166: Perhaps a miracle will happen (2/2)

Wen Qiao learned it in no time.

She was focused and attentive as she fed the baby in her arms.

At the same time, Su Mei took the child from Shen Jichuan's arms and sat down to feed him.

Lu Yazhi asked in a low voice, "What about the other child? We've brought these two to feed, but how do we feed the other one?"

Wen Qiao looked up at Shen Jichuan and immediately said nervously and worriedly:

“Ji Chuan, go ask the doctor how to ask the third child. My mom didn’t tell me, and I’ve completely forgotten. I’m supposed to be a mother, but I’m such a terrible one.”

Shen Jichuan said, "I asked the doctor, and he said to feed it little by little with a small spoon."

"She is very thin and weak now, like feeding a baby bird."

After feeding the two adults, Su Mei and Lü Yazhi carried them to the incubator.

Wen Qiao and Shen Jichuan remained in the ward.

Wen Qiao blushed slightly and said softly:

"Sister Su told me that breast milk is the most nutritious. She told me to express some breast milk and then feed it to my child."

"I think this method is feasible."

She was quite embarrassed to manually express milk.

But now, in order to raise her child, she is willing to try any method.

Shen Jichuan reached out and brushed Wen Qiao's hair to one side.

"I'm sorry to have to make you suffer. We will never have children again."

Wen Qiao nodded.

What she really meant was that if she wanted to have another child, it would take at least three or four years. By then, Shen Jichuan would be over forty, and it would probably be difficult for him to conceive again...

She didn't say much about having children, she just hummed in agreement.

Wen Qiao started preparing to express milk, and then handed it to Shen Jichuan to give to the nurses to feed the babies.

Wen Qiao only knew that her youngest daughter was weak, and thought that as long as she could eat, she could live.

Shen Jichuan was worried, and Wen Qiao hoped that her daughter would survive. But the doctor said that the newborn had a heart condition, and if anything went wrong, the child would not survive.

The doctor also said that Shen Jichuan should prepare himself mentally.

These past few days have been agonizing for him, filled with the fear that something might happen to his daughter, Wen Qiao, who has been devastated.

At first, the baby could only swallow and spit up, barely managing to get a little bit into his mouth.

On several later occasions, although the baby did not open its eyes, it instinctively began to suckle.

The doctor who came to examine Shen Jichuan couldn't help but tell him that perhaps a miracle was going to happen.

Three days later, Wen Qiao's body was well-nourished, and her milk came in.

The little baby girl couldn't open her eyes yet, but Wen Qiao still wanted to try; she wanted to feed the child herself.

When her health permitted, she went to the incubator to wait for the time to breastfeed her youngest daughter.

She will only feed her two sons after her youngest daughter stops eating.

Wen Qiao was fit to be discharged from the hospital, but she was worried about her youngest daughter and wanted to wait a little longer.

After feeding the child and returning to the ward, Wen Qiao was alone with Shen Jichuan.

He asked, "Is it because we don't have enough money in our savings account? Then I won't stay in the hospital anymore; my body is ready to leave. Let my daughter continue staying in the incubator."

Shen Jichuan reassured him, "Don't worry if you don't have any money yet. Even if all the money in your savings account is gone, I can still get more."

"I was thinking of letting you go back to have your postpartum confinement first. The baby is staying in the hospital. I've spoken to my supervisor, and they'll take extra care of our daughter."

Wen Qiao shook her head.

"I would rather not have a postpartum period than not stay with my child."

Seeing her like this, Shen Jichuan smiled and said gently:

“It’s not that I’m ignoring her, it’s that I’m worried about your health. You need to rest too. Women need to have a postpartum period after giving birth, otherwise, they will develop health problems later.”

“Xiao Qiao, I love this daughter very much. I was the first person to hold her when she was born.”

What's even stranger is that amidst that melancholy and bittersweet feeling, there's also a strange joy of something lost and then regained.

He felt as if his child was his child in a past life.

He was never superstitious, but through the child, he felt as if people really had past and present lives.

Could it be that he and Wen Qiao had some kind of entanglement in their past lives?
