Chapter 19: Desert Swarms

I don’t know how long it was before I finally woke up. The morning sun shone through the window and the train seemed to be stopped. Had I been unconscious for so long?

I turned to the left and saw Karenina sleeping next to me with her hat on. I rubbed my eyes and looked again and found that it seemed real.

Then I turned to the right. Liv was kneeling on the right side of the bed with Lucia sleeping on her legs. I looked at the ceiling again and sat up.

The clothes were still there, and I was sitting on the floor beside the bed. The whole room looked very luxurious. I just sat there blankly wondering what was going on.

Suddenly, Karenina turned over and muttered in her sleep: "Lucia, watch this."

Then a foot kicked me directly in the face, and I screamed in pain: "Karenina!"

Karenina jumped up in shock: "I, I, I didn't make a bomb."

Liv, Lucia, and Ri all woke up. Liv yawned, "Good morning, Commander."

Lucia also sat up: "Good morning, what's wrong?"

I stood up and twisted my neck. I asked, "Why are you all in bed?"

Liv quickly explained: "I'm really sorry, the commander is mainly Miss Jamila. She sneaked in last night to prevent any accidents."

Karenina: "I was just wearing pajamas. How shameless."

Lucia: "This woman is really dangerous."

Li: "Is there no other man in this car?"

Holy shit, is it really that scary? I touched my face and complained, "Karenina, you look so ugly when you sleep."

Karenina blushed and cried out, "Your character is terrible!"

I ignored Karenina and walked to the sink, washed up quickly, then opened the door and went out.

As soon as I opened the door, Jamila was waiting at the door. Jamila smiled and said, "Would you like to have breakfast with me?"

Lucia said gloomily from behind: "You are really haunting me. I can also make breakfast, so you don't need to worry."

I thought about the last time I almost met Hua Lao after eating Lucia's food. I immediately grabbed Jamila's hand and replied, "It's my honor. Just follow me."

Lucia sighed, and Liv hurried to comfort Lucia. Karenina laughed softly and said, "I don't know if the food Lucia makes is edible. It feels like the Pamish virus."

Lucia turned around and glared at Karenina fiercely. Karenina was not to be outdone, and the two of them just stared at each other.

I followed Jamila to the lobby where the party was held yesterday. Vegetable salad and bread were placed on the table in the middle. Sophia and Chang Yu pulled down the switches on both sides of the carriage. The walls on both sides of the carriage fell down, and then the entire carriage lifted up, raised to a certain height, and then stopped.

The sun is only half exposed, but the sunlight is extremely dazzling, making people feel very comfortable.

Jamila sat at the dining table and said, "Wouldn't it be nice to have breakfast while looking at this view?"

I quickly sat down at the table and replied, "Miss Jamila has really good taste."

I picked up a sandwich, took a bite, chewed it, swallowed it, and said with a smile, "Ms. Jamila, did you make this?"

Jamila smiled and said, "Yes, I made this myself."

Chang Yu: "Miss, you are obviously not good at cooking."

I continued, "Yeah, what could go wrong with something so simple? Just mistaking mustard for salad dressing, no big deal."

Jamila still smiled and said, "Really? Am I mistaken? It shouldn't be a big problem, right?"

I looked embarrassed: "Haha, what's the problem? I feel a dull pain in my lower body today."

Jamila: "Haha, Commander, you really know how to joke."

Me: "Haha, this can be considered a joke. Compared to Lucia's cooking, Jamila's cooking is just not enough to send me away immediately."

Lucia pouted and turned her face away. Sofia said in an admiring tone, "Thank you very much for eating the food made by the lady." I didn't answer because my mouth felt very spicy.

Jamila handed over a cup of black tea: "A few cups of tea should help relieve the pain."

I took it, pointed in the distance, and said with a smile, "What's that sandstorm?"

Jamila: "Ah! That seems to be the work of Vassago, the desert monster. It's just a product of the mechanical revival. There's no need to worry too much."

Me: "Haha, really? I feel like they are rushing towards us."

Jamila: "Ah Lala! It seems to be true."

Karenina leaned over to Liv's ear and said, "Is there something wrong with those two? Why are they laughing all the time?"

Liv said, "I don't know. Maybe this is the commander's unique way of negotiating."

Me: "Those centipede-like bugs are rushing towards us, so why don't we just sit here and watch while drinking tea?"

Jamila: "Although it's rare for them to attack us, we do have our own very rough defense methods, Sofia!"

Sophia responded and activated the train's defense devices. A cannon barrel extended from both sides of each carriage of the train, and immediately launched artillery fire at the swarm of insects.

Me: “Your train is really interesting!”

Jamila: “Thank you for your appreciation.”

I was drinking tea and watching the bombardment when I suddenly saw a particularly large insect inside. After being bombarded, it was still moving and quickly approaching the train.

Me: "Haha, Jamila, are you sure that the bug that looks bigger is weak?"
