369: Guaranteeing Feng Yan, a Mutual Benefit (2/2)

"The people of that country are inherently cunning, unlike us, whose fundamental nature is kindness and honesty. They harmed people of all ages and genders. Yet we were able to kindly adopt the people left behind by their atrocities on this land."

“Feng Yan, I can help you sort this out. You also have to promise me one thing. I know you have some skills, so help me contact some detectives abroad and find some reliable bodyguards to protect Wen Qiao.”

Feng Yan immediately asked cautiously and seriously, "What happened to Wen Qiao?"

“Wen Zhengnian approached her, and Wen Zhengnian is no kind person.”

Whether in letters or on the phone, Wen Qiao always emphasized that she could take care of herself, based on Shen Jichuan's understanding of Wen Qiao.

Actually, this was the time when she felt most uncertain, otherwise she wouldn't have repeated the same sentence.

But what could she do?

She genuinely chose to give up her studies abroad because Wen Zhengnian approached her.

Shen Jichuan asked Wen Qiao to inform the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is her superior in her unit, about Wen Zhengnian's situation.

But from Wen Qiao's perspective, she had concerns.

Wen Zhengnian has a special identity; he embezzled state assets back then. If Wen Qiao reports this or goes to the embassy...

According to domestic procedures, she and Shen Jichuan would definitely be taken away and interrogated repeatedly.

Previously, with Old Wu and Old Huo around, they had some influence no matter what.

In recent years, however, Old Master Huo's health has been poor, Huo Dongqing went abroad, and he rarely appears in public, as if he has cut off all ties with the outside world.

After Old Wu suffered a stroke, he immediately retired.

Wen Qiao was worried that when the investigation into her relationship with Wen Zhengnian took place, Shen Jichuan would be the one most severely implicated.

She's now trying to think of a way to minimize the impact on Shen Jichuan.

That's why she told Shen Jichuan, somewhat ramblingly, that it was alright, she could handle it.

***

Actually, everyone expected this.

Wen Qiao, Huo Dongqing, and Shen Jichuan all anticipated that Wen Zhengnian would seek out Wen Qiao again.

When a black sedan stopped in front of Wen Qiao, Tang Yuanyuan, who was walking back to her apartment with Wen Qiao after class, immediately became nervous.

She subconsciously grabbed Wen Qiao's hand and looked at a man dressed in black getting out of the black car.

"Who are you, and what do you want?"

Wen Qiao immediately guessed who had come.

She reached out and gently patted Tang Yuanyuan's hand.

He said in a low voice, "Call Dr. Huo when you get back and tell him that I've been picked up. He'll know how to find me."

Wen Qiao glanced sideways and spoke in a low voice in Chinese.

Tang Yuanyuan immediately understood what Wen Qiao meant.

After releasing Tang Yuanyuan, Wen Qiao looked at the man in black and said coldly, "As expected, they came quite quickly."

She turned and got into the black car.

Once inside the car, Wen Qiao felt completely free and unrestricted.

Only after Wen Qiao got into the car did the man who was responsible for picking her up speak to her in Chinese:

"The old man has always wanted to see you. Don't be afraid. He is your grandfather and he would never harm you."

"Really? You wouldn't harm me, so why would you send people to China to kidnap my daughter and drug her?"

The man in black was Wen Zhengnian's butler. Hearing Wen Qiao's words, he immediately frowned.

He said with certainty, "Impossible. The old man didn't send anyone back to China."
