Chapter 618 The Strange Dungeon

By the time Jiang Yimian changed her clothes and left Yuxian Tower with Lu Cijian, there were hardly any people left on the streets outside, except for patrol teams.

Aside from some drunkards who had just come from brothels and taverns, they were also swaying and talking in groups in the middle of the street.

The pitch-black night exuded a sense of silence, quite different from the nights of the Great Jin Dynasty.

Fortunately, Likun Mansion was not far from Yuxian Tower, and Jiang Yimian and Lu Cijian arrived at the outside of Likun Mansion very quickly.

The mansion was now brightly lit, with many guards carrying torches searching the courtyards, clearly looking for something.

Jiang Yimian and Lu Cijian exchanged a glance. "It must be that Ningxiang and the others were discovered while rescuing people."

Lu Cijian nodded, but frowned and said, "However, these people don't seem to know much about the secret chamber."

Jiang Yimian looked at the guards inside the mansion. Although several teams had been dispatched, each team was searching the courtyards in a chaotic manner.

They didn't seem to know about the secret room; instead, they were running around the mansion like headless flies.

Seeing this, she simply said, "In that case, let's go in now. After all, Li Kunge is already in our hands, and these people can't cause any more trouble."

Aguzan has surely already figured out how to deal with these people, so they don't need to worry about it.

Without further hesitation, the two climbed over the high wall and entered Likunge's residence.

The two evaded the guards who were searching them and went directly to the old ancestral hall that Xue Lingyu had told them about.

Sure enough, the area around the ancestral hall was pitch black, and there was no sign of anyone coming.

The surrounding area is very desolate; it has indeed been abandoned for a long time.

The two entered the ancestral hall and found a hidden door under a pile of tables and chairs in the far corner.

Lu Cijian opened the hidden door and entered the secret passage with Jiang Yimian.

Not long after they entered the secret passage, a furtive figure appeared inside the shrine.

Without the slightest hesitation, the man walked straight to the corner, opened the hidden door, and carefully went inside.

Jiang Yimian held a flashlight and slowly walked towards the secret room.

Aside from finding a lot of bloodstains and signs of a struggle on the ground, they found nothing else along the way.

She only felt that the passage was unusually long.

After walking for a while, the two finally saw a different scene at the corner.

The long corridor was lined with thick wooden fences on both sides, forming dungeon-like cubicles.

It was pitch black inside, and apart from the occasional squeaking of mice, there was no other sound.

Jiang Yimian subconsciously shone her flashlight on the scene before her, only to be startled by what she saw.

Each cubicle was teeming with rats, which were crawling rapidly across the floor.

When the flashlight shone on them, the rats ran even faster. The dense swarm moved quickly, all scrambling into the small hole in the wall, one after another, creating an extremely eerie scene.

Jiang Yimian frowned and was about to approach the cell when she accidentally stepped on something with a thud.

Instantly, several arrows shot out from the surrounding walls, heading straight for the two.

Lu Cijian quickly reached out and pulled Jiang Yimian into his arms, then retreated straight back around the corner.

The spot where the two had been standing was instantly filled with arrows.

Fortunately, it's unclear whether Xiao Wu and the others had already used up most of the arrows before, or if there was a problem with the mechanism.

After the initial arrows landed, no more arrows appeared in the holes in the wall.

Jiang Yimian breathed a sigh of relief and looked again at the densely packed rats in the cell, wondering, "How come there are so many rats in this dungeon?"

Lu Cijian also frowned, clearly not understanding it either.

Logically, it's normal for damp, dark places to attract rats, but the sheer number of rats gathered together like this is rather eerie.

Lu Cijian simply took the flashlight from Jiang Yimian's hand and said, "Let me see."

As he spoke, he looked into the dungeon.

In an instant, the dense swarm of mice sprang into action again, sending chills down the spines of onlookers.

The rats seemed to be attracted by something, and they all rushed towards one place.

Lu Cijian looked closely and suddenly realized that the rats weren't trying to squeeze into the cracks in the wall at all, but were instead trying to burrow underground.

Looking into the other cells, sure enough, the rats were burrowing into the ground, as if something was attracting them.

Jiang Yimian had obviously noticed it too, and asked curiously, "So many rats are burrowing down there, could there be a secret room down there?"

Without a sealed room, it would be impossible to house such a large number of rats.

Lu Cijian glanced at the ground beneath her feet, then carefully stomped her foot. The sound was solid, and there was nothing unusual about it.

Just as he was about to probe to the side, he suddenly heard a woman's voice.

"Oh, who do we have here? It's just you two fearless bastards."

Jiang Yimian and Lu Cijian turned around at the same time and saw Xue Lingyu carrying a lantern, walking over from not far away.

However, the expression on his face was extremely stiff, as if he were angry, yet also seemed to be mixed with a hint of excitement.

Jiang Yimian glanced at her indifferently and said casually, "It's been a long time. Madam Xue certainly has some good fortune."

Upon hearing this, Xue Lingyu immediately became somewhat smug and looked at the two of them with disdain, "I am naturally blessed by God, but you two are not so lucky."

If I go out and warn you now, you two are bound to die here.

"How dare they trespass into Likun's residence, especially two treacherous people from the Great Jin Dynasty! It seems I'll be getting two new human-skin lanterns."

Heaven knows how excited she is right now. She actually managed to see her two enemies in Likun Mansion. It's like the heavens are helping her get revenge.

She will not let either of these two people who almost killed her get away with it.

She was determined to turn them into human-skin lanterns, and as for the rest of their flesh and bones, she would chop them into mincemeat and throw them to the dogs to appease her hatred.

Jiang Yimian merely raised an eyebrow without saying a word.

The person in front of them probably doesn't know that Likunge has been captured. They probably think they're at a disadvantage and will be threatened by her.

I don't know whether to say this person is too naive or too audacious.

Instead of running away when they saw the two of them, they dared to threaten them.

It seems that a lot has happened in the past few months, causing a drastic change in the other person's temperament.

Lu Cijian didn't even glance at Xue Lingyu; instead, he was pondering whether there were any secret rooms underground.

Seeing that neither of them cared about her at all, Xue Lingyu was furious and sneered, "Don't think that just because you two know martial arts you're not afraid of anything. Let me tell you, this is my territory."

As soon as she finished speaking, she took a few steps back and pressed hard against the protrusion on the wall.

Immediately, arrows and hidden weapons rained down on Jiang Yimian and her companion from all directions, even more densely than before.
