Chapter 211 The Jiang Family Comes to the Door

Lu Cijian was sitting on a chair by the door, whittling bamboo arrows. However, he didn't move the bamboo arrows and dagger in his hands for a long time. His already cold face became even colder because of his tightly furrowed brows.

His mind was filled with the words Mianmian had said to him yesterday when she rejected him.

He thought they were already quite familiar with each other, and that they wouldn't have to care about unimportant things, but it seemed that wasn't the case.

Mianmian preferred to earn money through business and was unwilling to accept his gifts.

It's just a few small shops, and he hasn't given them what he wanted to give them yet.

The more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became. He looked down at the things in his hands and was about to put them away when he heard a cheerful voice say, "Come have dinner with us later."

Jiang Yimian stood in front of the boy, her eyes crinkling with laughter.

Lu Cijian looked up and met those beautiful eyes. Her heart skipped a beat, but she quickly looked away and said indifferently, "I have something to do, I'm not going."

After saying that, he lowered his head again, looking like he was carefully whittling bamboo arrows, but the coldness around him unconsciously diminished.

"Wow, you're so rich! I even paid for your meals, but you didn't come to eat. I guess I was too polite yesterday."

Jiang Yimian sat down on the low stool next to him, propped her chin up with one hand, and looked at the person beside her with a smile on her face.

This seemed to be the first time Lu Cijian had taken the initiative to get angry with her. Oh, the second time. The last time was because she had asked the other party to consider Li Chunhua.

He only briefly locked her out, and then went back to the small depression with her for dinner that night as if nothing had happened.

It seems that he has managed to comfort himself.

I have no idea what this person is angry about, or how they managed to appease me.

Although Lu Cijian deliberately kept her head down and didn't look at the people around her, she could still feel that intense gaze fixed on her face, and her ears turned red involuntarily.

He coughed lightly, somewhat awkwardly, and said, "It's good that you know."

Although his tone was still stiff, he knew that the frustration in his heart had vanished.

Jiang Yimian was taken aback, staring at the handsome face in front of her, and said with a smile, "Yes, yes, it's my fault, so are you still angry?"

Lu Cijian glanced at her lightly, put away the dagger and bamboo arrow in his hand, and said gently, "Let's go."

Jiang Yimian was still a little confused and asked blankly, "Where to?"

Lu Cijian glanced at her and said matter-of-factly, "I'll go eat with you."

So, without figuring out how to coax Lu Cijian, Jiang Yimian, returned home with a bewildered look on her face, having already been appeased.

She hasn't even put up a fight yet, and she's already not angry anymore? She's so easy to coax.

During lunch, Zhao Dashu and Song Er could clearly feel that the coldness around Lu Cijian had dissipated a lot, and his mood had obviously improved.

Although he still didn't talk much, the cold lines on his face softened.

In particular, the look in his eyes when he looked at Jiang Yimian was not at all resentful, but rather very gentle, which made the others marvel.

Song Er stared at Lu Cijian with a strange expression, feeling more and more that his young master had changed.

In the past, the young master rarely got angry, and once he did, it would take him at least ten days to half a month to recover. But this time, after only one night, he was inexplicably happy again.

His intuition told him it must be because of Jiang Yimian.

His gaze fell on Jiang Yimian's face, but after looking at it for a long time, he couldn't see anything. Suddenly, he received a chilling gaze, which startled him so much that he quickly lowered his head and ate his rice, not daring to look around anymore.

Everyone enjoyed the meal, except for Song Er, who ate so much rice that his stomach ached.

At this moment, at the entrance of Qingshi Village.

Granny Wu and her group frowned as they looked at the dilapidated village before them, feeling as if they had been tricked.

Looking around, all you see in the village are thatched huts, and most of them are dilapidated. They don't look like the homes of any wealthy people.

It's not even half as good as Xinghua Village used to be. At least in their village there were a few brick and tile houses, and most of them were adobe houses. Unlike this village, which is almost entirely thatched huts, you can hardly see any adobe houses.

Old Jiang frowned, and after a while said, "This is the village, isn't it? Do those people from the eldest son's family really live here?"

He still couldn't quite believe that the sickly eldest son and his three children were still alive.

Along the way, he inquired about a lot of news about Xinghua Village. He heard that it had not only been occupied by bandits, but had also been burned to the ground.

Many people in the village have died, not to mention the sick members of the eldest son's family and the young children.

It's a miracle they didn't die, let alone do business.

Li and Jiang Erzhuang were also filled with doubt, and they began to have doubts about the authenticity of Jiang Yaoguang's letter.

If the eldest son and his family had really made money in business, why would they still be living in such a dilapidated village?

They had just walked through several villages, and it was clear that they were all poor people, and it was hard to say whether they could even get enough to eat. To think they could do business was simply a joke.

Jiang Donghua looked around curiously, her mind filled with thoughts of them coming here to live a good life.

As she was looking around, she suddenly met the gaze of Chen Guixiang, who had just returned from town. She quickly tugged at Granny Wu's sleeve.

"Grandma, this looks like someone from the village."

Granny Wu quickly looked at Chen Guixiang, sized her up a few times, and said, "Is there anyone in your village named Wang Fengqin? She has three children with her."

Chen Guixiang glanced at the five people in front of her. Although they were dressed relatively cleanly, they were still in coarse linen clothes, and each of them was thin and frail, suggesting that they did not live a very good life.

He immediately guessed that they were probably Jiang's poor relatives who had come to freeload. He already harbored resentment towards the Jiang family, and seeing these people, he also gave them a cold look and snorted, "I don't know."

She gets annoyed just seeing the Jiang family members. If these guys came to the village, she'd probably be furious every day.

They hadn't gone far when they heard the little girl's dissatisfied voice, "Grandma, is Brother lying to us? How could Aunt and her family be in business? With Aunt's weak nature, she's probably dead by now. Should we go back?"

In my memory, my aunt and cousin were both weak-willed. They fought with many people for food and encountered many bad people on their way to escape famine. Someone like my aunt would probably be dead long ago and would not be alive today.

Not to mention that he also brought his younger cousins.

Granny Wu glanced around at the thatched huts with some annoyance and said with dissatisfaction, "Whether she's dead or not, let's go in and see for ourselves first, and see if she's really living a good life behind my back."

If it's fake, all the better. But if it's real, I definitely won't let them off easily.

With that, he immediately led his men into the village.

Chen Guixiang stopped in her tracks, and only after the others caught up did she ask curiously, "Who are you to Jiang Yimian?"

Granny Wu glanced at her and said irritably, "I'm Jiang's grandmother. Don't you know who Wang Fengqin is?"
