Just as Jiang Yimian was about to be completely engulfed by the light spot, she seemed to hear shouts.
The cries, tinged with sobs, seemed to be both far away and very close to her, but she couldn't make out the specifics of what they were saying.
It seems to be calling her.
She paused for a moment. Who would call her? And call her Yi Mian so intimately?
Hesitating, she stopped in front of the spot of light.
If she takes just one more step forward, she will be completely engulfed by the light spot, and then she will probably lose consciousness completely.
This was originally nothing to her, and could even be said to be what she expected.
But now, she hesitated, because the sadness and worry in her cries were real.
She wanted to know why.
Just then, Jiang Yimian, who had already stepped halfway into the light spot, was being frantically sucked into it.
The powerful suction made her body sway, and her figure was forced forward by the strong suction within the light spot.
She frowned for a moment, hesitating whether to step directly into the spot of light following the suction force, when the red thread wrapped around her finger, which had dimmed considerably, moved again.
This time, he used even more force, trying to pull her away from the light spot.
However, the red line appeared intermittently due to the light spots, and in one section it even disappeared completely.
But at that moment, the tearful cry in her ear seemed to become clearer, "Yimian, don't leave your mother."
Mother?
Jiang Yimian was stunned for a moment. Something flashed through her mind, but she couldn't quite grasp it.
And the red thread on her finger kept pulling at her, trying to prevent her from completely disappearing into the light spot.
Jiang Yimian tried to stop him with her other hand, but only touched a sticky one.
Looking down, she realized it was blood, not some red thread at all.
The red lines that stretched towards her in the distance were all made of blood.
The bright red blood flowing down her hand inexplicably made her feel uneasy, and her initial thought of giving in to the suction force within the light spot vanished instantly.
At least let her find out where the bloodstains came from, and that woman's voice with a sobbing tone.
Thinking of this, she quickly moved away from the spot of light.
However, the light spot seemed to sense her intention. The already strong suction force intensified in that instant, threatening to engulf her completely.
The thought of leaving the spot of light that had been in her mind became chaotic again, and she was gradually being swallowed up by the spot of light.
Jiang Yimian could barely feel her hands and feet anymore.
She was constantly being drawn in by the powerful suction of the light spots behind her, and felt as if she would soon be torn to pieces and disappear.
Just as Jiang Yimian's entire body was about to dissipate, the red thread that had originally only wrapped around Jiang Yimian's fingers wrapped around her waist and abdomen, trying its best to pull her out of the spot of light.
Even though the red thread would quickly melt away upon touching the light spot, new red threads would still keep approaching the light spot. The moment the red thread binding her waist disappeared, new red threads would wrap around her again.
This process was repeated until the red line became increasingly dark.
The shouts around her grew louder at that moment, and Jiang Yimian felt the confusion in her mind lessen.
Taking advantage of this moment of clarity, she lunged forward with all her might and finally escaped the light spots that were constantly engulfing her.
The light spot suddenly brightened the moment she left, dispelling the surrounding darkness once again, and the red thread binding Jiang Yimian immediately became blurred.
Originally, only a few small sections disappeared, but now they have completely vanished from the area illuminated by the light spot, as if they had evaporated into thin air.
Jiang Yimian didn't have time to think much for a moment. Following the location of the red line in her memory, she quickly moved away from the spot of light.
Until the surrounding environment fell into darkness again.
However, this time Jiang Yimian felt no confusion, only curiosity, because the red line floating in mid-air reappeared before her eyes, tentatively touching her fingers.
The shouts in my ears seemed to become clearer.
Jiang Yimian didn't hesitate any longer and walked straight ahead along the red line.
Even though a few bright spots of light reappeared around her, she didn't approach them again, but simply followed the red line and walked through the darkness.
The further away they got from the brightest spot of light behind them, the more distinct the red line became, and the shouts in their ears gradually grew clearer.
More images flooded his confused mind.
The girl in the picture looks like her, yet she doesn't look like her.
She paused, lost in thought for a long time, unable to come back to her senses.
Inside the West Garden of the City Lord's Mansion.
Although Jiang Qingyuan and the others were standing outside, they were just as anxious as Liu'er and Wang San inside. They were as anxious as ants on a hot pan, and they became even more worried when they saw Jiang Yimian and Lu Cijian's increasingly pale faces.
Jiang Qingyuan frowned, staring intently at Lu Cijian on the soft couch, feeling that the other's face had become even paler.
His already bloodless skin became even paler than before, with a faint hint of deathly gray.
Lin Yan'an was also so anxious that he kept scratching his head, pacing back and forth, staring intently at Ling Xu, as if he would immediately give the guy a good beating if anything really happened to the two people inside.
Xie Yu was much more silent, her eyes red as she stared at the people inside the room, her hands tightly clutching her handkerchief, silently praying for the two of them.
Ling Xu, however, kept his eyes closed as before, his hands clasped together in front of him, whether in prayer or something else, he showed little expression and appeared unusually calm.
