Chapter 128 Scarlet Abyss (I)

Some dialogues on the battlefield.

"Tsk, if this continues, the chances are slim. All this garbage has already been pushed here. Shouldn't we act quickly?"

"What's the rush? With the wisdom of an Ascended, how could we possibly lose? Just to these damn humans."

"That's right. Our Evolvers have already seen through those guys' tricks and are waiting for them to be annihilated."

"They're almost hooked."

"The chief of the Hanging Garden? Haha! I hope you're completely trapped here."

On the tenth day of the battle, it took nearly three days to capture District 5. Is that right? I don't remember much, and it seems like I never wrote this report.

The infected body dug a big hole in my chest armor, the left half of my helmet was also scratched, and there were large and small damages all over the armor.

Because all four knives on my body were cut off and the ammunition was used up, I could only use my limbs. I used the last of my strength to tear open the mouth of an infected body, and then hit the infected body with my fists madly, smashing it like a discus in a scrap metal factory.

I stopped attacking when I saw that the infected body in front of me had been smashed to pieces and was motionless. It felt like all my strength had been drained away, and my hands felt like they were bleeding from being rubbed. I was so tired that I fell to my knees on the ground.

The sweat on my face filled the helmet, and the blood oozing from my gums accompanied by the unpleasant smell of blood made it a little difficult for me to breathe. The huge pain in my body and the fatigue made me want to lie down on the ground for a while.

Lucia had just dealt with the last infected person in the building. She was covered in scars and slowly approached me, hugging my back.

------"commander!"

But she didn't put her body weight on me. Instead, she hugged me and lifted me back. Lucia's mental and physical condition was also very bad, but she was still worried about me.

I was so tired that I couldn't even speak clearly, and I didn't have the energy to communicate with Lucia. We just leaned against each other quietly, looking like comrades who had fought for many years.

It was very quiet around me, as if there were only Lucia and I on the entire battlefield. It might be because I seemed to have tinnitus in my ears and couldn't hear any sound.

---------"commander."

That’s right, I can’t hear any sound, I can’t hear any sound, I can’t hear anything. It’s so strange. I can’t hear anything, but there are sounds echoing in my head, and they are so empty, as if they don’t exist.

I stared at the stain on my helmet with dim eyes, my mind becoming increasingly hazy. I even forgot what I was doing. What on earth was I doing?

My eyelids could no longer withstand the mental fatigue and began to open and close. After a while, a lot of noise suddenly came from the surroundings, but I couldn't hear it at all, and my body fell down uncontrollably.

Liv and the soldiers finally spotted us and rushed towards us in a panic: "Commander! Commander! We finally found you."

————————"Commander! Quick... I..., what on earth..."

So annoying! Let me sleep for a while, stop making noise, um, what's your name?

It should be the 11th day since the battle began. That’s how long it lasted in my memory.

I slept for almost a whole day before waking up in the military tent. An IV was still hanging on my right hand. The wounds on my body had been treated, but my muscles and hand bones still ached.

I opened my eyes and looked around, and only then did I realize that the world in my eyes seemed to be glowing a strange red. What was going on?

————————"Commander, all this...quickly..."

I rubbed my eyes in disbelief, and at this moment Selena suddenly walked in from outside. My vision seemed to have returned to normal, and the world in my eyes returned to its previous appearance.

"Maybe it's just a problem from fighting too much."

I whispered to myself to comfort myself and calm myself down.

Selina rested her forehead against mine worriedly. "What's wrong? Commander, is there a problem?"

I didn't want to worry Selina too much, and my eyesight had almost recovered, so I just shook my head and said, "No, no, I just woke up, and my consciousness isn't stable yet."

Selina finally felt relieved and saw that the potion bottle next to me had almost dripped out. Then she bent down to help me pull out the needle from my arm and gently pressed the needle hole on my arm with wet cotton.

Seeing Selina at this time and in this place actually felt very familiar. I remembered that the armor's communication device and positioning system had been damaged after the battle. How did Liv find me?

Selina's face showed a look of relief. She pressed the needle hole on my head and said thankfully, "You and Lucia collapsed on the battlefield and both fainted. Luckily, Miss Liv saved you, but you never woke up and were in a coma for 23 days."

"23 days!"

I was so scared that I couldn't help but scream, because I seemed to have been unconscious for only one day, how could it be so long?

Selina was startled by my shouting, but she understood. "Commander, calm down. I know it's a little hard to believe, but you were seriously injured and fought for far too long. Most importantly, your infection was already very advanced, and you were nearly dead. Being human is already quite impressive."
