Chapter 518 Encirclement and Reinforcements

Seeing the dust rising from the valley floor, he immediately raised his hand: "They're here! Pass down the order, archers, prepare!"

With a series of soft swishes, the soldier's bowstring tautened with a "hum".

Guo Xiaoti's three thousand troops were halfway into the canyon when his deputy suddenly reined in his horse: "General, something's not right! The mountain ridges on both sides are too quiet; there isn't even a bird chirping!"

"Huh? Where is this?"

"Red Ridge Canyon! It's our only route to Liangzhou," the lieutenant said anxiously. "Could there be an ambush here?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than a rumbling sound came from above!

Guo Xiaoti's pupils contracted, and he shouted, "Oh no! An ambush! Front team, become rear team! Get out of the canyon first!"

Unfortunately, it's too late!

Rocks and logs rolled down the ridge and struck the warhorse's legs.

The lieutenant was shot in the left arm, blood instantly soaking through his battle robe: "General! We're surrounded!"

Guo Xiaoti reined in his horse and swung his sword to cut off the incoming arrows: "You lead the rear guard to hold the retreat! The rest of you, charge with me!"

"Good!" The lieutenant turned his horse around and led the rear guard towards the entrance of the canyon.

But the heavily armored infantry had already pushed down the chevaux-de-frise, their long spears forming a forest, blocking their path.

Li Hu shouted loudly, "I thought it would be Zhao Muyun coming in person, but it's you, Guo Xiaoti. What a pity!"

"You're surrounded. Surrender if you know what's good for you, or today will be your death day!"

Guo Xiaoti sneered: "How could the soldiers of my Great Yin surrender to a traitor like you! Brothers, charge with me!"

He spurred his horse toward the barricades, his curved sword slashing at the infantrymen's spears.

However, the canyon entrance was completely blocked, with no way out.

Li Hu waved his hand and ordered, "Fire! Turn them into sieves!"
