Chapter 240 Acting According to Rules

Chapter 241 Acting According to Rules

Five minutes later.

Sheen paid at the self-service machine, picked up her miscellaneous items, and turned to leave. Before leaving, she gave the cashier a friendly smile—the cashier relaxed, even though she really wanted to kill him and loot the entire supermarket of medicines. But she decided against it... she didn't want to get into trouble for no reason.

Some kind of specific drug, she thought, "and apparently only the residents here have those nightmare points."

Sheen suddenly stopped because a patrol car had stopped across from the supermarket, and then a guy who looked like a policeman in the real world—at least his uniform was similar to the ones outside—was walking up to her SUV parked on the side of the street, putting on a parking ticket and looking into the car window.

You're really stirring things up, buddy. After all, Bel Hera, that mentally ill guy, is still in there.

Sheen rushed over and called out to him, "Excuse me, officer, is there anything I can help you with?"

The white police officer, who looked to be in his forties, was looking into the SUV. Fortunately, Bel Hera remained quiet and simply sat obediently in his seat.

Hearing Sheen's voice, he tore off the ticket, turned around and stared at her for a moment, then said in a flat tone, "You need to pay the fine for parking here."

Sheen walked over and gave him a surprised and apologetic smile, but he was already planning to kill the other person as quickly as possible if a conflict broke out. No one would notice; he would simply disappear like a wisp of smoke.

She said, "I'm so sorry, is cash payment acceptable?"

The man stared straight at her. Sheen knew what that look meant. If you went to a tattoo parlor and tattooed your entire skin black, and then took a taxi to a white neighborhood that was particularly xenophobic towards black people, or to a church with a strong religious affiliation, that's how the residents would look at you.

“You’re not a local, ma’am.” The policeman’s tone finally softened, and he continued in an authoritative voice, “So you’ll need to come back to the station with me. You and your friend will need to register, as will this car.”

"I'm sorry, we were just passing through," Sheen said with a smile, as the temperature suddenly rose considerably.

“I don’t care, these are the rules. Sunset Hill has established this rule since its inception: whoever enters the tunnel area is our fellow countryman, a new resident here.”

The other party spoke as if Sheen's answer was so rebellious, and as the guardian of this rule, he should therefore put on a noble expression of holding his ground.

“From the moment you step into the tunnel, you belong to Sunset Hill. Even your car and any other object belong to Sunset Hill. So you need to get a check-in certificate and register your residence. After that, you can leave whenever you want.”

Your mother is dead? What idiot set this rule? Is he even better at manipulation than Eoubs?

Sheen just thought it was too absurd, fucking outrageous. She was just forced to pass through this place, and yet she was deprived of even her basic human rights. No wonder that madman Bell didn't want to stay here.

She was too lazy to cooperate anymore. Although this was someone else's territory and it was best to follow their rules, she didn't have time to waste here.

Sheen instantly felt murderous intent. Just as she activated her special ability, preparing to give this idiot a free barbecue meal—

Bel Hera jumped out of the car with incredible speed—damn, how did she pick the lock? Sheehan was stunned. Then he watched as the madwoman raised her hands in a gesture of surrender to the policeman, saying, "We'll definitely register, please don't worry."

The man didn't leave immediately, but stared at her for a long time before slowly replying, "Right now, follow my car, I'll take you to the police station to register."

As if sensing Sheen's dissatisfaction, he added another sentence.

"Actually, it won't take much time. We just need to record your names and such. We'll also give you two free Nightmare Points, which you can use to buy some tranquilizers or something."

"If possible, could you take us to refuel first?" Belle was unusually clear-headed at this moment—she had been to Sunset Hill before, but why didn't that idiot cop recognize her? Was it because she had died once?

"Register first, then I'll take care of it."

Yes, things are getting frustrating again, Sheen thought, hoping He Yu and the others could stabilize the situation.

She didn't say anything more, but eventually started the car and followed the police car.

"Are you sure there won't be any problems with our registration?" Sheen said somewhat helplessly from the driver's seat. "You clearly know some inside information, so why are you unwilling to tell me? Ms. Bell, I'm the only one who can help you right now."

There was silence in the back seat again; she was used to not getting any useful answers.

The police station wasn't far from the supermarket. Sheen followed the car through three streets and made two turns before seeing a landmark building—the words "Sunset Hill District 27 Police Base" were written on the top of the gate. She was even more certain that this run-down place was definitely not the tunnel itself; at least the road she had driven along and the area she had seen were much larger than those in a typical small town.

Next, she and Bell registered their information and gave their names—Sheen was careful and used Gore's name. She didn't have any identification documents with her, the only thing she had was He Yu's business card—and then they received a residence permit with their individual photos printed on it, which looked quite legitimate.
