"At the same time, notify Li Mao, Xiao Cheyun, and Xi Sheng to be ready for support. A night battle may begin at any time!"
"Yes!" Shen Qian obeyed the order and retreated silently into the shadows.
The north wind blew across the fields, bringing with it a biting chill.
As the night deepened, the Langyu camp was completely silent except for the monotonous footsteps of the patrol team and the faint groans from the wounded camp in the distance.
However, beneath this silence, undercurrents are surging.
The lights were bright in the central military tent of Cao Jun and Liu Pan. The two men sat opposite each other. The food and wine in front of them had already gone cold, but no one touched their chopsticks.
The wooden plaque with the word "Chen" engraved on it lay quietly in the middle of the table, like a red-hot iron.
"Brother Liu!" Cao Jun finally broke the suffocating silence, his voice dry. "What do you think? This... might be a way to survive."
He pointed outside the tent and said, "If we stay here, Tuoba Xiong will never let us go. He is not moving his troops today, I'm afraid he is mobilizing his troops and preparing to attack us!"
"Han Yanshou's reinforcements? Humph, even if they come, they will first help Tuoba Xiong deal with us."
Liu Pan slowly raised his head, his eyes bloodshot. He lowered his voice, each word coming out from between his teeth:
"Brother Cao, have you thought it through? Once we take this step, there will be no turning back for you, me, and the brothers who follow us."
"Backtracking?"
Cao Jun suddenly became agitated, the blood on his face still unwiped looking particularly hideous under the light. "Am I going to be driven around like a dog by Tuoba Xiong, watching my brothers die?"
"The imperial court abandoned us like a worn-out shoe, and Han Yanshou treated us like pigs and dogs! Is there still a place for us in this world?"
"The Prince of Jin is at least a legitimate heir, a member of the Yin royal family! Zhao Muyun may be ruthless, but judging by his military tactics, he is a true man! What the envoy said today might not be false!"
He took a breath and stared at Liu Pan: "Brother Liu, don't forget the blood that was splashed on us today! That was the blood of our own brothers!"
"Follow Tuoba Xiong, and tomorrow the ones who shed the last drop of blood will be you and me!"
The last sentence was like a heavy hammer, hitting Liu Pan's heart hard.
The tragic scene of his personal guards being blown to pieces seemed to reappear before his eyes, and the thick smell of blood seemed to linger in his nose again.
He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and when he opened them again, his eyes were filled with determination:
"Forget it! Instead of sitting and waiting to die, it's better to fight for a way to survive!"
Liu Pan slammed his fist on the table, "Brother Cao, I'll listen to you! Let's do it!"
