Chapter 159 Acting Alone
He Yu didn't answer immediately. He first glanced at his phone, then casually selected a song and played it directly from the speakers without headphones. The light from the villa's dome shone on his face, casting shadows that divided his features, making him appear menacing and unfamiliar.
"Sure, I happen to have something to tell you."
Seeing him come down, Yu Yun raised her hand and turned the holographic projection to its maximum size, covering the entire living room—only then did he realize that she was watching all the videos shown in the salon.
“This guy, the pervert who slept with Ms. An.” She stared at the screen, her eyes devoid of emotion, and said, “It’s not just him, all the guys in the salon have something wrong with them.”
He Yu had no choice but to look at the floating screen for a while. He remembered that guy—whose name was Gu Heng—was also on the reinforcement list and would be leaving soon.
—Only a bunch of idiots love playing role-playing games for the sake of visual appeal and the satisfaction of their perverse desires.
“They all have ‘double images’ on them,” Yu Yu continued. “Because I have 092 implanted, I can see the subtle fluctuations left by the node backtracking. Although I’m not advanced enough to see the dead points clearly, it’s enough to detect the problem.”
“You’ve grown up too fast, Mr. Postman 0027-1221.”
"A tool that cannot be fully controlled will not go very far."
He Yu found himself somewhat nostalgic for this form of address, which he had heard once before. Back then, the two of them had started a less-than-friendly conversation in a similar setting. He gave her a bright smile, while also knowing perfectly well what she meant.
Then, he turned and went to the bar to pour himself a glass of tequila. He had brought it back before attending the banquet; it was all high-quality stuff sent by the higher-ups—in fact, he couldn't really tell the difference between good and bad, but that didn't affect people's fixed judgment that these things were all good liquors.
He poured more than half a glass, then took the glass and walked over to Yu Yu, lying down on the sofa.
She opened several split screens and shared the filtered database with him. He Yu looked down at it. The "boss" turned to look at him quietly, then suddenly reached out and poked his chest, leaving several dark red finger marks.
"Listen, I don't want to..."
What deals did you make with them?
"What?"
"You know what I'm talking about."
The other person stared at him for a long time, then leaned closer to smell his scent.
"Alright, I'm going to participate in the Heavenly Gospel mission. I'm leaving tonight. I'm coming back to beat up all of you who are dragging me down. I hope you'll be unconscious for a week until that's all over before you wake up."
He Yu, with an innocent and sincere demeanor, said nonchalantly, "Don't worry, you can last for several months without eating or drinking. As for Li Lin, I'll bring him back on the way, as a way of repaying a favor."
Yu Yun raised an eyebrow, and the recording video around them automatically switched to the next item—they were incredibly lucky, it was the restricted type, and the living room was instantly filled with sticky panting and wolfish whispers.
They sat silently on the sofa for a while, the atmosphere a little awkward, but they still chose to drink what was in their glasses. He Yu wanted to laugh at the woman's taste for a moment—white beer? Could that even make you drunk? But then he thought better of it; she was probably a little frustrated and didn't bother to laugh.
"Oh, right." He remembered something and said to her with a normal expression, "I swallowed the 602 poison, it worked quite well. I added some to that pot of wine. When Pandora wakes up, remind her that if that little brat drinks it, he might be going to heaven."
Yu Yu looked up at him but didn't say anything. He continued, "Don't forget to give my regards to Yu Jianchu."
Why don't you do it yourself?
“Don’t be silly, big sister. Actually, I quite like you guys.” He Yu stood up. At this moment, he was like most operatives who could survive control missions—cold, vigilant, and his mind was quickly thinking of various ideas: “Do you really think I would bite back? We’re all just characters in a stage play. As long as I can handle things first, that’s enough.”
Yu Yu simply gripped the wine glass, and after a while, she said, "I'm sorry."
He nodded, indicating that he understood.
“I don’t know why I would lie to you.” She took a breath, something changing in her expression. “Maybe it’s because of my long-standing ways of doing things. Yes, I’ve been using you, but no one can drag me to my execution. Well, those bastards in the salon might, but thank God they’ve all died a few times already.”
"I think I just hope those things can stay the way they are, maybe find a suitable place for people like us to live, or just destroy the world."
“This is a really funny joke.” He Yu laughed hysterically again, and in the background of the video, someone let out a long, relieved howl.
"But you won't find it."
Yu stared at him for a moment, sighed, and replied, "Of course I know."
“Sometimes… no, I should say all along, they just won’t get better.” The other person continued, picking up a glass of bubbly liquid in the erotic setting. “Suffering is just suffering, and the questions you try to answer will never have the right answers.”
He said this while lying on the sofa cushions, having finished the entire bottle of wine in one go. It was fucking strong; it was enough to make you scream for your parents. He suddenly remembered a long time ago, when those two old idiots cooked him porridge and mocked him, saying that once he was successful, it wouldn't matter anymore; he'd have enough money to get sick. They wouldn't have to do this anymore, and would probably be able to enjoy some peace and quiet.
