Chapter 297 Brother and Sister Reunion

When Wang Shuihua heard the voice, she was startled, thinking she was hallucinating. It had been so long since anyone had called her Shuihua.

After looking around for a while, his gaze finally landed on Wang Jinbao.

The man was excessively thin, with dark skin, deeply sunken cheeks, and bulging eyes, making him look somewhat frightening.

She couldn't recognize him at first, staring fixedly at the person standing in front of the courtyard gate, unsure whether it was an illusion or real.

Until Wang Jinbao's choked voice rang out again, "Shuihua, don't you recognize your brother?"

Wang Shuihua's eyes widened instantly as she stared intently at the other person, as if afraid that if she blinked, the person in front of her would disappear.

When she arrived at the village, everyone called her Aunt Wang. She didn't want to be that damned Aunt Wang at all. If it weren't for not wanting to see her parents and all the villagers die, she would never have given herself to that old bastard Zhu Shichang.

For the past three years, not a single day has passed that she hasn't thought about dying. If it weren't for the fear that Zhu Shichang would go back on his word, she would have committed suicide long ago.

Her beloved brother went to work in the mines, where there was basically no chance of survival.

She could not see her parents or her young nephew. Only occasionally could she write some words on leaves and let them float from the lotus pond in the village to the stream in the back village.

She had no idea whether her parents had seen what she had written.

When she heard this morning that there was chaos in the village and that the mine had collapsed, she felt both happy and worried.

The good news is that the mine is gone, the Zhu family has fallen, and no one will be kidnapped like them to be concubines or tools for others' pleasure, trapped on the village for life, living a life worse than death.

No one will be forced to go up the mountain to mine anymore, leaving no trace of their remains.

What worries me is that she might have to be buried with the Zhu family. Mining without permission is a serious crime, and as a concubine of the Zhu family, no matter what happens, she can only follow Zhu Shichang.

Now that her brother's fate is unknown and her parents are getting old, she doesn't know how her three-year-old nephew will survive.

Seeing the three people in front of her, she was still a little dazed, staring at Wang Jinbao in disbelief, feeling that God had blessed her so that she could see her brother before she died.

Looking at his younger sister, who now seemed as if a gust of wind could blow her over, Wang Jinbao's tears welled up instantly. He forced a smile and said, "Shuihua, your brother is back."

Upon hearing these words, Wang Shuihua's tears welled up instantly. Her eyes widened as she tentatively asked, "Brother, are you really my brother? You're back?"

Yesterday, she vaguely heard several loud explosions coming from the mountain. Since she had heard them before, she didn't pay much attention to them, only sighing that the mine might have collapsed again and she wondered how many people would die.

Unexpectedly, the people who broke into the manor brought all the miners down with them, and she heard that they were being treated in the front hall. She felt only relief.

She hoped her brother was still alive, but at the same time, she felt it was impossible.

After all, she knew better than anyone how dangerous the mine was. Every time she refused Zhu Shichang, he would say that a new batch of people had recently come to the mine, and that all the previous people who went up the mountain had died.

If she disobeys, she will throw her parents into the mine so that she can reunite with her brother.

Every time she heard this, she wanted to kill the other person on the spot, but unfortunately, the natural physical difference between men and women made it impossible for her to kill.

Moreover, she knew that even if she killed Zhu Shichang, it would be useless. Even if Zhu Shichang was gone, there would be Chen Shichang, Wang Shichang, and many other people who could replace him.

She wanted all the officials who preyed on the people to die.

So he sent a message to his parents, telling them about what was happening at the mine.

She thought that one day someone would discover the darkness in Pingjiang County and come to their rescue, but later she realized that she was naive.

Pingjiang County was an independent county, not belonging to any prefecture. In addition, Zhu Shichang initially created the facade of a benevolent official who cared for the people, which greatly deceived everyone, especially the court officials. This gave Zhu Shichang great convenience.

If he hadn't exposed himself, no one else would have ever discovered the filth in Pingjiang County.

She gradually gave up and was trapped in the manor, silently waiting to die.

But now, seeing her brother, she suddenly felt grateful that she was still alive, at least she could see her brother again.

She rushed forward excitedly and hugged Wang Jinbao. The tears she had been holding back instantly streamed down her face. She mumbled incoherently, "Brother, you're finally back. Do you know how I've been these past few years?"

"The more I worry about you, the more I hate Zhu Shichang. That bastard is not a human being, he's a beast, no, he's even worse than a beast."

Wang Jinbao could only cry as he comforted the person in his arms, "I know, I know everything. It's my fault for not protecting you properly and for making you suffer so much."

"No, it's not my brother's fault. It's all Zhu Shichang's fault. He destroyed our village and so many families. All those lives should be attributed to him."

He deserves a terrible death.

The two cried for a while before Wang Shuihua wiped away her tears and asked with worried eyes, "Brother, how are Father, Mother, and Dabao? Are they alright?"

Although she knew they were alive, she didn't know how they had survived the past three years.

I heard that Zhu Shichang's men wouldn't let them into the city at all, leaving them to fend for themselves in the village.

So many years have passed, and she really doesn't know how her parents are doing.

Wang Jinbao just smiled and said, "Father, Mother and Da Bao are all well, Shui Hua, don't worry. If there's a chance, I'll have them come to see you."

Wang Shuihua simply smiled and nodded, "Okay."

Although she knew in her heart that it was impossible, she still didn't want to spoil her brother's fun.
