I was dreaming when I suddenly felt something: "Why, why is the ground shaking? Is it an earthquake?" I was half asleep, thinking, and then suddenly I was picked up. Before I even opened my eyes, someone slapped me twice.
I suddenly woke up and was about to curse.
Mr. Hua shouted anxiously, "Little boy, don't sleep anymore, they are coming." Then he quickly pulled me up.
I asked a little confusedly: "Ah, what's coming? What are you talking about?" I was still in a daze.
Mr. Hua dragged my body while scolding me: "Is there something wrong with your brain? You forgot what I just told you yesterday. Those monsters, you idiot, get up and run for your life." I finally reacted, hurriedly put on a coat and a pair of shoes, and ran out, my face still burning with pain.
I asked in confusion, "Strange, the defense line hasn't been breached yet, how did they get here?"
Old Hua explained in a panic: "I couldn't sleep in the middle of the night and was smoking by the window. Suddenly, I saw a monster crawling out of the sewer manhole downstairs. It was fucking hell, it actually came in from the sewer. How long will it take these damn monsters to dig from the defense line to here?" Old Hua cursed and pulled me to run quickly.
As soon as I ran out of the door, I saw groups of Taia on the street, holding huge axes, fighting with these monsters. These monsters were all robots, with red eyes, like crazy, attacking humans and Taia indiscriminately.
These Taia machines are no match. There are more of these monsters, and they move much faster than the bulky Taia. These guys can't last long.
There were fires everywhere in Kowloon City, and the flames illuminated the entire night sky, but these guys seemed to be attacking Tai'a and not humans, but it should be temporary.
"Old man Hua, come here quickly." Lord Li waved at us.
"Lord Li, why are you here?" Old Hua asked in surprise.
Lord Li said in a panic, "Those guys arrived early. We need to get you to the ladder quickly. Currently, only the Arcadia ladder in the center of Kowloon City is fully repaired. The other two ladders are not repaired at all and have been messed up by these things."
There were a few people standing next to Lord Li, but they didn't look like humans. To be more precise, they were robots.
Lord Li pointed at a robot and said, "Taia won't be able to hold on for long, and it will soon be our turn. Construct No. 2, you go and send this child to Arcadia, and the other constructs go to fight." As soon as Lord Li finished speaking, a male construct nodded and walked towards me.
Mr. Hua suddenly said calmly, "Thank you very much for saving this child."
Lord Li shook his head: "This is what I should do, it's okay."
Mr. Hua suddenly said to me in a heavy voice: "Hua Qi, you must come back. I will go back to the pawnshop now and die with these guys, but if I am not dead, you must come back and see me over there." After saying that, he let go of my hand.
I looked at him in surprise: "What? You're not leaving?" Before I could finish my words, the construct suddenly picked me up and ran away.
I struggled and shouted: "Let me go, you scrap metal, Old Man Hua, why so quickly? Are you so willing to abandon me? Will I be able to see you when I come back? What you said is obviously impossible to achieve, you are a liar." I looked at Old Man Hua with tears in my eyes.
But Mr. Hua turned back to look at me, smiling. I looked at his smile, a little surprised. Why? He was facing death, yet he could still smile. Is this what they call letting go? I stopped yelling.
I ran for an unknown amount of time before I yelled to the structure, "Can you put me down now?"
The male construct was stunned for a moment, then said with a chuckle, "I was just worried you'd end up dragging your feet and refusing to leave, which would be a waste of time, so I planned to be a little forceful. But calling me scrap metal at the end was really rude."
I said disdainfully, "Anyone would scold you like that."
The construct pointed in the direction of the head and said, "So you still want to go back?" I had no choice but to remain silent.
The construct smiled and patted my shoulder: "Then let's go quickly. Time is running out."
There was fire everywhere, and there were ruins everywhere. Those monsters seemed to be able to destroy everything. Some were even gnawing at the houses. Damaged Tai'a could be seen everywhere, lying on the ground twitching constantly, feeling a bit like zombies and feeling disgusting.
Suddenly, the radio sounded: "Now there is a notice from the Kowloon Radio Station. Unknown monsters are pouring out of the sewers all over Kowloon City. The situation is very critical. The Kowloon City Emergency Defense Team is now opening an evacuation route for all citizens. Citizens with the Ladder Seal, please go to Aldia." There was no follow-up to the broadcast. The Kowloon government was still concealing the truth.
The construct suddenly stopped and patted its head. "Oh, by the way, I almost forgot to give you the seal. With this, you can survive, right? I'm so envious. How many people in this city will survive after this disaster?" The male construct looked at me with a smirk. I didn't want to see his eyes and ran forward quickly.
Suddenly, a cry came from this place full of ruins. I asked anxiously: "Hey, did you hear the cry?"
The construct pointed towards a house. "I heard it. Probably in that house. What do you want to do?"
I said anxiously, "Nonsense, we must save him." I quickly ran towards the house.
The scene that came into my eyes will never be forgotten by me. A monster covered in black with red eyes was biting a boy's body with sharp teeth that should not appear on a robot. The girl next to him was crying helplessly.
The male construct took out a gun and immediately shot the monster in the head. The boy's body was covered in blood and torn into pieces. It was no longer possible to tell that he was a human being in his life. The girl was still crying sadly.
