Chapter 688 They Can't Interfere With Anything

Jiang Yimian stood there stunned for a while without making any other move. She looked down at her clothes, which were the same as when she was on a mission, with no changes.

That idea was so unlike her.

In her view, only by eliminating all distractions and thinking quickly and accurately can one save oneself in a crisis.

Therefore, she did this most of the time.

Only when the mission is over and I go to see that kind old lady will I deliberately wear a well-behaved mask and let go of everything.

But as soon as she leaves that mountain, her obedience disappears.

Those thoughts she just had didn't seem like her.

But she truly felt that she was exactly like that now.

Why? Did she forget something?

Past memories flashed before her eyes one by one, until the image froze on her in the training field.

Jiang Yimian was stunned.

Looking at her small self, her eyes were cold as she fought with the people around her for the dagger in the center. There was no extra emotion in her eyes, only emptiness and ruthlessness.

Even after she had beaten all those people to the ground and successfully obtained the dagger, her eyes showed no extra emotion whatsoever.

The person in the picture is clearly her, but she feels that it doesn't quite look like her.

The next scene shows her comrades in the organization.

A girl much younger than her.

The girl was very different from her, perhaps because she was younger and had only recently joined the organization. The girl would often talk to her about her former family.

It was a very warm family, with loving parents and close sisters. Even though she had heard about it many times, she still felt envious every time the other person mentioned such a family.

Therefore, whenever she heard the other person talk about their family, she would listen quietly and not interrupt.

Until the other person died during a mission, she seemed to have lost the opportunity to get close to that warm family.

Jiang Yimian just smiled self-deprecatingly. She had never had such a warm family, so how could she talk about losing it?

The scene before my eyes abruptly ended, and no further memories came flooding back.

After all, most of her memories were about various missions, and there was really nothing worth remembering.

The light spot in the distance grew increasingly intense. She slowly approached the light spot, her previous resistance gone, wanting to be swallowed up by it.

Whether she was truly cast into the deepest abyss or not, it didn't matter to her anymore.

Jiang Yimian continued to approach the spot of light, but felt a sense of emptiness in her heart, as if she had forgotten some important memories.

She paused, somewhat bewildered, unsure of what made her not want to be swallowed by the light spot at this moment.

Memories flashed through her mind, but she felt that the memories of training and completing tasks were not what she wanted to see.

Has she forgotten something?

Jiang Yimian stood there, somewhat dazed and lost in thought.

However, at that moment, strands of red thread slowly extended toward her location.

They gradually reached her, the ethereal red threads swaying slightly in mid-air.

Jiang Yimian frowned slightly, subconsciously reaching out to touch the red thread, but didn't actually grab it.

Just as Jiang Yimian was wondering where the red thread came from, the floating red thread suddenly wrapped tightly around her fingers, holding on tightly and refusing to let go.

Jiang Yimian was stunned for a moment. Something seemed to flash through her previously blank memory, and she subconsciously wanted to follow the floating red line away.

But at that very moment, the light spot that had been emitting only a faint glow suddenly became incredibly bright, illuminating the surrounding darkness considerably.

Jiang Yimian squinted, and it took her a while to adjust to the sudden bright spot.

Images appeared on the light spot before her eyes, seemingly depicting her experiences after the mission failed.

She watched her mission partner leave wounded, and watched as members of the organization retrieved her body and then cremated it.

She felt no emotional fluctuations whatsoever; on the contrary, she was very calm, as if she were observing someone else's affairs.

The person in the picture is indeed her, and she is indeed dead.

They stopped walking and continued towards the spot of light.

The red thread that had been wrapped around her fingertips had faded a little.

Inside the main building of the West Garden.

Originally, Liu'er was quite happy to see the bruises on Jiang Yimian's body gradually fading, but she suddenly noticed that Jiang Yimian's skin was becoming increasingly pale, and her body temperature was dropping sharply.

She was startled and immediately looked at the person on the soft couch, only to find that Lu Cijian was also acting strangely. Although the bleeding in his chest had stopped, his life force was slowly draining away, as if he might fall into a deep sleep at any moment.

Startled, Wang Sanzhi quickly opened the door and shouted outside, "Taoist Master, Taoist Master, what's going on? Come and take a look!"

Upon hearing this, Ling Xu could only sigh, "There's nothing I can do. Right now, they can only rely on themselves."

This method only depends on how close the connection between the two people is and whether they can break down the barriers between the two worlds; outsiders can't do much to change that.

He originally thought that with Lu Cijian's heart's blood as a guide, even if Jiang Yimian was truly attracted to another world, there would be a chance that the heart's blood would bring her back.

Now it seems that the will of the other world is even stronger than he thought.

Upon hearing this, Lin Yan'an immediately became anxious, "Old charlatan, why don't you go and take a look? Or are you doing this on purpose? Deliberately trying to frame this guy surnamed Lu?"

Now look what's happened! Jiang Meimei couldn't be saved, and that Lu guy is going to die too.
