Chapter 505 Yanzhe Mountain

The three thousand cavalrymen led by Zhao Muyun, like a phantom in the dark night, quietly entered the vast Beidi grassland.

The march was extremely difficult.

To avoid being exposed, they often stay hidden during the day and move out at night, choosing the most difficult routes.

They drank cold water and chewed dry food. The war horses were also carefully cared for, and their hooves were wrapped with thick cloth.

"General, thirty miles ahead, through this birch forest, is Yanzhe Mountain! The Northern Di's Golden Tent is located on the north side of the mountain, in the area with the most abundant water and grass!"

The Qiangrong guide reported in a low voice, his eyes flashing with familiarity with his homeland and a hint of revenge.

Zhao Muyun signaled the entire army to stop and hide in the dense forest.

He summoned generals at all levels.

"Brothers, we're here!"

Zhao Muyun's voice was low, yet filled with uncontrollable excitement, "Wumuchi's lair is on the other side of the mountain."

"According to our latest intelligence, the Golden Horde defenders number no more than 3,000, and most of them are old and weak. They would never have imagined that we would appear here!"

He glanced sharply at the crowd and said, "Tonight at midnight, it's time for us to take action!"

"Remember our tactics: Namtso will lead the cavalry as the vanguard, utilizing their familiarity with the terrain to penetrate the heart of the Golden Tent!"

"Wu Shangzhi and Guo Luo will follow up. Divide and surround them. We must completely annihilate the defenders, burn the Golden Tent, and seize all the supplies we can take away!"

"Move quickly and ruthlessly! Behind us, Wumuchi's reinforcements may arrive at any time!"

"clear!"

The generals murmured their agreement, their eyes burning with fighting spirit.

Zhao Muyun raised his head and looked at the night sky through the gaps between the leaves. The stars at midnight were about to reach their predetermined positions.

He slowly drew out his sword, and the cold blade gleamed coldly under the faint starlight.

"Brothers, have a final check of your equipment and feed your horses. When midnight arrives, follow me... and destroy the Golden Tent!"

Three thousand elite soldiers, in this foreign forest, were like a pack of wolves about to pounce on their prey, holding their breath and waiting for the decisive moment.

The night in Yanzhe Mountain is quiet and peaceful.

The stars are twinkling, illuminating the winding rivers and lush meadows.

Wumuchi's golden tent was located on a slightly higher flat ground at the bend of the river, surrounded by yurts of all sizes.

The patrolling soldiers were holding their spears, feeling a little drowsy. Faint sounds of horse-head fiddles and pastoral songs could be heard from the campfire. Everything seemed so peaceful.

No one would have thought that death was quietly approaching from the darkness in the south.

Midnight is approaching.

The war horses' mouths were muzzled and their hooves were wrapped in thick cloth. Everyone held their breath and focused, only pairs of eyes flashing with bloodthirsty light in the darkness, staring at the camp in the distance where the lights were most concentrated.

Zhao Muyun checked his equipment for the last time - compound bow, quiver, triangular spear, and broadsword.

He looked at the Qiang and Rong leaders Namtso, Guoluo, and Wu Shangzhi beside him and whispered, "You three, follow the plan! We have only one target: Wumuchi's Golden Tent. Kill anyone who stands in our way, no matter who they are!"

Namtso pounded his chest vigorously and said in a stiff voice, "Don't worry, General Tian! Wumuchi once slaughtered my tribe, and this revenge will be avenged!"

Zhao Muyun took a deep breath of cold air, suddenly drew out his sword, the sword tip drew a cold line under the starlight, and swung it forward with force!

"kill--!"

There were no trumpets, no war drums, only a low roar as if coming from the depths of hell!

A thousand Qiang and Rong cavalrymen rushed out of the woods like a flood that broke through a dam, and pounced on the sleeping camp like ghosts!

They made all kinds of strange roars, and the scimitars in their hands reflected the starlight and the firelight of the distant camp, full of primitive murderous aura.

Immediately afterwards, two thousand elite cavalrymen from Hedong followed closely behind like spread wings. Although the sound of horse hooves was covered up as much as possible, the noise of thousands of horses starting at the same time still shook the earth like thunder!

“Enemy attack—!”

"Yinjun! It's Yinjun!"

After a brief period of silence, the Beidi camp exploded in an instant, like a pond into which a huge rock was thrown!

The patrolling soldiers screamed in terror, and the sleeping herdsmen rushed out of their yurts in panic, looking for horses and weapons. The entire camp fell into extreme chaos.

The Qiangrong cavalry was extremely fast. They easily tore through the sporadic resistance on the periphery and went straight to the heart of the camp - the most magnificent golden tent!

"Protect the Golden Tent!"

A Northern Di centurion shouted at the top of his lungs, organizing dozens of soldiers who rushed into battle in an attempt to stop this terrifying cavalry torrent.

What answered him was a dense rain of arrows and sharp scimitars.

The Qiang and Rong people did not bother with them at all. They swept past them like a whirlwind, leaving only a pile of corpses.

Namtso was in the lead. He saw the golden wolf-head banner that stood out in the firelight. Hatred flashed in his eyes. He roared and urged his horse forward!

Several Beidi guards standing in front of the golden tent tried to stop him, but he chopped them away with his swords!

At this time, Guo Luo and Wu Shangzhi's cavalry had also arrived in full force.

They worked in groups of three or five, cooperating tacitly and combing through the chaotic camp like a comb.

Rockets shot towards the densely packed yurts like locusts. The dry wool and leather caught fire and spread rapidly, turning half of the sky dark red.

The soldiers wielded their swords and lances, ruthlessly slaughtering those Northern Di people who tried to organize resistance or were in a panic.

This was an unequal massacre.

The remaining Northern Di people never expected that the enemy would appear in the hinterland. Lacking effective command and organization, they quickly collapsed under the fierce and well-prepared attack of the Hedong Army.
