Chapter 49 Bee Removal

Liu Dayong hesitated for a while before tentatively speaking, "How about we don't take this route on weekdays, but go out through the cave? This beehive is too big and difficult to deal with. We can burn it in the winter."

When winter comes, the hive will be empty, and it will be safer for them to deal with it then.

Old Liu nodded repeatedly. At first, he had thought about getting rid of the bees, but when he saw such a large beehive, he backed down and decided it was better to take a detour.

If he, with his old bones, were stung by so many wasps, he certainly wouldn't survive.

Jiang Yimian nodded and said, "Okay, then don't come here recently."

After saying that, he left directly.

She'll come alone in the evening to deal with the beehive, and if she's lucky, she might even get some honey to take home.

Old Liu assumed the other party had agreed to their plan, so he breathed a sigh of relief and followed them.

Yi Mian is also a child, so she must be scared when she sees this big wasp.

Liu Dayong felt that Jiang Yimian's words were strange, but he didn't think much of it and left as well.

The sun quickly set, and the previously scorching air finally cooled down a bit.

After finishing her meal, Jiang Yimian took a stick with its top wrapped in rag and headed towards the lotus pond.

Old Liu and Liu Dayong were enjoying the cool air in the yard when they saw Jiang Yimian leaving with a stick in the distance, assuming she was going to the vegetable garden.

Unexpectedly, they saw the other person walking further and further astray. Suddenly realizing something, the two of them quickly stood up from their stools.

"Oh no! Yi Mian is going to burn the beehive! Let's go stop her!"

Old Liu put on his shoes and hurriedly chased after him.

Liu Dayong was still chopping wood when he heard this, so he grabbed his axe and chased after him, which terrified Zhao Xing'er.

"Hey, where are you going? Put down the axe! Don't hurt anyone!"

The two had no time to listen to her instructions and ran very fast, disappearing from the woods in no time.

When the two arrived at the lotus pond, Jiang Yimian had just taken the protective suit out of her spatial storage when she saw the two of them coming, panting heavily.

She was also a little surprised, "Grandpa Liu, Uncle Dayong, what brings you here?"

She really didn't expect these two to come, and to run away so fast. She should have avoided them.

Old Liu was out of breath from running. He leaned against a nearby tree to catch his breath before saying, "Yi, Yi Mian, didn't we agree not to kill the bees? Why did you come here alone? It's dangerous. Come back with your grandfather."

The path to the lotus pond isn't absolutely necessary; they can simply walk a few more steps. Why should a young girl be put on such a risk?

Liu Dayong was also sweating profusely with anxiety. "Yimian, you scared us to death! These giant hornets are not so easy to deal with. Let's go back quickly and come back to burn the hive in a few days."

As he spoke, he tried to pull Jiang Yimian away.

Jiang Yimian took out the protective suit in her hand and said, "Don't worry, I won't get stung because I have this protective suit. The road to the rice paddies is hard to find, so it's easier to go out from here."

She had tried to find it last time, but she couldn't, and it was too far away, taking several hours to get there.

Not only would going back and forth waste a lot of time, but it would also easily lead to heatstroke in the hot weather. It's better to walk closer from the lotus pond.

Old Liu looked suspiciously at the clothes in the other person's hand. They didn't look like fabric, and he didn't know what they were made of; they were slippery.

Will these clothes keep out the bees?

He really couldn't believe that wasps had stingers on their tails and that they might just prick through his clothes.

Jiang Yimian nodded, "It can keep out bees."

This protective suit was developed in the organization's laboratory and is made of special materials. It can even stop bullets, let alone a few wasps.

She only remembered that she had this thing in her space when she saw the wasps. She had stuffed a lot of things from the laboratory into her space before, but she had forgotten exactly what they were.

Liu Dayong also looked incredulous, but after glancing at the height of the beehive, he said, "Then how are you going to get up there? The tree is so tall, you can't even reach it by raft."

If they could, they wouldn't have waited until winter.

Jiang Yimian pointed to a few branches extending horizontally next to the crooked tree and said casually, "I can reach the crooked tree by stepping on those branches. I'll just have to be careful when I climb up."

Actually, there's no need for all that trouble. With her skills, she could easily climb that crooked tree by stepping on a lotus leaf for leverage.

She said that only to avoid worrying the two of them and to get their consent to her removing the bees.

Liu Dayong looked at the branches; they weren't thin, and the distance between them was enough to climb the crooked tree.

After thinking for a while, just as he was about to speak, he heard Old Man Liu snort coldly and say, "Fine, Yi Mian is right. I'll climb up in those clothes and burn the beehive in a bit."

Although there was a high chance he would die from a wasp sting, he accepted it, feeling that at his age he should do something for the younger generation in his family.

He'd rather die than let the beehive be destroyed.

Thinking about it, his gaze towards the beehive changed, and he looked like he was ready to die. He picked up the stick wrapped in cloth, opened his arms and said, "Yimian, help me put those clothes on."

Liu Dayong: ...

Jiang Yimian: ...

Did he misunderstand something? It's just burning a beehive, why does he have to make such a heroic face as if he's going to his death?

Also, that's just a broken fire poker, not a magic staff.

Seeing his father looking like he was about to burn the beehive, Liu Dayong just touched his nose and said, "Dad, you're old and frail, don't bother. I'll go. Yimian, give me the clothes."

After saying that, he opened his arms, gesturing for Jiang Yimian to put the clothes on him.

Jiang Yimian: ...

They truly are father and son.

However, before he could even finish the pose, Old Liu slapped the other man on the head and said irritably, "What do you mean by old arms and legs? Your father is as strong as a mule. I'm going to burn the beehive. You get out of here."

"I'll go."

"No, I'll go."

"No, I want to go."

Jiang Yimian watched as the two almost came to blows over burning the beehive, shook her head helplessly, silently put on her clothes, and said indifferently, "I'll go."

As the two old men were arguing, upon hearing someone trying to take it, they immediately said in unison, "No way."

As soon as she finished speaking, Jiang Yimian stepped on the lotus leaves and leaped up the crooked tree that was two meters above the pond.

Old Liu: ...

Liu Dayong: ...

How did she get up there?

Seeing the two looking over, Jiang Yimian simply reminded them, "You two should stay away, the wasps will come out of their nest soon."

Liu Dayong quickly responded, pulled the still-stunned old man Liu aside, and moved a little further away.

Old Liu was furious when he saw this and yelled, "Are you even a man? You're so afraid of a tiny wasp!"

It's ridiculous for two grown men to hide away and leave a little girl to burn the beehive.

Liu Dayong pretended not to hear and pointed at the torch in Jiang Yimian's hand in surprise, saying, "Hey, how come that cloth is so easy to light? It catches such a big fire with just one touch."
