Chapter 128 Schemes

"That's fucking ruthless, sister. I don't know how to describe it... In short, you've really opened my eyes."

The rain was still falling outside, and the communication channel said they hadn't found any trace of Joseph—it seemed like they were going to never find him—but the ripper's life monitor wasn't responding, so he was probably in heaven.

The operation hadn't even been underway for half a day when one of B03's was killed, and the high command of the East China branch were ecstatic, practically bursting with joy. The higher the flames rose, the happier they became.

Sheen changed into a black dress, which she had just bought at the mall. The cut was excellent, making her figure look slender and well-proportioned, highlighting all the right features.

"I was just doing what my teacher assigned me."

She stood in front of the mirror for a while, then suddenly went over and straightened Krauser's collar, leaving him somewhat flattered.

"Hmm... Although you're very good-looking, I prefer girls who are more passionate, like those sluts in B-movies who wear only strips of cloth the whole time, you know what I mean?"

Sheen smiled at him, so brightly that it was captivating, and all shadows would vanish under that smile. She spoke slowly.

"Use your intelligence to think about it. Is there any possibility that I might plant some deadly bomb or poison on you?"

This completely baffled Klaus. He was still thinking about a romantic encounter, and now he couldn't even laugh anymore.

The terminal showed that the waiting car would arrive in a while, so he squatted down by the curb and started talking about other unimportant things, such as why there was a banquet waiting for them out of the blue, and why the security was so tight that they couldn't even bring in a knife. To be honest, it was a bit ridiculous. At their level, who would play with weapons for no reason, except for specially made ammunition and firearms?

Sheen didn't answer a word. Being with a woman like that, no matter how beautiful or charming she is, you'll feel the temperature drop involuntarily.

The location of the banquet was unknown in Lin'an City—they only discovered after getting into the car that the signal was completely blocked, and the satellite phone was useless, but judging from the route, it was probably in the southeast direction—it seemed to be heading towards the sea.

Fifteen minutes later, they entered a separate passageway. It was raining outside, but it was very quiet here. It was situated on a large, calm sea, reflecting the sky. The surrounding area was lit up like a mirror, making it seem like the end of the world.

As Krauser grew impatient, he saw a mansion that was absolutely enormous.

The owner of this luxurious building is a high-ranking member of the Eastern Xia branch, transferred from the Americas a few years ago. According to the driver, he's a member of that salon. I wonder how old he is. There are so many forbidden substances that can alter genes these days, and most of the powerful and wealthy have youthful, energetic faces. Maybe in a few more years, when technology is more advanced, these idiots might actually achieve immortality.

They got out of the car and followed the commissioner into the extravagantly luxurious venue. The person hosting the gathering looked to be under thirty, dressed casually, not even in a designer brand, just a basic formal suit. His smile was gentle and approachable as he chatted with the guests. His voice was deep and powerful, like that of a successful person.

Krauser stared at him for a while, then suddenly remembered that he had seen him three years ago at a conference in New York—he remembered everyone at the conference, as the observer in charge of closing up Eoubs had said, they were all born beasts, and even if they were accidentally captured and imprisoned, under the torment of cages, racks and despair, they remained calm, vengeful and resentful of every enemy.

It was a council meeting about whether C-level operatives were qualified for promotion to higher ranks. The representative—Gore, who was then a C01—sat in the most prominent and comfortable position, smiling as he watched the heated argument. It was as if humiliation, war, and death were merely embellishments to a fine wine, meant to be served and enjoyed by him when he was in a good mood.

Sheen nudged him and handed him a glass of fruit wine.

Krauser then came to his senses. He did need to hold onto something in his hand, lest he turn around and run away without thinking. Whether it was the American branch or the Eastern Summer, everyone in Eoubs knew that Gore was a ruthless, man-eating beast. He was truly outrageous. Why was this plague god targeting them?

The atmosphere immediately became extremely serious.

He apologized to the guests, then strolled over and waved to the two of them.

“Indeed, it seems you also want to escalate things further, and joining our actions is the right thing to do.”

Gore’s first words were these after Krause sat down.

This completely stunned him. Putting aside the fact that this crazy woman next to me has some kind of teacher-student relationship with Joseph, dude... according to the usual workplace dynamics, we're competitors, aren't we? And forget about that ridiculously noble revenge for all of humanity. These days, there are very few idiots in Eoubs who would seriously consider the future of humanity. You didn't even offer an olive branch; you just threw a bomb at my face. How am I supposed to respond?

"Judging from your expression, you don't know the specific details about Joseph's betrayal."

"The Americas have now offered a $50 million bounty for his head because he killed the number 15th ranked Ripper, a man who was quite famous in the operative circle. If you called him a myth, even Jesus would kneel down and call him father. Yet, such a character was slaughtered by Joseph like a dog."

"The fatal wound was a gunshot that went through the temple. A very ordinary .54 caliber pistol took down the mighty B03."
