Chapter 317 Crime and Punishment

Chapter 318 Crime and Punishment

Zelda Swirl Cons.

The man is from Beirut, Lebanon. He comes from an ordinary family; his parents are both ordinary workers with no political background or business connections.

As for him, his physique and appearance are not outstanding, so becoming a male model is definitely not a viable path for him. As for his intelligence... he's about average, just another ordinary person, and he didn't do anything particularly valuable or amazing from childhood to adulthood.

Of course, he also maintains a completely unambitious attitude towards his career and the future.

This seemingly ordinary person, by chance, became a member of the Knights of the European branch of Eoubs, the world's most secretive official organization, and, under favorable conditions, had a high probability of becoming Hamilton's second-in-command.

Honestly, even if Zelda himself were to look back on these events, he would feel like he was filming a science fiction movie.

But fate is full of surprises.

If one were to review his life in a film-like manner, and were to find a truly extraordinary characteristic in this man, it would almost certainly be that he had come into contact with something forbidden that possessed mind-controlling properties.

Unlike some loser who manipulates the butterfly effect, Zelda's joining Eoubs was almost a matter of fate.

For example, on the day Zelda turned 25, he was speeding down the street on his friend's motorcycle when he was nearly killed by a drunk rich kid. And wouldn't you know it... that guy was the son of a vice-minister in the Eoubs, and he even had a sample of a forbidden substance in his car that should have been destroyed. And those substances, by sheer coincidence, merged with Zelda's near-death state—this was all part of the predetermined rules.

For example, in the year the "Special Infected Extermination Plan" took place, Zelda, who had only been with Euubs for less than two years, was preparing to go to the Americas for an intelligence-gathering mission when a reckless researcher locked him in the control room. He was even nearly put into a shredder and turned into a hamburger, thus delaying his planned trip. Normally, the control room switch only requires genetic authentication to activate, but Zelda was so terrified by the sight of the shredder that he fainted for several hours. Thinking about it this way, it seems this guy always manages to encounter probabilistic events.

But let's look at it from another angle. If Zelda had arrived in America smoothly that day, he certainly wouldn't have survived until the next day.

Because the one who carried out that mission was Joseph.

That "Special Infected Extermination Plan" was the largest indiscriminate massacre mission in the United States.

Of course, there are even more outrageous examples right now: an hour before the access to the Mirror of Eternal Dreams was blocked, he happened to be on fieldwork near Siberia, which is why the person in charge sent him inside to reinforce Hamilton.

Admittedly, the reason this unambitious and boastful individual was allowed to go on a business trip was probably nothing important, but given the situation at the time, with Joseph and He Yu having thoroughly humiliated him on every continent, Zelda was the only operator in the entire European branch whose characteristics could be considered impressive and whose rank reached B03.

The reason the person in charge chose him that time was very simple... Although this idiot was lazy and loved to eat, he was still very obedient to the small circle of the Knights.

After so many years of observation, Zelda's loyalty to the European Parliament is absolutely unquestionable, after all, they are his benefactors; as for his hard power and qualifications, he is certainly sufficient, and much more stable than Sergio who has awakened the butterfly effect, so sending this lackey to the Mirror of Eternal Dreams... is not a problem.

If we really judge it from a cinematic perspective, Zelda is practically another version of Forrest Gump, or a heavily modified version of Sergio.

If he is to be called the chosen one, then at least within the European branch, no one can really be ranked among them. After all, Hamilton doesn't rely on luck, but on his hard fists.

Did you think that was the end of it?

Of course not.

The story of Zelda has only just begun its prologue.

Forty minutes after the plane crash operation began.

His "chosen one" destiny has returned.

He Yu and his team launched their campaign against the Gospel of Heaven at breakneck speed during this period. Mike Rong, Catherine, Hamilton, and Hera, who had the same mission as him, were all killed in a very short time.

Only Zelda survived by chance, thanks to her ability to see the mental network of all the operatives under certain circumstances.

He concealed his presence throughout and, just as the Mirror of Eternal Dreams was on the verge of collapse, made contact with the person in charge who had been waiting for him.

Several hours later, Zelda, following the instructions of the person in charge, successfully infiltrated the inner battlefield and launched a surprise attack when He Yu and Li Lin were exhausted from their battle, killing both of them.

This news spread directly to the present day, causing a global shock.

Thus, Zelda, who exposed the atrocities of the East and Americas branches, became a true hero. Moreover, in the current situation of covert struggle, the people of these two branches instantly became the target of public criticism; a group of leaders who were just there for the spectacle immediately nominated Zelda to be the "temporary executioner of Europe," and launched a worldwide investigation and elimination mission for agents who were detrimental to the future of humanity.

The entire process took less than half a year. As the two countries with the most conceptual taboos, the Americas and the East Xia had most of the operatives killed off under this siege. The slightly more sensible ones either chose to defect to the enemy or went straight to the Run, where no one could find them.

After the encirclement and suppression mission was completed, the European branch, which had attracted the attention, discussed with the high-level officials of other continents who would manage the remaining forbidden items and how they would be distributed. They then superficially established a "unified continental" management system.

Aside from internal factors and the plan to subdue the wave layer, the Earth is at peace for the time being.

And what about our hero, Zelda?

He naturally rose directly to the pinnacle of his life. With the help of a group of people creating and planning his image, this guy transformed into the most prestigious bastard in the world, playing with different female stars every day, owning countless assets, and able to decide who dies or who lives... of course, he could do that too.

—And then?

And that was the end of it.

Because the "sin" that belonged solely to him has ended.

When Zelda falls into Lu Jin's "sin and punishment" situation, this series of seemingly incredibly realistic experiences... are all just a reflection of his original sin, which is defined as "sloth."

Having already read through the crime, Lu Jin showed no mercy and marked him with a "punishment" cross.

Zelda.

And so he died in that fantasy.
