Chapter 113 Killer

After the task of investigation was assigned to Xiao Zhaolin and Prime Minister Zhang Wenfeng, almost all matters fell into the hands of the two of them.

However, Su Lijin tried to insinuate things several times in the palace, but the results she got were not satisfactory.

Obviously, Xiao Zhaolin and Zhang Wenfeng were making very slow progress in handling the case, and they simply couldn't find any useful clues that quickly.

She knew very well that in the imperial study, Xiao Zhaolin and Zhang Wenfeng obviously felt that this case was a hot potato, and they didn't even have time to push it away, and didn't want to take it on themselves at all.

But Xiao Shengxing had already ordered them to investigate, so they reluctantly accepted the order.

Presumably, even if they investigated, they wouldn't give it their all.

Thinking of this, Su Lijin felt that she couldn't wait any longer. By the time the two of them finished their investigation, the clues might have been erased, and by then, it might be difficult to investigate the case thoroughly.

After a while, she dressed in Shiqi's clothes and wore a mask and went to Xiao Zhaolin's mansion.

"Your Highness is worried about the murder case?"

She appeared quietly and leaned against the pillar.

Xiao Zhaolin turned around and saw her suddenly, narrowing his eyes. "How do you know what I'm worried about? What's your purpose in coming here?"

Su Lijin smiled and said slowly, "Recently, the news has spread throughout the imperial city and beyond. The murder case has caused panic among the people. His Majesty has appointed His Highness and the Prime Minister to handle the case. This is a well-known fact."

Hearing this, Xiao Zhaolin's expression relaxed slightly, but his eyes were still fixed on her.

"As for my purpose of coming here..."

After taking two steps forward, Su Lijin said, "Your Highness, Shiqi is not talented, but I am willing to help Your Highness investigate the case."

Hearing this, Xiao Zhaolin pursed his lips slightly, his eyes full of doubt: "You come to help me?"

"That's right." Su Lijin nodded.

Xiao Zhaolin's eyes were filled with doubt: "What ability do you have to be able to help me?"

"Your Highness, do you want to see my abilities?" Su Lijin raised her eyebrows.

Looking her up and down, Xiao Zhaolin smiled and pointed at the man standing beside him: "First, defeat this subordinate of mine."

The man took a step forward. Su Lijin looked up and raised her eyebrows. The person in front of her was Gu Han.

Gu Han looked at Su Lijin, his face devoid of any other emotion. He clasped his hands together and said, "I won't be polite."

Before he finished speaking, he drew the long sword from his waist and stabbed it fiercely.

Su Lijin smiled slightly and said, "Just try your best."

After all, she is Gu Han's apprentice. Although she learned skills such as human skin mask making from Gu Han, this competition is still a competition between master and apprentice, so she is still a little excited.

He bent his body backward to avoid the sword. Before Gu Han could strike the second sword, Su Lijin had already circled to Gu Han's side and pointed the long sword towards Gu Han's waist.

This sword was faster than Gu Han's. A hint of excitement flashed in Gu Han's eyes. He obviously felt that he had met his match.

He did not dare to be careless and fought back with all his strength. The swords of both sides made a clanging sound in the air.

Xiao Zhaolin, who was sitting on the side watching, looked slightly surprised. Gu Han was one of the best under his command, but he didn't expect that Shi Qi could actually compete with him.

But then, the result of the competition made him dumbfounded.

I don’t know how many rounds of fighting went on, but I heard a sharp sound of sword and a long sword was pressed against Gu Han’s chest.

"The competition is over." Su Lijin was sweating, but her eyes were particularly bright. She looked at Gu Han with a smile.

Gu Han glanced at the tip of the sword and bowed sincerely, saying, "I have been defeated and I admit defeat."

This competition was held under Xiao Zhaolin's nose. He used more than 90% of his strength and did not dare to let Xiao Zhaolin notice anything unusual.

Su Lijin retracted her sword and immediately bowed. She thought to herself, "Master, I'm sorry for the offense. Please don't be angry." She said, "Thank you for letting me win. I've just witnessed your strength. It was really a little luck that helped me win."

Xiao Zhaolin then clapped his hands and said, "I didn't expect that Shiqi's strength would surpass that of a capable subordinate like me. This is truly impressive."

But he was suspicious by nature and would not easily trust Su Lijin, so he said politely: "That's it for today's competition. I will have plans for the case, so it's not convenient to reveal too much to outsiders at the moment."

This statement was almost equivalent to refusing to let Su Lijin join the case.

How could Su Lijin not hear it?

She smiled without showing any dissatisfaction, took something out of her bosom, and said confidently, "Your Highness, don't be impatient. Take a look at what this is first."

Hearing this, Xiao Zhaolin looked at the thing in her hand. When his eyes touched that thing, his expression changed slightly: "This is the Queen's token. How did you get it?"

He looked at Su Lijin with a curious gaze, his eyes moving back and forth between the token and her face.

After putting the hairpin token back into her arms, a look of satisfaction quickly flashed across Su Lijin's face.

As expected, Xiao Zhaolin was an extremely suspicious person and would never let her participate in the case investigation easily.

Fortunately, she thought of this before she went out and prepared this token.

Recovering her thoughts, she nodded and said, "Your Highness, I am the Queen's man. The Queen sent me here to help Your Highness investigate the case."

"The Queen sent you to help me?" Xiao Zhaolin was obviously a little surprised, with a hint of doubt in his eyes.

Su Lijin nodded again: "The Queen knows that it is not easy for Your Highness to solve the case. She specifically asked me to assist you as much as possible so that Your Highness can solve the case as soon as possible and receive the reward."

"In that case, that would be great!"

Upon hearing this, a look of surprise appeared on Xiao Zhaolin's face. He obviously believed what he said and was happy that he had received help.

"But when did the Queen have someone as powerful as you?"
