Chapter 631 This guy seems a bit reckless.

The three stood at the palace gate, their belongings searched by guards, while they anxiously waited for the guard who had just left to deliver a message.

Unexpectedly, the guard returned very soon.

The bearded guard looked only at the man. "What did Lord Tuso say?"

The guard replied, "The guards at Wutong Palace say that Lord Tuso is not currently in the palace."

The bearded guard frowned, his gaze falling on Jiang Yimian and Aguzan. His intuition told him that there was something wrong with the two.

But he has no evidence, and Lord Tuso is not here now, so it is unlikely that he can forcibly detain these two people.

Seeing that he remained silent, Monte simply snorted, "It seems that in the eyes of the Tara guards, I, the witch doctor appointed by the Khan, do not have as much say as Lord Tuso."

Lord Tuso now oversees important court affairs by the side of the eldest prince, but it turns out he's even getting a firm grip on matters like treating the Khan.

"In that case, I'll head back today. Lord Tuso isn't here anyway, and more important to the Tara guards than the Khan's health is Lord Tuso's permission."

With that, he turned and left with his men.

The bearded guard, Tara, immediately lowered his head and said respectfully, "It was my rudeness, and I hope the witch doctor will forgive me."

More important than questioning the identities of the two apprentice doctors is the people inside the palace.

The Khan's condition has been poor these past few nights, and if the shaman is not on duty, things could really go wrong.

It might even affect the eldest prince's standing among the people.

At this critical juncture, the Khan's death can only be attributed to the worsening of his condition and the shaman's efforts to save him, which ultimately proved futile. It is not because of him that there is not even a shaman on duty in the vast palace.

Thinking it over, he quickly ordered the guards beside him to open the palace gates.

Monte glanced at him but said nothing more, leading the two men behind him inside.

Seeing that the palace gates were closed, Tara did not relax her vigilance at all. She glanced at the guards beside her, and they immediately dispersed to carefully check all around the palace, keeping a close eye on the situation inside.

Inside the palace, separated by only one door.

Monte glanced at the maids guarding the Khan's bedside and said indifferently, "Go out, I'll take care of things here."

The maids responded and left.

Seeing the palace gates closed again, Monte finally breathed a sigh of relief, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and looked at the two people in front of him, saying, "We only have half an hour. If we haven't left by then, the guards around us will definitely become suspicious."

There were also hidden guards not far outside the palace, who could hide in the shadows and keep watch at any time.

If the Khan hadn't disliked having his bodyguards around all the time, we probably wouldn't have had this opportunity.

As for Tuso, I remember he's busy with the prayer ceremony and won't be in the palace for the time being.

"At least tonight, there's no need to worry about that guy coming, Your Highness, please rest assured."

As an old witch doctor who had followed the Khan for decades, he was quite familiar with the people and things around the Khan.

Otherwise, the task of guarding the shaman would not have fallen to him when the Khan fell seriously ill.

They would not give him the opportunity to help the second prince.

Upon hearing this, Aguzan finally breathed a long sigh of relief.

He was more wary of Tuso than of Aliji.

This person is cunning and shrewd. If they are targeted by him, they are very likely to be exposed tonight, and it will be difficult for them to leave the palace quietly.

He looked at the person on the bed, and then paused for a moment.

The person lying on the bed had his eyes closed, and his face was lined with wrinkles. His usually energetic face was even unusually pale, quite different from the stern and unsmiling person he remembered.

After a while, he looked away and said to Jiang Yimian, "Let's begin."

Jiang Yimian nodded, and without further delay, stepped forward and reached out to take the pulse of the person on the bed whose eyes were closed and whose face showed signs of aging.

Monte then spoke up from the side: "The Khan has always been in good health. Although he is not as healthy as before due to his age, he is not so sick as to be unable to get out of bed."

At first, the shamans and I thought the Khan would wake up soon, but to our surprise, his condition worsened day by day until he was bedridden and unconscious.

Even when I wake up, I'm still in a daze and not very clear-headed.

That's when I realized that the Khan was probably not simply sick, but poisoned.

As I suspected, the Khan was indeed poisoned, but I wasn't sure what kind of poison it was; I only felt it was similar to some poisons from the Great Jin Dynasty.

He didn't know much about the Great Jin Dynasty, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to investigate secretly for so long without any results.

I wonder if the person the prince brought can figure anything out. He looks very young, and judging from his voice, he should be a woman.

Judging from the prince's attitude, he seemed to trust this person very much, but he didn't know who the person was.

Monte looked Jiang Yimian up and down as he pondered.

Jiang Yimian silently took the pulse of the person on the bed, but her brows furrowed involuntarily.

This person's physical condition is really not good, and he doesn't look like he's been poisoned.

Seeing her frown, Aguzan simply asked, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"

Jiang Yimian didn't say anything, but reached out and pulled open the clothes of the person on the bed, looked at him carefully, and then took out silver needles from the medicine box and inserted them into several acupoints on the Khan's neck and chest.

Upon seeing this, Monte was only momentarily shocked. Seeing the other party's decisive actions, he hesitated for a moment before swallowing back the words that were on the tip of his tongue.

These acupoints are not simple places; if you're not careful, you might just kill the Khan.

This guy seems a bit reckless.

He hesitated whether to speak up and remind the other party, but seeing that the other party's face was calm and that Aguzan next to him did not seem to suspect anything, he had no choice but to shut up.

But then he noticed the change in the Khan's body and exclaimed in surprise, "What, what's going on?"

Suddenly, a large bulge appeared on the Khan's previously smooth neck.

The protrusion, tinged with black, moved rapidly downwards towards the neck, intending to reach the chest, but was abruptly stopped by the silver needle.

The Khan's originally normal skin color gradually turned black, and the blackness slowly spread from his limbs toward his chest, finally stopping at his chest and neck.

Aguzan and Monte stared wide-eyed at the still-wriggling black protrusion, and asked at the same time, "What is this thing?"

Jiang Yimian simply said, "Gu worm."
