Chapter 308 Reunion
Sheen didn't know how to describe the feeling, but she could sense that behind the chaotic aging around her, some new kind of life was being formed.
Further along the passage, the alien creatures emerged one after another from the cracks in the walls and dome, repeating the cycle of maturation and death—as if they were undergoing a grand ecological evolution.
Roy still didn't do anything, just stared blankly at Bell who was about to leave. At that moment, Bell, who had reached the door, turned around to look at him as if he had a sudden inspiration.
From spending time with her over this period, Sheen felt that she always had a cold and mysterious image, like a prophet who could foresee the future. She was completely unlike Hera's crazy talk and could sense things that ordinary people could not understand. She loved the various rules of this huge dream and the details of how to escape.
But at this moment, looking at the young girl standing at the door—the feeling she conveyed was not the same as before—sadness, gloom, and helplessness.
"You're missing a key."
"I think you understand what I mean."
"Just now, I saw once again how all the nodes ended up."
"So let's get started."
"This is the meaning of my being here."
Belle nodded; she knew, of course, that Roy was talking to her. Then she looked around and quickly walked toward the operating table.
Sheen was somewhat confused.
Then, she went to Roy's side, pressed down on his head, and twisted it once.
"Your mom?"
Sheen stared in shock at the scene, feeling as if his brain had been manipulated and completely shut down.
Roy belatedly raised his hand—he wasn't completely dead yet, but of course, it was too late to do anything now.
Because Belle tore off his entire head, then reached into the laceration, clawed for a while, and finally pulled it out—she was holding something that looked like a jagged chain, still dripping with blood.
After Bell finished doing all this, he quickly returned to Sheen's side.
She smelled strongly of blood, but she didn't care at all. She just casually showed the thing she was carrying to Sheen.
That was Roy's head, with a whole spine hanging below it, and the remaining blood vessels on it were twitching.
No matter what rank he was, he was now dead beyond any doubt. The remains on the operating table were still twitching, like a leech sprinkled with salt.
He could even control his hands, and when he reached out to grab something, it was mostly his missing spine, which he tried to put back in.
Sheen really didn't understand why Roy did this; the scene was just too damn weird.
"Hmm... He's a very reasonable and kind person."
"How noble of him to wish to die as a human being and to make a contribution."
Bell said that.
Sheen felt a chill.
For a fleeting moment, she felt sorrow for this creature who still wanted to be human even in death, but then she realized that this was something Roy had done voluntarily, and there seemed to be nothing to say about it.
He made Bell actively attack the poor soul in the bed, while giving himself the highest form of human sacrifice.
That's a classic.
One minute later.
They walked back the way they came through the passage, with Belle following behind, half of her body covered in blood. She kept telling Sheen that she would definitely take a shower after they got out, but she probably wouldn't have time—she couldn't wait to lock Hera up again.
The two used themselves as a kind of scouting tool, rambling on and on as they searched for a way home in this terrifying area.
At this moment, Sheen once again felt the chaos and terror of this B01—indifferent to everything and taking the sacrifices of others for granted.
When I first arrived on this business trip, I specifically asked He Yu about the situation.
"Ah...right, that guy is a big shot, but he's pretty much ruined because he's been trapped in dreams for so long. Both sisters have developed a mental illness that they'll never get better." The other person said to her calmly, "Don't worry, Pandora has predicted tens of thousands of outcomes, and your chances of coming back are 95%."
“What if I’m fucking unlucky and happen to be in that 5%? Wouldn’t that be a disaster?” Sheen replied at the time. “I think Yu Yu is more suited to this kind of swindling and deception than I am.”
He Yu waved his hand, signaling her to stop this charade, and said absentmindedly, "She has more important things to do. It's okay, I believe you."
"Thank you so much, you fucking amazing." Sheen was completely speechless.
So she didn't say anything more. The two were talking in a simple salon; the environment was quite ordinary. The other person entrusted her with such an important matter not because they had met before, but because Sheen's characteristics were more stable than others.
“This matter is as important as a man’s balls.” He Yu thought for a moment, then added, “You know, according to the records in the database, she belongs to the group closest to A-level. In short, don’t be too sentimental about this person, just bring her back.”
He laughed at himself at the end, clearly knowing that Sheen wasn't the type to meddle in other people's business, and that his reminder was completely unnecessary.
Then he patted her on the shoulder and left.
At this moment, just as planned, Sheen followed the Black Goat Asylum Director, whom he shouldn't have invested too much emotion in, into the insane world of the Bucket Eoubs.
The person next to her had their head down, their hair was slightly curly at the edges and covered in blood, and their face was too young to look like a powerful B01 agent.
"Those who are closest to Grade A," well, that means they are indeed born fools who would pay with their lives for forbidden things.
Sheen shouldn't have trusted people like Hera, who always made a mess of things, spoke incoherently, had a sad and confused look in her eyes, and seemed so incompetent, as if she had suffered some terrible pain in life that had broken her.
But she was able to trust Bell more.
It's just because the other party is more sober.
Just then, a worm that looked like a large intestine landed on Sheen's shoulder. Without thinking, she reached out and swatted it off.
That large laboratory was just the edge of Zone N27; the passageway at this moment... this is the very core.
Countless faces made of flesh and blood hung upside down above the dome, with an incalculable number of bodies crawling and devouring within them. Every now and then, new flesh would grow out and then quickly disappear.
They cannot escape; once born, they age rapidly or are eaten by their own kind, leaving behind only a huge mouth full of sharp teeth after death—a fleeting existence.
The scene repeats itself once again, with the skeleton and organs of a boy faintly appearing, and Sheen vaguely seeing that it was Roy's face.
She suddenly felt nauseous.
Faced with this frenzied exchange of flesh and blood, everything seemed so sorrowful and incomprehensible.
