Shen Jichuan looked at his wife, who was staring at her mother-in-law's departing figure, and waved his hand in front of her.
Missing your mom?
"When Old Wu retires, we'll have them all come to our house to live out their retirement years, so you can see your mother every day."
Wen Qiao suddenly laughed.
"Do you think I'm that naive? I just think my mom is really happy now."
She may have had a few good years when she married her father, but those good years didn't last long; she suffered for more than a decade.
She finally achieved a truly prosperous life after all this time, and Old Wu was genuinely good to her, even paying for her to take over a restaurant.
If it weren't for Old Wu's support, or if Old Wu hadn't wanted my mother to go out and do business, she wouldn't have been able to do it.
Wen Qiao felt that as long as her mother was happy, she would definitely treat Old Wu as her father and take care of him in his old age and until his death.
***
Wen Qiao had originally planned to have dinner with Huo Yan over the weekend, but when Wen Qiao got off work, Zhao Qingzhou asked her if she was free over the weekend because his son, Zhao Chengze, wanted to come to her house to play.
Zhao Qingzhou was actually quite embarrassed when he said this.
He initially had feelings for Wen Qiao, but after learning that Wen Qiao's husband was Shen Jichuan, his feelings for her quickly faded away.
But his son, Zhao Chengze, was unaware that his father had developed feelings for the older sister who had previously taken care of him.
Seeing Wen Qiao's hesitant expression, Zhao Qingzhou said, "If it's inconvenient, then forget it. I'll explain it to him later."
Wen Qiao explained softly, "It's not that it's inconvenient. I'm planning to take the children out to eat with a friend this weekend. Director Zhao, if you're comfortable with that, you can bring your son over, and I'll take care of him for a day."
"I was just worried that you wouldn't feel at ease. After all, every child is a precious treasure."
"That's great. I trust you completely," Zhao Qingzhou said immediately.
After speaking, Wen Qiao went home. Zhao Qingzhou asked for Wen Qiao's home address, thinking that he would send his son there the next morning.
This was Zhao Qingzhou's first time visiting Wen Qiao's home.
Wen Qiao hadn't expected her boss to arrive so early. The children at home hadn't gotten up yet, and Shen Jichuan was still in bed, having just been trying to get her out of bed.
The nanny said that Xiao Qiao's guests had arrived.
Wen Qiao immediately thought of Zhao Qingzhou, so she quickly got dressed and went downstairs to the second floor.
Zhao Qingzhou was dressed in a long black trench coat over a black sweater. He was tall and upright, and a boy dressed similarly to him stood beside him.
"Aunt Wenqiao, I've come to see you."
"I brought gifts for you and your little sister."
Wen Qiao smiled and reached out to rub Zhao Chengze's head. "You really put in so much effort."
Wen Qiao then looked at Zhao Qingzhou.
"You got up really early this weekend."
Zhao Qingzhou smiled gently, "Xiao Ze got up early. Knowing that I was going to bring him to your house to play today, he didn't sleep well last night."
"Then I'll have to trouble you today, Wen Qiao. I'll pick him up later."
As Zhao Qingzhou spoke, he glanced at his wristwatch.
Wen Qiao found it strange; why was Zhao Qingzhou so busy on the weekend?
After Zhao Qingzhou left, Zhao Chengze tugged at Wen Qiao's clothes.
She whispered, "Aunt Wenqiao, my dad is going on a blind date. My grandma told me this when she picked me up from school on Friday. She wants my dad to find me a mom."
As Zhao Chengze spoke, he looked up at Wen Qiao.
