At this moment, the place where Jiang Yimian and Lu Cijian were standing in the collapsed cave in the Dragon Mountain Range has been covered by huge rocks.
Not far away, Zhang, the leader, and his dozen or so guards had already been smashed to pieces, their flesh mangled and bloodied. The stones were covered in blood, which gradually stained the ground red, making it look particularly horrifying.
Jiang Yimian lay on the ground looking at the cave outside the space, which was covered with broken stones. She felt relieved and breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
Fortunately, the moment Lu Cijian tackled her to the ground, she managed to hide in the space with him.
Otherwise, they would have been smashed into mincemeat like Zhang and his gang.
The sounds of the explosion and the rumble of falling rocks still seemed to echo in her ears. Jiang Yimian calmed herself down before looking at the person who was tightly protecting her.
She gently nudged the person on top of her. "Lu Cijian, wake up, we're alright now."
She finished speaking, but no one answered her.
She panicked for a moment and felt a little scared. She reached out and gently pushed the person on top of her.
Lu Cijian remained motionless, holding her tightly in his arms.
Jiang Yimian only felt a wet hand. She raised her hand and looked at it. Bright red blood was dripping from her fingertips, which made her body tremble instantly.
He immediately disregarded the person who was holding her tightly and forcefully pulled the person on top of him to the side.
Whether it was because she used too much force or because Lu Cijian's willpower was too strong, he still opened his eyelids and glanced at her while lying on the ground, as if to check if she was alright.
Seeing that she was alright, Lu Cijian breathed a sigh of relief.
He squinted at the person in front of him for a long time, but still couldn't see clearly. His eyelids felt heavy. He opened his mouth, wanting to speak.
As soon as he spoke, a sharp pain in his throat made him frown, and his hoarse voice weakly rang out, "Mian, Mian, you're alright, that's good."
For a brief moment, he thought they were going to die. At that moment, he only had one thought in his mind: to protect Jiang Yimian.
Fortunately, he did it.
Seeing that the person in front of him was alright, he felt pain all over his body, and his eyelids drooped shut.
Jiang Yimian was startled and quickly checked his pulse. Seeing that he was still alive, she breathed a sigh of relief, but also felt a little sad.
With red-rimmed eyes, she looked at the person on the ground and said, "What are you doing? I'll protect myself."
The situation was urgent. Just as she was about to bring Lu Cijian into the space with her when the explosives detonated, he pounced on her and held her tightly in his arms.
It was a protection she had never felt before. She had always faced such dangers alone before and had long been used to it. But the moment Lu Cijian rushed over and shielded her in his arms, she thought he was really silly.
What if she dies like this? What if she doesn't care at all?
Although the two were quickly brought into the space, the debris from the explosion inside the cave, as well as all the hidden weapons, landed on Lu Cijian without missing a single one.
Half of his body was almost entirely blood red, covered in a dense barrage of various hidden weapons, along with some broken stones, making it look particularly terrifying.
Jiang Yimian felt distressed just looking at him. While carefully removing the rubble from his body, she choked up and said, "Are you stupid? Didn't you know I could hide a lot of things? Why did you still lunge at me?"
She didn't avoid Lu Cijian when dealing with the wild boar. Although he didn't see her put the items into her spatial storage, he probably knew the secret she was hiding.
Why was I so stupid to come and save her?
Lu Cijian smiled, forced her eyes open, and it took her a while to barely make out the person in front of her.
The little girl's hair was disheveled, and her fair face was covered in soot, but her eyes were exceptionally bright. Especially those few tears, which seemed to fall on his heart, making his heart beat faster.
I felt both happy and heartbroken.
But he deliberately smiled and said, "Seeing Mianmian cry because of me, even dying would be worth it."
The voice was still weak and feeble, but the emotion in the other person's words was clearly discernible.
Jiang Yimian was so angry that she covered his mouth and said irritably, "Stop saying such unlucky things. Don't talk. Let me treat your wound first."
The collapsed area outside is too large; we don't know when Song Er and the others will be able to find us.
Lu Cijian stared intently at Jiang Yimian and nodded, his eyes unblinking, as if afraid of missing any change in her expression.
I felt happier than ever before; the little flower that had withered seemed to have come back to life.
He suddenly felt an urgent need to know if Mianmian had feelings for him.
These past few days, because of his trip to the mine, he had suppressed all his emotions, with many things he wanted to say piling up haphazardly in his mind.
Now that they know Jiang Dazhuang has been taken out of the mine and is out of danger, and that it's just the two of them, those jumbled thoughts resurface.
Jiang Yimian was focused on treating the other man's wounds, tearing open the clothes on his arm to clean away the rubble. When she looked at the hidden weapon that was deeply embedded in his body, she only frowned.
Some of the hidden weapons were specially made. Originally, they were thin, needle-like objects that would burst open with several barbs once they were inserted into the skin, becoming hooked inside and very difficult to remove.
Fortunately, there were only three of these; the others were ordinary concealed weapons. As long as they were removed and the wounds were stitched up to stop the bleeding, there wouldn't be any major problems.
After hesitating for a moment, he said, "I'll give you an anesthetic injection first, and then I'll treat the wound."
As she spoke, a thought flashed through her mind, and the anesthetic from her spatial storage appeared in her hand.
Just as he was about to administer anesthesia to the person on the ground, Lu Cijian suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist, saying nervously, "Mian, Mianmian, I, I have something I want to ask you."
Jiang Yimian looked at the large, well-defined hand on her wrist and asked in confusion, "What do you want to ask?"
Lu Cijian opened his lips, seemingly unsure how to speak, and after a long while suddenly asked, "That night when I was drunk, did I really not do anything excessive?"
What he actually wanted to ask wasn't that; he wanted to know if Mianmian truly cared for him.
But fearing to hear an answer I didn't want to hear, the words that came out of my mouth suddenly became this: I've asked several times already, and I know the answer.
He suddenly felt a little annoyed, wondering what he was afraid of.
It seems that when he faces Jiang Yimian, he becomes more hesitant and doesn't want to say anything hastily.
He was afraid that if he asked for an answer he didn't want to hear, Mianmian would hate him, distance herself from him, and stop wanting to talk to him.
Just as she was feeling annoyed, she heard Jiang Yimian say casually, "It wasn't anything excessive, she just kissed me."
The voice was calm and even, as if it were talking about something ordinary.
The words he uttered made Lu Cijian disregard his injuries and forcefully sit up, staring wide-eyed at Jiang Yimian, unable to believe what he had just heard.
He really took liberties with Mianmian.
