Chapter 5
◎ There were only three grown men left in the lobby. The postman raised his chin towards Xu Zeli and said nothing.◎
There were only three grown men left in the lobby. The postman raised his chin towards Xu Zeli and said without any taboos, "Did you have that relationship with that beautiful ex-girlfriend?"
The boss said with disdain, "Why are you being so subtle? Just tell me whether you got her into bed or not."
The postman blinked and chuckled, "We've been together before. It would be a shame not to touch such a beautiful woman once, leaving her for other men. Even if you succeed just once, it's worth it. Besides, a woman's first time is so precious."
Xu Zeli couldn't eat. He felt a dull pain in his heart. He murmured, "Of course not. We've been together since she was sixteen. We're a recognized couple. We don't live in a dormitory, we live outside."
The boss patted him on the shoulder and said, "So you're not a virgin!"
The postman asked with interest, "How does it feel? They say it's all the same in the dark, but I think the feel of a beautiful girl is different, definitely better than an ordinary girl. Besides, Bei Bitang's skin is as soft as tofu."
Xu Zeli's fingers turned white as he gripped the chopsticks. The boss asked inquiringly, "You've tried it with pretty girls, so your standards have gotten higher, haven't they? Can you be attracted to ordinary girls? Your fiancée must be even more beautiful than your ex-girlfriend, right? You're so lucky!"
The boss, who has a wife and children, was full of envy in his words.
The postman gloated, "You're lucky, kid. Your ex-girlfriend is in trouble. After they get married, they won't have that membrane, and there's no bleeding. How can she hide it? Even if a woman is beautiful and her husband praises her, and she says she doesn't mind, but men are actually very concerned in their hearts."
Xu Zeli hadn't finished his fried pork chop yet, but the thought of Bei Bitang marrying another man made him feel gloomy and he lost his appetite. He put down his chopsticks, stood up and said, "I'm leaving now."
The boss was surprised and said, "There's still half of the fried pork chop left. Are you done eating it already?"
Xu Zeli didn't respond and strode out the door.
Bei Bitang originally wanted to go find her boyfriend the next day after returning to Shanghai, but she was too timid. The university gate was so high and out of reach, and she was just a junior high school student, not even qualified to step in.
She lacked confidence and was afraid to turn her face away when she saw those high-spirited female college students.
She had no choice but to wait for the post office to deliver the gift, and then she would go to Xu Zeli's home with the gift. She had been dating Xu Zeli for several years and they were already discussing marriage, so meeting his parents was a natural thing.
On Nanjing East Road in Shanghai, a brand new silver-gray Mercedes-Benz 280CE with a foreign license plate stopped in front of the Peace Hotel. The driver got out and opened the back door.
A young man in a black three-piece suit got out from the back seat. He wore small square-framed glasses with silver rims and his hair was combed back from his forehead. Although he was wearing a suit, he had a unique oriental handsomeness.
As soon as his whole figure appeared, he attracted countless eyes, and the tourists next to him looked at him.
Gu Wangxi walked quickly into the hotel and took the elevator straight up to the restaurant's private room on the eighth floor.
Inside the large private room, three people sat sparsely, all dressed in suits and ties. When they heard the sound of leather shoes walking, they all stood up, looked towards the door, and took a few steps closer.
Gu Wangxi walked in and said gracefully as soon as he appeared, "I'm sorry, everyone, I'm late. I'll drink three glasses of wine later. Shanghai is so prosperous that I'm dizzy. It's hard for Mr. Pan, Mr. Cao, and Mr. Li to let me come to Shanghai for business. I feel like a small shrimp. No matter how hard I try, I can't reach the edge of this big city."
The three of them exchanged some polite words, but as soon as they sat down, Gu Wangxi did what he said and poured himself three glasses of wine, which he drank in one gulp.
Mr. Cao, who was bulging with a small belly, laughed heartily and said, "Mr. Gu, you are so happy!"
They were all businessmen, and after taking a few bites of food, they started talking about the main topic of the day.
They were having a great time talking and were about to reach a cooperation when the door of the private room was suddenly pushed open.
A middle-aged man in his thirties rushed in. He was wearing a wrinkled suit, his leather shoes were stained with mud, and he looked dejected.
The three bosses all looked a little panicked. Where did this person come from? This was not the place for him.
Zhou Zhisheng came up to Gu Wangxi and angrily accused him, "Gu Wangxi, I fought with you to conquer the world, and you treated me like this. You set a trap for me to fall into! You've ruined everything I have!"
Although Gu Wangxi was young, he was always meticulous in his work, never leaving anyone any cause for criticism. So what if it was his doing? Zhou Zhisheng had betrayed him, and if he didn't act ruthlessly and make an example of him, wouldn't everyone be thinking of rebelling in the future if he didn't do something ruthless?
Gu Wangxi put down the wine glass in his hand, looked at Zhou Zhisheng, and advised him gently: "Go back, think about your sister-in-law and the children, lest they worry about not being able to find anyone."
But to Zhou Zhisheng, the reason why Gu Wangxi could be so calm and pretentious was simply because he was the winner now and he was the loser. Gu Wangxi was too lazy to even look at him, the loser, and it would be ungraceful to beat a man who was down.
Zhou Zhisheng stared at Gu Wangxi angrily, wishing he could bite him to death, "Gu Wangxi, are you worthy of me?!"
Gu Wangxi let out a sneer as he spoke in a straightforward tone, "Zhou Zhisheng, when you were working at an architectural firm in Hong Kong and were blamed for something, I took you in, regardless of your reputation within the industry. I gave you a well-paid job, brought you to the mainland, provided you with a platform, and even planned to make you the top boss in Shanghai."
"Who knew that you would not only greedily devour the company's money and start your own business, but also take away the team I carefully cultivated, leaving me with an empty shell. Do you deserve my respect? I should be asking you this."
Gu Wangxi looked hurt, which made his partners look sympathetic. They thought it would not be excessive to kill such an ungrateful person.
In reality, Zhou Zhisheng's departure hadn't caused Gu Wangxi any loss; instead, it had helped him clean up his mess. Gu Wangxi had noticed Zhou Zhisheng's embezzlement long before, but at the time, he was busy expanding into the southern coastal markets and had no time to address the matter. He didn't bother with it later, recognizing Zhou Zhisheng's talent and the small amount of money he'd embezzled, which far outweighed the value he'd created for the company.
But he could not tolerate secretly registering a company in Hong Kong.
"Gu Wangxi!" Zhou Zhisheng shouted and picked up the chair and smashed it towards Gu Wangxi.
"Mr. Gu, be careful!"
Gu Wangxi turned sideways, kicked the chair out of his hand, and punched Zhou Zhisheng in the face, knocking him to the ground.
At this time, the foreman and the security guards finally arrived. Gu Wangxi didn't even look at Zhou Zhisheng who was being subdued by the security guards. He lowered his head to adjust his suit and tie and said, "Please call the police for me."
The manager came in to apologize, but Gu Wangxi waved his hand and said magnanimously, "It's okay. It has nothing to do with them."
The troublemakers were taken away, the mess on the ground was cleaned up, and the dishes were served again.
The three bosses sat down and suddenly realized that Gu Wangxi, a returned overseas Chinese in his early twenties, behaved gently and gentlemanly, but his movements when beating people were extremely fierce and brutal.
Recalling the dinner, Gu Wangxi calmly held the initiative in the negotiations in his hands and never let them get even a little bit of it.
