004: Shen Jichuan, I must marry you (1/2)

Sister Ling was two or three years older than Shen Jichuan. She was originally a child bride in a family.

After her husband died, she went to the city to work and ended up in the Shen family's house, but she stayed there.

She later came to Shenjichuan, but never got married, which is why everyone calls her Sister Ling.

After Shen Haiyang was brought to the Shen family by Shen Jichuan, he, a young cadre, still had to take care of military affairs.

They couldn't take care of Shen Haiyang's daily life.

Originally, we wanted to hire a nanny, but the old lady of the old house said to let Sister Ling take care of things.

It could also be said that Shen Haiyang was basically raised by Li Ling after he came to the Shen family.

On one occasion, when Shen Haiyang was sick and Li Ling was taking care of him, she heard him call out "Mom" in a daze.

Li Ling was deeply moved upon hearing this, and her affection for Shen Haiyang grew even stronger.

Treat him like a son.

In the Shen family, Shen Jichuan is the father, Shen Haiyang is the son, and Li Ling plays the role of the mother.

Wen Qiao was sitting at the table eating when she noticed Li Ling's attentive care for Shen Haiyang, and she seemed to be deep in thought.

It seems that Li Ling's hostility towards her is not necessarily because of Shen Haiyang.

It is very likely because of Shen Jichuan.

Because he had been drinking, Shen Haiyang was not thinking clearly. When he heard Li Ling's incessant nagging, he said irritably, "Leave me alone."

Li Ling stood anxiously at the door, watching him slam the door shut.

"When did you become so temperamental?"

"It's still uncertain. Why are you so anxious and angry? Let's wait until the master comes back before we talk about it."

Wen Qiao listened to what Li Ling said to Shen Haiyang and a cold smile appeared on her lips.

I calmly ate my cold dinner.

After eating and drinking her fill, Wen Qiao went straight back to her room to rest.

She traveled by train for a day and a night from the countryside to the city.

After arriving in Beicheng, she searched everywhere for clues about Shen Haiyang and his address.

Shen Haiyang was adopted by Shen Jichuan after his parents passed away when he was seven or eight years old.

However, the letters that Wen Qiao and her mother received were still from the address that Shen Haiyang's parents had given them before they passed away.

Wen Qiao went to the old address, but couldn't find it.

She asked around and finally found out Shen Haiyang's address after he was adopted.

She searched for two or three days in the northern part of the city before finally arriving at the Shen family's residence.

I haven't been able to get a good rest these past few days.

Now they have settled down temporarily in the Shen family.

Lying in bed, Wen Qiao wondered what to do next.

What if Shen Jichuan refuses to marry her and forces her to return to her hometown, just like in her previous life?

No, I absolutely cannot go back.

In the countryside, ignorance can be so profound that even a single spit from one person can drown a person.

She had to persuade Shen Jichuan to stay. If he really didn't want to marry her, perhaps there was another way.

Lying on the bed, Wen Qiao drifted off to sleep after much contemplation.

She waited until the middle of the night, but she didn't know exactly what time it was.

I could vaguely hear the sound of a car, and Sister Ling's voice as she got up and spoke.

The voice was so gentle, it was as if it belonged to a different person.

But she still kept talking incessantly, which was noisy and annoying.

Wen Qiao is a light sleeper, and she will subconsciously wake up, especially when she hears people talking.

She heard the man's low, slightly hoarse voice reject her.

"No need, I've already had dinner."

"Then I'll bring you some hot water so you can wash up," Li Ling said, leaning closer.

Shen Jichuan pinched his brow and hummed in agreement.

He went up to the second floor and saw that the light was on in the room opposite his bedroom. The light was dim, from a table lamp.

He frowned, stepped forward, and knocked on the door.

Wen Qiao was startled when she heard the knocking, but she immediately got out of bed.
