Chapter 365 Repair Work

Chapter 366 Repair Work

659 triumphantly dealt with the monster that crossed the spatial layer. Seeing that He Yu didn't react at all, he immediately pretended to be very scared and moved a little closer to He Yu's position—which makes perfect sense; that's how it develops between lovers who enjoy horror movies.

The repairs were quickly completed, and the main feature began—a science fiction film less than two hours long, seemingly shot in a desolate plain resembling the Wild West, with the main plot revolving around tracking the lives of a dozen or so people who didn't even have names.

It's not presented in the style of a conventional commercial film; most of the content pops up randomly, as if the order has been deliberately scrambled. The scenes He Yu and 659 see are like being in an endless sea, with human-faced monsters and fish swimming past you from time to time—if you look closely, you'll also see many willow-like corpses, layers of intertwined organs, or scenes of humans devouring themselves.

Everything is buried in that boundless deep sea, where you can't observe anything unless you look closely. These plots are meaningless, yet they are so cruel and chilling.

The atmosphere it creates is so vivid that it instantly evokes the feeling of being trapped in a nightmare, utterly illogical and chaotic. Those subtle emotions you once possess seem to have been deliberately erased by the producers, but they actually exist, if you look closely—they reside on the edge of each character's fate.

The film depicts the deaths of these nameless people, who one by one perish in the mire of despair and humanity, until they are all dead, leaving behind a world that remains dark and unhealed—the ending scene of the film is just like the opening scene, both are in darkness, and there are no subtitles.

A thought arose from the silence, like when you suddenly realize the tragic truth of life at some point in your daily life—He Yu understood that these characters with absurd fates were all candidates like them.

In the movie, everyone has their own way of dying, whether it's an accident or the most tragic way. But no matter how complicated or strange the process is, it's all set up for them by the people behind the scenes in the discarded drafts, the way they were supposed to die.

He Yu had always had this feeling, whether in the past or now when he held the power of "all things"—he could always sense that there was an enormous monster in it. The countless fragmented clues, the fleeting images of death, the bizarre lyrics, the garbage-like offerings in specific locations, and the meaningless deaths one after another—they all vaguely pointed towards something, yet could not surface.

He and 659 sat motionless in the dark theater for quite a while.

The latter still felt good about himself, believing that apart from the fact that some clueless people barged in halfway through, it was actually a very meaningful "educational film".

It's certainly not the kind of low-budget horror movie that'll scare you to death, but will only make you feel colder to the bone the more you think about it—that's pretty much what the world looks like in his eyes, a cruel and chilling cage that rots from the inside out.

Therefore, 659 must spare no expense to complete what he wanted to do at the very beginning of the story, right before facing reality.

And through his efforts, it did indeed become a perfect date.

Now, besides the memories of torturing Mingze, 659 has another experience he will never forget—living a day as equals in place of two extreme species.

These are things that a monster like him would never obtain in his entire life, so he would treasure them carefully.

A voice suddenly came from behind, a young man complaining, "That was terrifying! It was just a projection of a cosmic object. But according to the person behind it, this story should be about over by now."

"Let me see how far the death list has gone—that guy being slowly turned into mincemeat in the shredder, that poor soul whose whole family died before, and there are still a dozen or so candidates, their methods of dying are almost all planned out..."

“No, weren’t they already dead? Did that bastard Dorui correct the timeline again?” another person said.

659 made a quotation mark gesture towards He Yu and explained in a low voice, "Because we watched the scrapped movie by the person behind it, we were able to see the 'reality' beyond reality."

"However, they are unaware that we can already observe each other."

He nodded, understanding what the other person meant.

Those story supervisors who are always outside the Great Firewall are now sitting around in the back of the theater, discussing how the plot should develop, some of them looking at the data screens.

They continued, "Tsk, am I hallucinating? Why is the person behind this appearing so often lately? I was fucking thinking this idiot was going to quit. That cosmic thing almost jumped out of the screen just now. If this becomes a plot hole, the editors will kill us!"

"Don't worry, it still hasn't broken out. By the way... look at the callback logs, that thing eventually returned to the Void. It must have gone through the 05 permission before it came, directly crossing the deep space stronghold. That NNA is highly suspicious, I guess she sent it."

"The only thing that could have happened to this book so far is the work of her and Earlier," said a slightly older supervisor. "Luckily, 659's character design is quite absurd; if it weren't for his help—"

The person who was speaking stopped, shifted their gaze to them, gave a meaningful smile, and said, "Look, they've finished watching the movie now. Should we continue monitoring them later?"

He Yu was somewhat annoyed by the way these idiots were teasing him and 659, but at this moment he didn't think much of it and just pretended not to hear it.

"Then we have to appreciate the charm of gender-swapped 659—he even wore stockings, I'm so excited!" the person said more enthusiastically. "It makes them seem like such a loving and intimate couple."

"You know what, I was actually really annoyed by any love stories in male-oriented novels at first," another monitoring staff member chimed in, "but if it's just the two of them, it actually seems kind of nice."

"Exactly, exactly, the strong are invincible, okay?"

"What about the other candidates? Kill them off according to the original plot?"

"What else can we do? Anyway, they'll never be able to resist the erosion of the second wave layer in their lifetime."

After the plot was repaired, the group prepared to leave. At the same time, He Yu and 659 also stood up, and the group walked out together.

A middle-aged man who appeared to be the team leader stared at their tomb and speculated with his colleague beside him, "Do you think the person behind this might one day pull a fast one and separate them?"

He Yu paused for a moment, and just then, he saw 659 stop, turn around and whistle at them, then say, "Then he probably won't have that chance."

The group of people were immediately stunned.

"I brought him here to end it all."

"Right here, right now."
