"I know which category Xiliang City falls into."
Upon hearing this, everyone in the room turned to look at Jiang Yimian.
Jiang Yimian pointed to the ground with a wary look in her eyes.
Lu Cijian's expression hardened, and he quickly realized something, about to speak.
Lin Yan'an hid behind Liu'er with a look of terror on his face and said tremblingly, "Those people, they can't really be corpses that crawled up from underground, can they? Sister Jiang, don't scare me."
He had this thought for a long time, but he had suppressed it. Now, seeing Jiang Yimian pointing to the ground, that chilling feeling suddenly returned to his body.
Meeting those terrified eyes, Jiang Yimian found it amusing, but still nodded earnestly.
Sure enough, the next second Lin Yan'an trembled violently, and he lowered his head and said to the ground, "Heavenly spirits, earthly spirits, demons and monsters, do not show your power."
Dear brothers and sisters underground, I... I'm a really good person! No, please don't bother me!
As Lin Yan'an spoke, he stomped his foot hard on the ground, as if trying to stomp back any terrifying things that might pop up.
Jiang Yimian found it amusing.
Liu'er quietly distanced herself from those around her, wanting only to pretend she didn't know them.
Lu Cijian said calmly, "If you exert any more force, the people underground might actually sense your presence."
Lin Yan'an was so frightened by these words that his eyes widened, and he froze on the spot, unable to move. "People underground? You call things underground people?"
Seeing that Lin Yan'an was about to lose his temper if she continued to scare him, Jiang Yimian said seriously, "I guess that guy Alite has laid all the transportation routes underground."
Otherwise, where would the supplies needed in the city be transported into Xiliang City from?
Those things could never appear out of thin air.
Lu Cijian nodded and said, "That's very likely."
If there are indeed many intricate underground tunnels, it would be very difficult for Tuyuhun to take over Xiliang in one fell swoop.
They might eventually be surrounded by Xiliang in Wengcheng and wiped out completely.
Jiang Yimian pondered for a long time before looking at Liu'er and Lin Yan'an, "Where did you encounter the pale-faced Xiliang people just now?"
Liu'er thought for a moment before saying, "I was on the long corridor outside the courtyard."
Lin Yan'an only then realized what Jiang Yimian and the other person were talking about. He paused for a moment before saying, "I saw a few on the corridor, and just now I saw them behind the rockery outside the courtyard."
The person glanced at me and quickly left. I hadn't even...
Before she could finish speaking, Jiang Yimian said, "Keep our going out a secret," and then she and Lu Cijian darted out of the side window.
Jiang Yimian and Lu Cijian had just escaped the eyes and ears of the Alit agents in the courtyard when, sure enough, they saw a pale-faced person wearing a black cloak hiding behind the artificial hill. He glanced at them and then quickly ran into the night.
Jiang Yimian and Lu Cijian exchanged a glance and quickly followed.
The person in the black cloak ran extremely fast, skillfully dodging the patrolling guards several times in the darkness, bypassing several long corridors, and heading straight for the bridge arch by the lotus pond not far away.
Jiang Yimian and the other person quickly followed, and were about to grab the person in the black cloak when the person rolled over, disappeared into the bridge arch, and vanished completely.
Jiang Yimian raised an eyebrow and exchanged a glance with Lu Cijian, but did not make a move for the time being.
The appearance of the person in the black cloak was too strange. She didn't know what the person wanted to do, so she didn't dare to enter the bridge archway rashly.
However, the patrol team was already approaching the arch bridge. Lu Cijian glanced at them, and without further hesitation, he pulled Jiang Yimian and slid down into the hidden passage inside the arch bridge.
As the two entered the passageway inside the bridge, the patrol team, carrying lanterns, also approached.
The lead guard, carrying a lantern, subconsciously shone it into the archway. Seeing nothing amiss, he led the patrol team behind him directly across the arched bridge.
Jiang Yimian and the other person carefully made their way into the passage with tinderboxes in hand.
After sliding down that slope, the passage behind immediately became much wider.
In the dim firelight, one could barely make out the surrounding walls.
Jiang Yimian subconsciously reached out and grasped Lu Cijian's hand, pointing the light towards the wall.
But then she heard a soft laugh from the person beside her, "My wife is scared. Your husband will hold you tight."
Jiang Yimian was startled and quickly tried to let go, but the young man had already switched the tinder to his other hand and reached out to grasp her small hand.
Seeing this, Jiang Yimian said with dissatisfaction, "Who is your wife? I'm not married yet."
This guy is getting way too into character; he calls her "wife" whenever he gets the chance.
Lu Cijian ignored them all, his tone carrying not only joy but also a hint of resentment, "I will marry you soon, I promise."
Jiang Yimian raised an eyebrow, meeting the young man's eyes which seemed to hold both grievance and expectation. She couldn't bring herself to say anything against her will, and could only smile and say, "Yes, A-Jian is right."
Upon hearing this, Lu Cijian's tightly pursed lips immediately relaxed and curled up slightly.
Jiang Yimian's gaze then fell on the wall beside her.
There are many murals carved on the walls on both sides, but they are all blurry human figures, and the only difference can be seen from their body shape.
A burly man whips a person who is either sitting or lying on the ground.
It perfectly illustrates the situation where one side is bullied while the other side acts arrogantly.
The deeper you go, the more you can see the bloody and cruel scenes depicted in the murals.
Those thin, frail people were either skinned and boiled, or dismembered into pieces.
If the mural hadn't been devoid of color, its impact would likely have been even greater.
