Chapter 60 The Amazing Young Boy

Jiang Yimian paused, didn't answer, but waved her hand and said, "Can you tell me about the situation outside? I know the way down the mountain and can take you down."

Upon hearing this, the two became visibly excited, nodding repeatedly and abandoning their pancakes, stuffing them back into their pockets.

Jiang Yimian asked some questions about the war, but neither of them knew much about it. They only said that they had heard from the soldiers guarding the city that the imperial court had driven the rebels to the border of the Great Jin Dynasty, and they knew nothing else.

Jiang Yimian then asked about the bandits at the foot of the mountain.

The two women exchanged a glance before the young woman said, "We only know that a few roads leading through the mountain stronghold have been blocked by rubble. We don't know anything else. After all, they are bandits, and we dare not provoke them. We heard that some refugees who insisted on passing through the stronghold were killed on the spot."

Although they didn't see it with their own eyes, they had heard that those mountain bandits were all vicious and ruthless killers, so they never considered going through the mountain stronghold and went straight into the mountains.

Fearing being targeted by refugees, they steeled themselves and went straight into the deep mountains.

Jiang Yimian nodded, knowing that the two were honest farmers who had managed to run back safely, which was due to good luck and their carefulness. She didn't ask any more questions and simply said, "I'll take you down the mountain."

Having lived on this mountain for more than half a year, she naturally knew many ways down the mountain.

The various paths were winding and rugged, and could easily make a person dizzy in less than fifteen minutes, but there was no worry that the two of them would remember the way.

Jiang Yimian led the two through the woods for almost two hours before stopping. Pointing to the winding path in front of them, she said, "Follow this path, and you'll be down the mountain in less than half an hour."

Upon hearing this, the two immediately thanked him and, despite being exhausted and covered in sweat, ran straight down the mountain.

Jiang Yimian ignored the two people and went up the mountain again via another path. She walked to the woods where Mimi had disappeared and was about to search for her when she heard a familiar voice.

Jiang Yimian breathed a sigh of relief. She thought it would take some effort to find the little guy, but she didn't expect that the little tiger would know to call her.

Following the sound, I walked over and saw Mimi nestled at a man's feet in the distance.

To be precise, it should be a boy, about seventeen or eighteen years old, tall and slender, wearing a black coarse linen outfit, but he seemed rather thin.

Because the person had their back to her, she couldn't see their face and was about to call Mimi back.

The boy raised his bow and arrow and shot it into the air. With two "thuds," he clearly hit something.

Mimi immediately became excited and ran towards where the arrow had fallen. In no time, she retrieved the arrow, which had two sparrows on it.

Jiang Yimian raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised that the person in front of her had such good aim and could kill two birds with one stone.

She hadn't seen any sparrows, only heard them chirping, so this person was clearly good at locating things by sound.

The boy reached into Mimi's mouth and took the arrow out, then tossed two sparrows to Mimi.

Mimi immediately became excited, leaped up, and started chewing on the two sparrows.

The boy's hands had distinct knuckles, long fingers, and slightly reddish fingertips, which looked rather alluring.

Jiang Yimian was engrossed in watching when the man turned to look at her, his eyes filled with coldness.

The boy was extremely handsome, with sword-like eyebrows and bright eyes, and a dashing face. In particular, the red beauty mark under his eye seemed to gleam with an eerie light, making him exceptionally good-looking.

The other person's hair was tied up high, with only a few strands remaining at the front. Although he was dressed in simple coarse linen clothes, it could not conceal his demeanor, making him look quite different from the refugees fleeing the war.

Jiang Yimian met those cold eyes, quickly looked away, and said calmly to the little tiger, "Mimi, let's go."

This person is good-looking, but a bit cold.

Mimi glanced at the boy, then looked at Jiang Yimian, and hesitated for a moment.

Lu Cijian reached out and rubbed Mimi's head, gesturing for it to come over.

Mimi rubbed against his feet and quickly ran to Jiang Yimian's side.

Jiang Yimian was somewhat surprised. Recalling the first time she met Mimi, the little tiger wasn't afraid of people at all. She immediately understood and asked curiously, "Were you this little tiger's previous owner?"

Lu Cijian nodded and was about to leave when he paused and reminded her, "There are many refugees outside the mountains recently. Don't let it escape."

After saying that, he left directly.

Jiang Yimian paused, watching the other person's figure disappear into the woods, before leaving with Mimi.

Judging from the man's tone, he must have already noticed that many refugees had come up the mountain.

As for her, the man wasn't surprised to see her. Considering the popularity he felt when he saved Mimi last time, he figured that the man from last time was this boy.

I wonder how long this person has lived on the mountain, and whether he knows about the small depression.

If she had known, she wouldn't have felt at all that she was being followed.

Jiang Yimian frowned, then thought it was unlikely.

Although I haven't done much fighting since I arrived here, I'm still vigilant. It's impossible for me to be followed without knowing it.

However, since the boy didn't attack her and even warned her, he probably didn't mean any harm.

Filled with questions, Jiang Yimian absentmindedly returned to the small depression with Mimi.

As soon as she entered the courtyard, she could smell the aroma of food, which made Jiang Yimian's stomach growl in dissatisfaction, as if reminding her that she was starving.

When Wang Fengqin saw her return, she breathed a sigh of relief and said helplessly, "Where did you go so early in the morning? You didn't even have breakfast. It's already past noon. If you hadn't come back soon, I would have thought something had happened to you."

Jiang Yimian smiled and didn't say anything. Seeing the two little ones happily greeting her, she put down her basket, washed her hands, and hurried off to eat.
