233: Wen Qiao, come to the study. (2/2)

He said, his face looking very pale:

"Xiao Zheng, what are you doing standing here? Aren't you a childcare worker supposed to be taking care of the children?"

Zheng Qing said with a smile, "Auntie, I just saw the commander smoking outside, so I brought him a cup of tea."

Lü Yazhi snorted and said in a deliberately sarcastic tone:

"You're so perceptive! Are all the other caregivers like you?"

Zheng Qing's expression immediately turned sour, but because Lü Yazhi was Shen Jichuan's mother-in-law, she didn't say anything more.

Inside the study.

Wen Qiao pushed open the door, went inside, and then closed it behind her.

She rarely came to Shen Jichuan's study.

After all, this is his office, and also where he keeps some confidential documents.

Even when she had just married Shen Jichuan, she rarely came to his study.

She was afraid that if anything was missing or added to the study, she would become the suspect.

But now, it was Shen Jichuan who summoned her.

As soon as I came in and stood in front of him, he casually slammed the teacup on the table.

Just as Wen Qiao was about to ask a question, she saw a signal in his eyes for her to remain silent.

After waiting a while, Shen Jichuan reached out to Wen Qiao, "Come here."

Wen Qiao obediently walked over.

She asked softly, "What happened just now?"

"You suspect Zheng Qing of having a problem?"

Shen Jichuan did not answer, clearly indicating that Zheng Qing was not as important as the person in front of him, and was more worthy of his interest.

He simply held Wen Qiao's hand and embraced her.

He sat in the chair, his hands around Wen Qiao's waist, facing her.

He said, "Do you remember the first time I called you to the study? You were sitting on my lap like this."

Wen Qiao smiled and said, "You have such a good memory. I had forgotten everything, but you still remember."

When he heard her say she forgot, the hand on her waist tightened its grip a little more.

"So young, yet your memory is worse than mine, an old man's?"

Wen Qiao reached out and pinched his cheek.

Although Shen Jichuan is over forty, he looks remarkably young, appearing at least ten years younger than his actual age.

I've just been a bit busy lately, and I look a little haggard and worn out.

But his height and charisma remain, and even with the signs of age around his eyes, his handsomeness and charm are still undiminished.

"Who said you're old? In my eyes, you're still young."

"I think I cooperated pretty well just now?" Wen Qiao asked with a flattering smile.

Shen Jichuan grabbed Wen Qiao by the waist with one hand and pressed him against his hard, rock-like chest.

With his other hand, he cupped the back of her head and kissed her.

"It's not just acceptable, it's incredibly realistic."

He almost genuinely thought that Wen Qiao was going to leave him with her daughter.

"Xiao Qiao, we're just pretending for now, don't take it too seriously. You have to remember, I'm your husband, your man."

How uneasy he must have felt.

He had just finished acting out a scene where he vowed never to remarry Wen Qiao and was coldly indifferent to her. He turned around and hugged his wife, telling her not to take it too seriously.

Wen Qiao smiled and responded to his kiss.

While Wen Qiao does like Shen Jichuan, she's not simply a hopeless romantic.

Shen Jichuan didn't finish what he was saying.

Wen Qiao looked at him, her little face showing a hint of seriousness as she asked.

“You didn’t finish what you were saying. You called me to the study and then smashed the teacup. You must have something to say to me.”

Shen Jichuan looked at Wen Qiao, who was quite rational and clear-headed, and reached out to smooth her hair.

"You're such a smart kid..."
