008: Are you prejudiced against Wen Qiao? (1/2)

Wen Qiao left the Civil Affairs Bureau but did not go directly back to the Shen family.

Shen Haiyang isn't home, what would she do back there?

She felt frustrated looking at Li Ling's old face.

Now that she's in the city, she certainly can't just stay idle at the Lu family's house. She did marry Shen Jichuan, but Shen Jichuan doesn't acknowledge her existence.

As mentioned before, she is self-sufficient after marriage.

She can eat and drink at the Shen family's house.

But you still have to pay for these things yourself.

Another thing she wanted to do was save some money so she could take her mother away from her stepfather.

After receiving the marriage certificate, Shen Jichuan took it away.

His exact words were that he was afraid Wen Qiao would use their marriage certificate to cause trouble outside.

Wen Qiao wouldn't do that.

But Shen Jichuan would definitely not listen to her explanation, nor would he believe it.

Then there's no need to say more.

He was a leading cadre in the military region, so he went through the fast track to get his marriage certificate.

The marriage certificate was issued in less than half an hour.

With plenty of time to spare, Wen Qiao decided to go out and explore.

Can't we find something to do?

She didn't even finish junior high school in the countryside, and job opportunities in the city are scarce.

Without connections, it's impossible to find a job in the city.

When Wen Qiao first arrived in the city, she knew no one except Shen Haiyang.

Shen Haiyang now loathes her utterly and wishes she would die a miserable death on the street; he has no reason to care about her at all.

Wen Qiao walked around the streets, but she was short of money. She saw a lot of things and wanted to buy even more.

Finally, after taking a stroll, I went home.

To be precise, she went back to the Shen family home.

After receiving their marriage certificate, Shen Jichuan seemed to have vanished suddenly, not returning for several days.

Wen Qiao was still wondering if Shen Jichuan was deliberately avoiding her.

But upon closer reflection, a man of such high status as Shen Jichuan...

He doesn't even like her, so why would he avoid her?

He's just overthinking it.

During the time Shen Jichuan was away from home, Wen Qiao was not idle either, going out during the day and returning at night.

She actually found a job.

Wen Qiao knew her own level of knowledge and education; if she needed a diploma, she would go to Ye Baita.

They don't want her at all.

Sales clerks and counter staff—they all got in through connections.

She had just arrived in Beicheng and had no relatives or friends, so there was no need to ask.

She is quite diligent; she can cook, do laundry, mop the floor, and take care of the elderly.

So I thought I'd find a job as a nanny.

She wandered around the job market for a few days, squatting under the overpass like many other people from the countryside.

They are selected by their employers.

Seeing that she was a young and pretty girl, but didn't look like she could do any work, nobody wanted her.

She wandered around here for a few days and unexpectedly met someone from her hometown.

The fellow villager was kind-hearted and felt sorry for her, seeing that she was just a young girl who had been looking for work for several days without success.

It just so happens that she knows an older woman who works as a nanny in the home of a military officer.

They're quitting; they're going back to their hometown.

I'm thinking of finding another caregiver for the old lady.

The old lady was particular; her first requirement for the nanny was that she be clean and capable.

It's best if a person has fair and clean skin; it makes you feel good.

After Wen Qiao was brought over, the old lady took a liking to her at first sight. But when looking for a nanny, you have to see what the nanny can do. So she had Wen Qiao cook a meal, wash some clothes, and tidy up the house.

Seeing that Wen Qiao was beautiful but had no temper, she did whatever she was asked to do and was obedient enough.
