Deep in the Gobi Desert, sand dunes are jagged and endless.
The setting sun hung on the top of the tallest sand dune in the west, burning the sky red.
Several huge sand dunes surround an oasis, with a lake about the size of three or four football fields in the middle, sparkling and emitting a blue light.
Next to the lake is a poplar forest with all its leaves lost.
In the poplar forest, tents grow like mushrooms. Judging from the scale, there are at least two to three thousand people.
There were bonfires and shadows of people.
Zhao Muyun and his men, accompanied by Bai Shouren and his eight bodyguards, followed Huan Naxue, the daughter of the Wuhuan tribe's leader, and her people to her habitat.
Their appearance attracted surprise and curiosity from the Wuhuan people near the lake.
Men, women, young and old crowded around to watch.
More than one hundred bodies of the Wuhuan people were carried back and piled up in rows on an open space by the lake.
The distraught Wuhuan people came over to recognize their relatives, crying and wailing.
Perhaps they have experienced too many life and death situations, and even been on the verge of extinction. Now they can survive, and their hearts are very firm and calm.
They cried for only a short while before calming down, replaced by a deep hatred towards the Tartars.
When they heard that their fellow tribesmen had killed more than a hundred Tartars and seized a lot of supplies and war horses, they immediately danced and celebrated their victory.
It seems as if the pain of losing loved ones has long gone away.
"This is a nation steeped in blood and tears. They have a deep blood feud with the Northern Di people. Through all the hardships they've endured, they've become so strong!"
"They don't want to be oppressed by the Northern Di Tartars and hope that Dayin will save them from danger."
“So, the court sent us here!”
Standing by the lake, watching the Wuhuan people first cry and then laugh, Zhao Muyun called Han Zhong and Tang Yanhai over and took out the brocade box that Yang Jian had given him.
"The Wuhuan people sent envoys to the imperial court six months ago, requesting aid! The court then issued an imperial edict and a golden seal."
"In a moment, we will reveal our identities as soldiers of Dayin and hand them the imperial edict and golden seal."
"So this is the mission Lord Yang assigned to us!"
Han Zhong asked, "Now that we have found them and handed them the imperial edict and golden seal, has our mission been completed?"
"They don't want us to take them back to Dayin!" Tang Yanhai cried out.
He was injured on his back and had no chance to participate in the battle at Yixiantian. He could only guard Bai Shouren and his men from behind.
"Let's go first! We'll talk after we meet their leader!"
Zhao Muyun smiled.
It turned out that just now in the Yitiantian passage, he and the daughter of the Wuhuan leader informed each other of their identities.
However, Zhao Muyun only said that they were the Dayin caravan, and they were chased by the Tartar cavalry and fled into the Gobi Desert.
Uncle Kui then asked about the situation in Dayin, and Zhao Muyun said that he could only tell him after meeting their leader.
Therefore, Huan Naxue and Kui Shu didn't say much, and took Zhao Muyun and others back to the base first.
On the way, Zhao Muyun and Ma Bao treated and bandaged the injured Uncle Kui.
After arriving at the Wuhuan camp, Ma Bao became even more of a treasure, busy treating the injured Wuhuan people.
More than a hundred Wuhuan people died in the battle, and we have to deal with the aftermath.
Zhao Muyun and the others waited on the side.
Bai Shouren had already woken up and wanted to speak, but his mouth was blocked.
Zhao Muyun asked Wang Tiezhu, Shi Yong and others to keep an eye on Bai Shouren and the others, and then took Han Zhong and Tang Yanhai out for a walk, where they discovered the Wuhuan people identifying the corpses and mourning their relatives.
"Master Zhao, we've kept you waiting. We've prepared some food. Please come into the tent and chat with your friends!"
Just then, Huan Naxue came quickly and invited them over.
"Please lead the way, young lady!"
Zhao Muyun said politely and brought Tang Yanhai and Han Zhong to the Wuhuan tent.
......
Inside the big tent, four elderly Wuhuan men were already sitting, including the Uncle Kui whom he met at Yixiantian. However, he was only sitting at the last seat.
The three men looked at Zhao Muyun and the other two with burning eyes, and then focused their attention on Zhao Muyun.
"Nazxue, is he Young Master Zhao? He is indeed from a great country, what a handsome man!"
The old man in the lead had a friendly smile on his face.
Huan Naxue then introduced Zhao Muyun:
"Young Master Zhao, these four are our elders. Now clan affairs are decided by me and them together. He is the second uncle, the third uncle, the fourth uncle, and the uncle Kui!"
After hearing Huan Naxue's introduction, Zhao Muyun suddenly understood.
It seems that Huan Naxue's father, the leader of Wuhuan, is dead!
"Young man Zhao Muyun greets the four elders!"
Zhao Mu saluted the four people and said, "These are my companions, Tang Yanhai and Han Zhong! I won't introduce the others one by one."
"Those people being held captive are spies in our caravan. I will deal with them later."
Tang Yanhai and Han Zhong also stepped forward to salute.
"Thanks to our friends from Dayinlai for helping us defeat the Tartars who entered the Gobi Desert!"
After hearing Zhao Muyun's explanation, the second uncle immediately took a liking to him. "You're welcome, please take a seat!"
As soon as Zhao Muyun and the other two sat down, the second uncle couldn't wait to say:
"Master Zhao, to be honest, our clan has lived in Shulechuan, Fengzhou, for a hundred years and paid tribute to the Emperor of Dayin. The Emperor of Dayin also agreed to designate Shulechuan as our habitat. We guard the west side of Daqing Mountain for Dayin."
"But with the withdrawal of the Dayin army, unrest began to flare up south of the Daqing Mountains. King Zhelan rose to power and demanded we submit to him and accept his rule."
