Chapter 122 Coincidence

At that moment, she felt 252's body leaning closer. She grabbed her, pulled her behind her, and fired another shot at the loudspeaker, which immediately silenced the sound.

The action was quick, decisive, and direct, calming people down in no time.

Pandora swallowed hard, recalling everything she had experienced in Jerusalem—the two were so damn similar.

She looked over 252's shoulder and could see that the person playing the older brother was dead—she wasn't sure if he counted as an older brother, but he was older anyway. His eyes were blank, and before he breathed his last, he let out an extremely sweet scream.

And those monsters... were still tirelessly repeating their original actions, everyone was immersed in them, and the one facing her was still reciting his memorized lines even as he was being hit. From his lip movements, Pandora could tell that he was saying something like, "Someone will come to save us, don't give up."

She took a step back, feeling nauseous again. 252's figure blocked the hellish scene, but the wall behind her became transparent again, and another act of intercourse was reaching its climax. Fortunately, there were no lines, and she could only see the person's slit throat, with blood gushing out continuously.

He was laughing loudly at that time.

Pandora suddenly realized that she was pretty sure her mind was a little foggy, but she still kept thinking about it.

Are the people appearing here—the kind of weird stuff like the second fluctuation layer—real? Eoubs was probably hearing that name for the first time, and he was thinking about whether he could find a way to send a few people in to test the waters. Anyway, it's just an extra program during the transmission, and who knows, maybe someone with a brain fart will want to open the elevator and go outside to join in the fun.

Long ago, in that hell filled with theaters, people discussed her paranoia, despair, and birth, talked about what she had lost and what she never had. Everything about her was fixed and played out in countless versions, dozens of versions in just one banquet in Jerusalem—so what were the feelings of these people, these people who played the last way of life for humanity, as they watched their companions die?

What were they thinking as they watched their hometown and loved ones being destroyed in the most disgusting way, turning it into an absurd scene that outsiders had to see?

Countless poorly made, sensational, violent, and pornographic performances exist, yet so many people are still willing to buy them, watch them, and discuss them again and again, as if there is some inherent power in them that attracts people.

At the same time, those who died in humiliation were thrown into the crucible of consumption, exploited to the extreme until they had no value left.

Pandora is a case in point.

The powerful and wealthy like to exploit her because her background is related to Lilith, she is emotionally irritable, easily angered, hates everything, and is damn good-looking. She is always thinking of going against them—everywhere needs something new to stimulate power.

People will savor the resistance, tears, and pain she endured, and consume the various treasures derived from it—her flesh and blood, her dignity… her humanity.

They usually devour the food, then comment that "it tastes pretty good," before scattering in all directions.

252 suddenly said, "It's all fake. I checked it using data analysis."

She abruptly snapped out of her reverie, turned to look at the other person, her face tense and numb, and then realized she didn't know what to say to them.

She raised her hand and patted Pandora on the shoulder.

"It's all fake, just light and shadow."

The elevator paused for a few seconds, then began to descend. The overhead lights flickered symbolically a few more times, and the surroundings suddenly went dark, and the bizarre and distorted scene disappeared.

After a while, the elevator stopped and the doors opened.

"Unknown fluctuations, please wait."

Pandora discovers that the elevator is standing at the entrance of an alley. The outside world is like the end of the world. It is an alley entrance with broken organs and guns scattered in the corners. They are the old models, full of the sense of the era.

From the darkness of the corner came the mournful howl of some kind of creature, extremely pitiful, definitely not a sound a human could make, sounding like someone being dissected.

Just then, a deformed monster covered in eyeballs crawled out from the dilapidated wall at the corner of the alley. Like a millipede, its abdomen was covered with tiny segments. It smelled the raw meat and turned its head to see them.

The next second, it charged straight at you, its limbs on its underside swinging wildly, covered in countless barbs, and stained with blood and dark green pus.

Pandora licked her lips and stared at the monster. She reached for the gun, but someone grabbed her hand. In an instant, the disgusting creature was right in front of her.

At the same time, 252 pushed her backward, then snapped its fingers, and its head exploded instantly.

But the attack didn't stop. Hundreds of eyes watched them intently from their waterlogged, wrinkled bodies as they continued to crawl forward. At the same moment, however, the girl at the back of the elevator raised her hand and fired five shots in quick succession.

The marksman was very accurate; all the bullets went into his body, and the noise finally subsided.

The two hunters exchanged a glance and remained inside the elevator—the thing was wide open, showing no sign of stopping, as if waiting for them to walk out. Please, this was a complete joke.

“Fluctuation layer number 2?” Pandora asked.

"Yes, it's no longer in the original world. It doesn't matter. I can digitize it all and process it without any problem."
