266: Onboarding Translator (1/2)

Wen Qiao's interview at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs went very smoothly, probably because Shen Jichuan had put in a good word for her. One of the translators was named Wang Xin.

He took Wen Qiao directly to the interview.

Wen Qiao's physical appearance, spoken language, and translation skills are all evident to all.

Two foreign language majors also came for the interview.

The man's name is Sun Zhiyu. He graduated from Beicheng Foreign Language Institute and was sent abroad to study for a year on a government scholarship.

The woman, Yao Meng, was the daughter of a professor at a prestigious university who studied American economic issues, and a retired member of a military arts troupe.

Wen Qiao was waiting right behind them, so she heard their self-introductions clearly.

Of the three, Wen Qiao's education and family background were the least noteworthy.

But Wen Qiao's advantage is that she speaks French.

Unsurprisingly, Wen Qiao and the other two comrades were left behind.

When she first arrived, Wen Qiao told her mother that she was there to work, and that people valued her work ability, not her ability to serve tea and water.

Unexpectedly, after passing the interview, they were immediately assigned to do odd jobs.

Recently, a foreign ambassador was visiting, and there was a lot to prepare, so Wen Qiao and her team were called in.

The conference hall was quite large, but apart from a few staff members, I didn't see any other leaders.

Wang Xin called to Wen Qiao and the others, saying, "You guys should arrange the venue first."

"I've been quite busy these past few days. Now that you've all been approved, let's get some work done. Don't worry, you'll be paid."

"After these few days are over, there will be intensive training, but it won't last long."

Wen Qiao nodded and said okay.

Yao Meng frowned and asked, "We're here to work as translators for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Are we supposed to do these odd jobs too?"

Wang Xin smiled and said in a good-natured manner, "It's best to get familiar with the environment first since you've just arrived."

Wen Qiao didn't speak; it wasn't a good time to say anything.

She figured that since she was here to work anyway, working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was better than working at the counter at the supply and marketing cooperative.

Wen Qiao was only focused on doing her job well.

Wang Xin said that once the work was done, they could go back.

I'll officially start work tomorrow.

Wen Qiao wanted to finish her work as soon as possible and leave. Since they had already said so, she didn't want to waste any more time here.

After Wang Xin finished speaking, he noticed that Wen Qiao had only asked about the number of people in the venue.

And what to prepare, or whether there are any rules regarding the placement of items.

Wang Xin didn't say anything on the surface, but he was surprised in his heart. Among these people, Wen Qiao looked the youngest and harmless.

Even Wang Xin thought that the only reason he was able to keep Wen Qiao was because of her outstanding appearance and strong foreign language skills.

He was also worried that if they encountered a big scene, someone like Wen Qiao, who looks very timid, might get stage fright.

Unexpectedly, it was she who thought of things most meticulously and thoughtfully.

After answering Wen Qiao's question, Wang Xin went to attend to other matters.

Seeing that Wen Qiao was busy, Yao Meng and Sun Zhiyu went over to her.

Yao Mengxian asked Wen Qiao, "Comrade Wen Qiao, what is your educational background? I feel like you know quite a lot."

Wen Qiao humbly and truthfully replied, "I don't have much formal education; I just learned a foreign language."

Sun Zhiyu didn't believe it at all when he heard this.

He looked at Wen Qiao and said with a smile, "Comrade Wen Qiao, when the interviewer asked you questions, we were all outside, and I heard it clearly. Your interpreting skills are really impressive."

Wen Qiao said, "I have studied it. I found a teacher and studied for a period of time."
