Chapter 172 Extreme Evolution
As they approached their target, Hebrew slowed down, rolled down the window, and whistled at the man.
"Madam, you're badly injured. Would you like a ride?" He smiled very gently and spoke in a very friendly tone.
An Ru was covered in blood, looking exactly like the person He Yu and Pandora had encountered earlier. Her brain seemed to have been hit hard, and it took her a long time to react before she looked up.
Stanford pulled the locker in the car, not to reach for the medicine, but to draw his gun.
After a while, the man opened his lips and stammered, "This time... it's you guys who have come to us. The reinforcements from the original node... arrived just in time."
After she finished speaking, she looked at the two of them for a while, then moved a little to the side—presumably to find a safe distance—and continued walking forward.
Hebrew gestured to Stanford to follow, whose expression twisted as if he wanted to kill someone—only then did he realize he was sitting in the driver's seat.
"Hey! You're so badly injured, come on up. We'll take you wherever you need to go. You just need to answer a few questions."
Hebrew slowed down the car and took out several bandages and medicine. Seeing that An Rushi still ignored him, he simply stopped the car and walked straight towards her.
Do you know why you ran into me here?
Hebrew paused for a moment, unsure of the meaning behind those words, and simply replied, "Huh?"
He thought to himself, "This woman looks half-dead but also has a precognitive air. Could she be another group of operatives from those disordered time and space?"
An Ru finally stopped and gave her answer before he could reply.
"Because you, who are at the bottom of the anchor point, are dead, the original new nodes are filled in."
Hebrew's eyelids twitched. What the hell was she talking about?
“The fragments of the ‘Rules of Fate’ are scattered throughout these dozen or so infected areas, but the space in each area has been cut off.”
“In areas with a high degree of infection, even the most ordinary item can become tainted by karma, causing you to fall into the net.”
"But all of that was predetermined."
“Apart from the trajectory of 659, which is unfathomable, even the true form of 2407—the Gospel of Heaven—cannot interfere much.”
"This is the first time you've met me, but I... am already very familiar with you two."
Hebrew gasped. This was so damn weird, but why did the conversation sound so familiar?
"I don't understand what you're saying... but it's awesome, bro."
"So, we shouldn't have to fight, right? You look pretty bad."
Hebrew found it incredibly mysterious. 'Destiny'? He had heard those forbidden things mention that thing in the fluctuation layer, and after returning, he discovered that some of the higher-ups in Eoubs were also researching it. He became even more certain that he couldn't let this person leave so easily; he had to at least extract some clues from him.
"Listen, I can do anything to you..."
Bang!
A loud bang.
An Ru Shi's collarbone was ripped open, as if something had been driven in at an angle, instantly squeezing out half of her body before finally emerging from her hip bone.
Hebrew was completely stunned. Who the hell fired the shot? He hadn't even noticed any vital signs from the other people.
Just then, Stanford got out of the car as if nothing had happened, walked around to his back, and said calmly, "Don't guess, no one's around."
"I value my life, don't lie to me."
"A B03 of your caliber is not afraid of being shot in the dark? Bullets made with special features can't hurt you."
"That's true! How did this person suddenly die?"
As Hebrew spoke, he glanced again at the gruesome corpse on the ground—An Ru was practically minced meat.
Stanford slowly walked to the pile of rotten flesh, stroking the head that had been blown to pieces, completely unconcerned about the blood and brain matter on his hands.
He lowered his head and sniffed, remained silent for a few seconds, then stood up and walked back.
"Hey, wait... you suddenly look like you're filming a detective drama. Can't you tell me what you've discovered?" Hebrew was greatly shocked and followed without thinking.
“Drive, we have to get out of here immediately.” As he spoke, he pulled out all the suppressants, opened them one by one, and poured them into the SUV, which provoked Hebrew to curse.
Despite the criticism, when it comes to driving, you still have to bite the bullet and drive.
"Let me tell you first, smelling this stuff will have a significant impact on traits, especially since it's a limited edition, particularly for 'Authorities'."
Hebrew sped up to 140 km/h. He didn't know where he was going, he just drove straight to the end of the road. The infected areas were all next to each other anyway, so he just drove wherever the road took him.
“Eoubs-031, the blood source of all things.”
Have you heard of it?
Stanford raised his hand, which was still stained with blood, and the next second, a flame spontaneously combusted, raising the temperature inside the car.
But he seemed to feel no pain at all, calmly watching his skin and flesh crack as they were burned open, and continued to explain: "A primitive virus from the wave layer once caused a large-scale infection phenomenon."
Just as Hebrew was about to say something, he saw the flames vanish instantly, taking with them the charred flesh and blood—at this moment, Stanford's right hand was completely healed, without even a scar.
"Yeah, that's fucking cool. You're like a high-level warlock in a game world."
"So... why did this 031 appear in Heaven's Gospel, and how did it kill that lady just now?"
