deeply, then quickly grabbed one of the books then ran back to her position to hide just in case the princess walks in then she would be able to see her first and drop the book. When Freya sat down the smell of burning leaves became even strong like it was now close to her. She turned around to be sure one of the books wasn’t burning but there was nothing.

Now ready with the book, that she wasn’t supposed to be reading, Freya raised it to her face.
"I will just take a peak and keep it back." she said to herself in a reassuring tone. Then she flipped the book open and read the first letter, "The Mistress’s Tale," the next page she opened made Freya close it immediately then she slowly opened it to be sure her eyes weren’t playing tricks on her.
On the page, was a picture of a young woman with her head falling back and legs spread apart as a man buried his head in between her legs and the woman’s hand gripping her breast, just like Rowan and the woman she saw last night but this time positions were reversed. Freya coughed, looking around just to make sure the maid at the door doesn’t come inside to ask her what the problem was.
Freya closed the book, now she knew why the princess didn’t want her to look at the book. She decided to place it back and act like it never happened. Going back to the shelf, Freya stretched her hand to drop the book but then stopped her grip on the book tightened like she was having an internal battle within herself.
A part of her wanted to keep the book and walk away, she didn’t want to know anything else but there was another part of her that wanted to explore and know more. In the space of those seconds Freya battled with her temptations and self-consciousness.
As a saying always goes, there’s a thrill in the unknown like a devil’s whisper to the unexplored. Even if the worlds in the pages of the book was forbidden for a girl like Freya but the secrets it held were tantalizing tales of pleasures. So the young girl surrendered to temptation, she grabbed the book. And once she did, there was no turning back.
Freya went back to hide at the corner, holding the book close to her chest as her heart drummed noisily. She closed her eyes, biting her lips before she slowly opened the book again. Looking at the pages, she flipped them after looking at the drawn images. They were pictures of same woman sometimes with just one man or two but she was being pleasured in all the Chapters.
"Mmm.." it was only when this sigh escaped Freya’s lips did, she notice that her hand was on her chest, with her fingers squeezing her nipples. She remembered just how she felt when Rowan had touched them, and this caused Freya to squeeze her own again as those pearls hardened on her dress.
Freya bit her lips, squeezing her legs together as she tried to keep her voice down but she felt something pool in between her legs. The next page she flipped, the woman had her legs spread with her and her finger inside her core.
Freya had also seen the woman doing it in front of Rowan last night, and it looked like it was good. She decided to try it out, but the thought was too bold that Freya had to look around the room. Carefully she raised her skirt and as if the scent of burning leaves was filling her senses making her desires uncontrollable. Freya found her fingers touching her wet folds, and as an inexperienced girl she rubbed them. It was like an itch, but it became sweeter every time she gave it a little stroke making her crave even something more. Something bigger than her fingers.
With her lips slightly opened, her breaths coming out in small pants, Freya’s fingers played with her nubs stroking them as she filled herself up with desire. She remembered Rowan touching her nipples and Freya’s hand moved up squeezing her breast. All she could see was Rowan, and the scent of burning leaves filled her mind as she moved her head from side to side. Freya bit her lips, squeezing her legs together with her sticky wetness covering her finger.
"Rowan!" Freya let out a small gasp, and she opened her eyes immediately when she shouted Rowan’s name. Scared of what she had done and what had become of her, Freya pushed the book away and buried her face in between her knees. She hadn’t expected herself to do something like this and most of all why was she calling Rowan this was so much unlike her. She never felt such emotions before.
While the young girl sat there, burying herself in guilt. She didn’t notice someone leaving the library.
