Chapter 155 A Show of Force
Half an hour before the banquet began.
He Yu casually picked out a new dress—every single one was ridiculously expensive, it didn't matter what she wore, her closet of clothes was said to be enough to buy several villas, and it would increase rapidly over time.
He also got a damn flashy luxury sports car, a limited edition, all dark gold, incredibly ostentatious. Lu Jin said it was bought specifically for him by those guys at the salon; after all, he had entered the capitalist class, all because of his perfect performance in Los Angeles—those idiots must have used some privileges to access his battle records, which makes sense.
"It would be so much more interesting if 659 were here," he thought. "That guy would immediately take control of the body, flashing an incredibly arrogant smile, and speed around inside the Eoubs a few times. He might even have sex with a few lucky guys along the way. Only after he's had his fill will he join the others for the banquet. When they enter the hall, they'll be greeted by countless admiring glances, applause, and praise."
They arrived at the hall quickly, and luckily, there wasn't a large group of people who wanted to gossip crowding around them. Instead, they all stopped what they were doing and turned to look at He Yu.
Lu Jin suddenly had a strange feeling of his body and soul separating, and he realized that something extraordinary might be about to happen here.
Unlike Gore's idiot nuclear attack, but essentially very similar—everyone here was prepared, knew something was going to happen.
They were all waiting for He Yu to attend the banquet and were certain that he would come.
Someone stepped out from the crowd. It was a woman in a gray dress with a sharp and cold look between her brows. She seemed to really like this color, as she even dyed her hair a similar shade. Few people could pull off this outfit, but she was one of the very few who could do it without any problem.
Most people in the Passage Department recognized her. She was one of the representative release officers of the Eoubs Intercontinental Liaison Group, responsible for approving and destroying all documents for the core members' comings and goings. Occasionally, when the control mission reached its most critical point, she would be responsible for announcing a retreat or sending reinforcements. She did have this authority, and the people she managed were top-notch. Regular consumables were not worth a second glance from this woman.
Of course, when in a good mood, I'll also announce some pre-written messages in the channel, congratulating those unlucky guys on surviving again. For the next period of time, they can vent to their heart's content, collect their paychecks, or have sex with the people they love.
"Hello, Mr. He." After saying that, the man stepped forward and gave him a light hug. Behind him stood many operatives and employees from the communications department.
They had never met before, but at this moment they were in an intimate atmosphere as if they had just gotten out of bed.
“Miss An,” He Yu said, his smile incredibly beautiful. He looked at her with a greedy expression, as if he were facing a feast and ready to devour everything. “Ever since I came to Eoubs, I’ve heard some people mention you. Now that I see your stunning face, I feel I could die happy.”
The man chuckled at the compliment—of course, it was all an act; how could he believe the devil's words?
“Mr. He is so humorous. In the combat log, you weren’t so gentle when you pulled Joseph’s arm off.” As she said this, she suddenly raised her hand and took his forearm, smiling charmingly and seductively: “Your ability to read minds has completely ignored defenses? I brought a lot of shielding gear specifically for this purpose.”
"Since you know about me, I naturally have to find a way to see through you as well."
Lu Jin's gaze swept over the two of them, and at the same time, a crazy thought crossed his mind: he felt that it wouldn't be long before the two of them would sneak into the control room and start fighting—provided that neither of them was plotting against the other or harboring any ulterior motives.
Then, he saw the man loosen his grip on He Yu's hand. She showed an expression of great regret and slowly said, "To be honest, I know you want to devour me alive and taste me. It doesn't matter at all. As long as you want it, the salon staff can agree with just a word. Not to mention me, if you want to play it big, you can bring Yu Yu and the others along."
"But I'm really looking forward to what's coming next. I have to witness it. You can take it as a gift. It was specially prepared by the higher-ups. I was quite surprised too."
She raised an eyebrow at him and took a few steps back.
The people behind him made way, and then He Yu saw the child.
She looked bewildered, covered in filth. He Yu stared at her for a long time, his mind filled with thoughts of utter disbelief. Couldn't Pandora put some peace of mind? The dress she was wearing was a custom-made piece that she had bought at great expense, but now the original color and shape of the dress were unrecognizable. The child looked like she had escaped from a disaster movie, even her hair was disheveled.
Fortunately, her face was relatively clean, so someone must have wiped it for her.
She stood cautiously in the luxurious, brightly lit hall, her whole body tense, just like she had been in the castle in Jerusalem—ready to escape at any moment when the opportunity arose. No matter how much time had passed, she was still that fool who was used to running away and deceiving her own heart.
The moment He Yu saw Pandora, he understood everything and knew what had happened to her.
No matter how disgusting or unscrupulous their methods are, those people always succeed, and they do it with remarkable professionalism. It's as if they're striving relentlessly to destroy others as a supreme cause.
Then, the other person also saw him.
