Chapter 269 Overdrawing the Future

Chapter 270 Overdrawing the Future

When Lu Jin drove to the location Stanford had agreed upon beforehand, he was standing at the intersection, wearing a surgical gown that was clearly not his own—the white coat still had medicine stains and a few spots of color that looked like excrement on it—and there were two suitcases on either side of him, with a little blood seeping from the bottom, making him look like he had just committed murder and robbery.

"Wow, your outfit is... really unique."

Lu Jin rolled down the car window, stared at Stanford for a while, and didn't rush him to get in. Instead, he asked, "What are all these things in here?"

"I'll explain when the time comes."

The other person suddenly smiled and picked up one of the briefcases right in front of him, opening it deftly—the deep red velvet interior looked like a handful of blood from the dark depths of bone marrow, with something lying inside, a shadow in the overall tone.

Lu Jin vaguely felt that it was something like a chip, and just then... a bead appeared out of thin air in Stanford's hand.

Immediately afterwards, some unknown material climbed up the back of his entire right hand, like a blood-red river. It must be a life-form weapon developed by Heaven's Gospel—that's what he would naturally think, because the thing was indeed flowing and could even make a sound.

Like a baby sipping.

A faint moan.

Stanford waved his hand, and in that instant, the river abruptly transformed and lengthened. As if something in the air had been prepared beforehand, invisible materials began to work, assembling into a dagger.

"Really? Is that all?"

Lu Jin was shocked.

They made it sound so mysterious, I thought they could just pull out some divine weapons. Are they just using me for the sake of the show?

"You can't expect me to just stand here and cut the whole of New York in half, can you?"

Stanford said to Lu Jin, who was pretending to be dead while slumped over the steering wheel.

"Haha, sure, I trust you to handle things." He chuckled twice, indicating that there was no need for such a charade; we'd only know for sure when we needed to use you.

Upon hearing this, Stanford bent down again, unlocked the lock on another suitcase, casually tossed the key onto the road, then picked up the first suitcase he had opened and got into the car, leaving the unlocked suitcase on the roadside like an orphan.

"Alright, let's drive."

He solemnly put the chip back into his briefcase and handed it to Lu Jin—who suddenly felt that this scene was equivalent to some kind of handover ceremony. If Sheen were here—she certainly wouldn't want to miss it, and would most likely keep the image highlighted and play it on a loop on the terminal recording day and night—the thing inside might be like a nuclear weapon button, the kind that can be fired with one click—very human-like, and capable of easily swallowing everyone.

The moment he received it, a notification appeared in his field of vision—although it only contained partial information, at least Lu Jin now knew its name.

Fusion No. 3.

Damn, just hearing the name makes it sound incredibly awesome. Lu Jin thought to himself, "I'll find some time tonight to figure it out and see if I can master it."

"What is a fusion entity? And you've been lurking for so long, just to get this thing?"

Completely fearless, Lu Jin switched the car to autopilot mode, quickly opened the briefcase, and took out the chip lying in its original position.

The moment it touched his fingertips, the unknown material covered his entire palm as it had been before, gentle and peaceful, like holding a delicate and expensive veil that made one weep, yet containing enough death within it.

"All you need to know is that it's a combination of 2407 and 031."

"What I'm going to do, and why I decided to cooperate with you at the last minute, is not your concern."

"All you need to know is that I have no hostility towards you during this period of cooperation."

Stanford sat in the back, his gaze somewhat blank—in fact, he was gathering information on the encrypted forum, such as who had gone to a certain uncontrolled area, which research base had suddenly exploded, all the tortured experimental subjects inside had escaped, the human trafficking case related to the Gospel of Heaven had finally been exposed, a certain violent civilian organization seemed to be rebellious, and if the two old gods didn't stop their supernatural powers soon, they would be attacking California, and—

After comprehending the cause and effect at the pinnacle of death, a scoundrel broke free from nearly a trillion reincarnations, broke the fourth wall, and was successfully resurrected.

"Crazy, what you said is really awesome."

"Let me think—did the other box actually contain a biological bomb?"

"So you did that on purpose."

Stanford immediately lost interest in dealing with the man, thinking to himself, "Maybe I'm just unlucky enough to be another Hebrew?"

"Okay, just kidding."

"Please, tell me what's in the second box."

Lu Jin raised his hand, and the fusion entity began to grow in his palm, multiplying rapidly. In less than a few seconds, a giant cannon appeared in his hand, almost the size of an adult, heavy and oppressive. Its surface was covered with flowing blood and metallic shells, exuding a sense of biological mutation and destruction, and radiating a chilling murderous aura.

“I can feel it.”

"The conceptual energy contained within this."

"It even involves many causes and effects."

"Using the disruptive node characteristics of 2407 as energy, and then using the compatibility of 031 as the carrier for constructing weapons."

"He's a fucking genius. Li Lin didn't waste all those years in the adjudication department. He's a master of interrogation. His ability to tinker with this kind of torturous weapon is just awesome."

Stanford almost laughed at what he said, not in a sarcastic way, but because the description was so simplistic, yet it was actually quite accurate.

Lu Jin lovingly stroked the unexpected windfall, while the considerate man in the back seat didn't disturb him until they were about to reach their destination, at which point he finally uttered a word.

"Using this thing even once will ruin your future."

The former immediately stuffed it back into his briefcase, then turned around with an innocent look and said sincerely, "It has been a pleasure to work with you, but this gift is too generous. Please take it back and return it to Li Lin, esteemed Mr. South African representative."

"It likes you very much."

Do you know why?

"Because your cause and effect are even more complex than mine, the form it takes in your hands will become so... lethal."

"This is your talent."

“When we first met, I was thinking, how could you, D04, possibly kill the members of the Salon right under Gore’s nose?”

Lu Jin quickly waved his hand, indicating that he shouldn't do that. Although that thing would indeed be ridiculous to use, unless someone was brain-dead, who would risk their future in a virtual space?

"Old sage, don't flatter me to death."

"I'm a complete alcoholic. I only got into this mess because that bitch Sheen tricked me."

"You believe me, really."

It would be a miracle if Stanford believed him.
