Chapter 17 Sister Xu and Chinese Cabbage
Sister Xu thought for a moment and said, "I think it's best to go around 4pm. People will probably leave after dark. If we go too early, they will definitely take a while to sell. Let's go at a good time."
"Okay, see you at four in the afternoon. Thank you, Sister Xu. And thank you for yesterday, too."
"Well, it's nothing. I just said a few words and didn't do anything."
Sister Xu came to persuade me again yesterday and brought me information about the price reduction of cabbage. Shi Qingqing would not let anyone leave empty-handed, so she simply said that she bought some dried shrimps cheaply from an acquaintance, which were half the price than in the store.
"I accidentally bought too much, do you want some, Sister Xu?"
Sister Xu was tempted. She had heard before that eating this thing could supplement calcium. If dried shrimps were cheap, she could buy some to make soup or cook.
After seeing the quality of the dried shrimps that Shi Qingqing brought, she saw that there were indeed a lot, so she bought three pounds and took them back, her face full of smiles on the way back.
Shi Qingqing returned to the room and began to pack the things she would need for the trip to the beach. Seeing that Zhao Fengnian brought a small pot of instant noodles, chopsticks and a bowl this time, Shi Qingqing covered her mouth and smiled.
This is a lesson I will remember.
The two of them had everything ready, but things weren't going smoothly when they tried to borrow the car.
The person who lent the car to Zhao Fengnian last time was no longer willing to lend the car, saying that there was sand on the tires that had not been cleaned cleanly.
Zhao Fengnian had cleaned the car in the yard, but he couldn't force the car to be borrowed after the other party said so. He apologized and went home.
Seeing Zhao Fengnian's depressed look, Shi Qingqing said, "We have bicycles ourselves, and if that doesn't work, we still have our two legs. Humans have become the center of the world because they know how to use tools, but when we don't have tools, we still have our hands."
Zhao Fengnian stared at his wife blankly as she said this casually. He had a strange feeling in his heart, as if he saw his wife glowing all over but he didn't know what words were appropriate to praise her.
He could only put more effort into riding the bike, and the bike almost reached the speed of an electric bike.
Shi Qingqing put one arm around his waist and held the bucket with the other, feeling that the wind blowing past her was pleasant.
An hour later, the two had ridden to the place where they had dug oysters last time. Shi Qingqing stood on the shore, and a prompt for the Haihuo Mall popped up in front of her eyes as she thought. Ten kilometers to the west, there was a beach with a lot of Haihuo hidden.
Shi Qingqing pointed in that direction, and her "driver" sped up, and soon arrived at the new beach.
The two men went down the main road to the beach, parked the car on a rock nearby and began searching. It didn't take long for them to dig out the remains.
Seeing that Zhao Fengnian had dug several kilograms and Shi Qingqing had also dug two kilograms, she clicked to accept the task.
Twenty kilograms of oyster meat.
I am coming.
Shi Qingqing waved the shovel and started digging. The two worked for several hours, and no one asked for a break even when their arms were sore.
It was not until Shi Qingqing's hands could no longer hold the shovel that she sat down on the edge of a rock to rest.
"Qingqing, are you okay?" Zhao Fengnian turned around when he heard the sound of the shovel hitting the stone.
Shi Qingqing asked Zhao Fengnian to come and take a rest. Seeing that his wife was fine, Zhao Fengnian went to cook noodles with the water in the bucket: "If you are hungry, cook and eat."
Shi Qingqing took the opportunity to weigh the capabilities of Haihuo Mall.
"Twenty-one pounds." What a terrifying weight.
Although she was working together with Zhao Fengnian, who was much stronger than her, this number was still astonishing.
One hundred and fifty hours is a long time in itself, and she specifically clicked on the task only after she was sure that she would gain a lot.
It seems that there is no need to worry about time.
Shi Qingqing regained some strength, and Zhao Fengnian's noodles were cooked. After a simple meal, the two rested for half an hour and then continued digging.
By nearly three o'clock, it was already difficult to find oyster meat in this area. No matter how hard they searched, they could only find a little bit at most. Shi Qingqing had an appointment with Sister Xu, so the couple went home.
"I'm going to sell the meat and buy some cheap cabbage. You can rest at home. You've done the most work today." Not only did he have to dig the oysters, but he also had to ride his bike to take her for such a long time.
Seeing that his wife was able to carry the twenty pounds of oyster meat today, Zhao Fengnian gave up insisting. His arm and thigh muscles were indeed sore and uncomfortable.
Shi Qingqing changed into dry clothes and went to wait for Sister Xu with the oyster meat. Sister Xu also helped her carry the bucket to the vegetable market.
On the way, Sister Xu tentatively asked where these were dug, and Shi Qingqing provided the location.
There's not much you can gain from going to the two places she mentioned, but she's willing to share information that doesn't conflict with her own real interests.
When they arrived at the vegetable market, she asked Sister Xu to pick the cabbages first while she sold the goods.
After Sister Xu left, Shi Qingqing found an empty place and stored them directly in a small warehouse. At the same time, she started charging for items that weighed more than ten kilograms from the previous round.
If these twenty or so kilograms of oyster meat are not submitted together with the rest of the quantity as soon as possible, points will probably have to be collected after twenty-four hours.
With no burden on her hands, the bucket was just right for holding the cabbages. Shi Qingqing found a cart selling cabbages and someone on it shouted with a loudspeaker, "Just take it. It's 30 cents per cabbage. If you want to peel it, it's 50 cents per cabbage!"
The cabbages here are not small, one cabbage weighs about four or five pounds. At 30 cents, it means less than 10 cents per pound, which is indeed almost half the price than usual.
If it's fifty cents, it won't be much different from the usual price.
Sister Xu enthusiastically selected those with good quality and large pieces. People only looked at the number of pieces instead of the weight. For her who knows how to make pickled cabbage, this was a good opportunity to stock up.
When she saw Shi Qingqing coming over, she twisted her body and pushed aside the two people beside her to let her get closer.
"Who is it?"
Immediately, someone looked at this side with dissatisfaction, but Shi Qingqing went over without changing her expression and started picking the cabbages.
When we say we are selecting good quality cabbages, we are simply referring to cabbages with few rotten leaves, that are heavy and complete.
At three cents a pop, Shi Qingqing got really excited and picked out six poppies at once, almost filling up the bucket she brought.
Sister Xu picked ten, and then asked Shi Qingqing to pick two more. "I'm telling you, there won't be much left if you pickle all of this. Listen to me and buy some more when you get this good opportunity."
Then Shi Qingqing got eight cabbages and paid two dollars and four cents. Then Sister Xu took her to squat aside and gave the cabbages she bought to Shi Qingqing to watch over.
"Aren't we going back?"
Sister Xu smiled mysteriously, then squatted here and chatted with Shi Qingqing for half an hour. When the cabbages in that car were sold out and only the crooked and cracked ones were left, the owner simply peeled off the outer rotten leaves herself and only bought the most core ones at one cent per pound. Soon, they were all bought by a vegetable buyer.
At this time, Shi Qingqing heard Sister Xu beside her say, "You stay here and watch the cabbage. I'll be back soon."
She didn't know what Sister Xu was going to do, so her eyes followed her.
