119: Sister Wu's reliance (1/2)

When Li Qin arrived, Wen Qiao was cooking noodles.

Li Qin, holding the book she was going to give to Wen Qiao, didn't knock on the door. She called out at the courtyard gate and then pushed the door open and came in.

All I could see was Wen Qiao busy in the kitchen. She was thin and frail, and even after becoming pregnant, she only had a big belly.

Wearing a cotton coat, Wen Qiao's pregnancy is not noticeable from either the back or the side.

But Li Qin knew that Wen Qiao was pregnant.

Seeing Wen Qiao busy cooking noodles, she went over and asked anxiously:

"Why are you cooking for yourself? You're carrying triplets! You're really carefree. Don't you have a nanny? You hired one but don't let her do anything, and you're just paying her to do things?"

Wen Qiao said, "Who would want to cook if they hired a nanny? This morning, I found sand in my porridge. I asked her what happened, and she said the water in the water tank was dirty. But we're not drinking the water from the bottom of the tank, so where did the sand come from? I said a few words, and she left to go find the matchmaker, saying that my wife, a deputy division commander, is bullying working-class people."

"What the heck?"

Li Qin got angry when she heard this.

“Your family paid for a nanny, which is giving them an opportunity to make money. How can this be considered bullying working people? Don’t panic, I’ll go and call my husband, Lao Wang, to come and settle this matter for you.”

Wen Qiao hurriedly replied, "Brother Wang is so busy, how could he have time to deal with the trivial matters of my household?"

"I can still cook now, so I'll do it myself for now. If I really can't cook anymore, then we'll see."

Anyway, Wen Qiao wouldn't dare use Sister Wu.

She had originally planned to make do with it until Shen Jichuan returned.

Wen Qiao discovered the sand at the bottom of the bowl by accident.

Shen Jichuan was worried that Wen Qiao would have low blood sugar during her pregnancy, so before he left, he asked someone to get some brown sugar from the provincial capital.

Brown sugar was a rare commodity; it was rationed and limited in quantity.

Shen Jichuan was worried that if he didn't come back for two months, Wen Qiao would run out of food and there would be nowhere to buy more.

With the Lunar New Year approaching, it will be difficult to buy any kind of supplies then.

I bought a bit too much.

Sister Wu would add brown sugar to Wen Qiao's every meal.

This morning, Wen Qiao told Sister Wu in advance not to put brown sugar in the porridge for breakfast these days.

That's how they discovered there was sand in the porridge.

No wonder she felt something gritty in her teeth when she ate porridge the other day.

She found it strange at the time and asked Sister Wu. Sister Wu said that it is normal for brown sugar to have a little sand in it.

Wen Qiao was too confident. After being scolded by her, Sister Wu dared not make a move for a short period of time.

Unexpectedly, Sister Wu dared not make any big fuss, but kept making small noises.

This time, Wen Qiao caught her red-handed. At first, Sister Wu denied it, insisting that the water at the bottom of the tank was unclean.

Wen Qiao told her to get lost without giving her a single penny.

Sister Wu immediately lost her composure, realizing that Wen Qiao was serious and wouldn't give her any money.

That's when she said that she had been putting sand in her breakfast for the past three days.

She served herself a bowl of the top portion and gave the bottom portion, which contained sand, to Wen Qiao.

Perhaps Sister Wu still wants to continue working, after all, Shen Jichuan promised her a considerable salary.

She didn't dare to go too far, so she just added sand to Wen Qiao's food.

Even so, Wen Qiao felt extremely disgusted.

Hearing this, Li Qin became even angrier.

He put down the book for Wen Qiao, turned around and went home, then called Wang Gang over.

Wang Gang was about to drink with his son-in-law, still chewing on a piece of pig's head.

Upon hearing Li Qin say that Wen Qiao was being bullied by the family's nanny, she was deeply moved.

Wang Gang couldn't sit still any longer, so he quickly got up and followed Li Qin to the Shen family's house.

Unaware of what was going on, Wang Ronghua, the daughter of the Wang family, and her husband Xu Weimin went along.

Wang Gang muttered and cursed as he walked:

"To be honest, I was the one who asked around to find a nanny for Deputy Division Commander Shen's family. I never expected that this nanny would be so unreliable. Has she only been at the Shen family for half a month? She really knows how to cause trouble."
