January 25, 10:45.
He Yu lay on the sofa, carefree as he gnawed on a chicken foot. Someone sat opposite him, wearing a decent trench coat. He wondered what had happened to this guy, as his clothes were covered in blood, as if he had just escaped from a horror movie.
The villa has four floors in total. The first floor is where they gathered. It is simply furnished. There is only a long table in the center of the hall, on which are placed a few boxes of snacks, candies and bottled water. There is not even a decent bottle of wine.
Within five minutes of arriving, He Yu noticed that everyone except himself looked dead. Some were sighing, while others were huddled in corners sobbing, their voices almost hoarse.
"Aren't you going to order anything?"
He looked up, observing with interest the only somewhat normal man—E05, Qiu Leng.
At this moment, no one would think of stuffing their stomach, except themselves.
"I... I'm sorry, I don't have much of an appetite." Qiu Leng forced a smile, then picked up a bag of cookies that had already been opened on the table and handed it to He Yu: "Eat more, at least you won't starve to death later."
"Okay, thanks." He Yu gave him a friendly smile as much as he could, then took the cookie and put it all in his mouth.
No wonder Yu Yu called them cheap expendable goods; they were clearly being sent to their deaths without any decent food prepared for them.
"What kind of mess did you make to get here?"
Qiu Leng rubbed his face and awkwardly tried to strike up a conversation. He was originally supposed to be locked up in the solitary confinement room for life, but Eoubs remembered that there were still many E-level members who hadn't been utilized this month, so they were brought here for so-called "research work".
"I don't know the reason either."
He Yu felt his mouth was parched. He grabbed a bottle of water, took a couple of gulps, and asked, "Putting that aside for now, why haven't I seen any information?"
"Information?" Qiu Leng was taken aback at first, then suddenly realized, "Oh... members of our level only have the opportunity to review the operation information before departure. Didn't you look at it?"
"Otherwise, why would I ask you?"
It sounds ridiculous, but he really didn't expect that Yu Yu's C-level privileges would disappear so suddenly.
"I have nothing to do either, so it won't hurt to talk to you."
Qiu Leng dragged the sofa and moved next to He Yu. He seemed to really enjoy having someone to chat with, as if it could relieve his stress.
"We were sent here to control the two anomalous populations, 251 and 252."
"Their danger level is EDS. Have you ever played board games? 251 is a board game called Box Girl, which has 3-5 players. The rules are that one of us plays the Box Girl, and the rest of us play the visitors. The visitors have to move around the map. Each room has a box, and the Box Girl, items, and the Box Girl's skills will appear in these boxes. We can choose to open the box, and if the Box Girl appears, then we die."
"This is outrageous! You just die like that?" He Yu was choked by the thought; it was probably too late to run now.
"Yes, that's what the data says." Qiu Leng smiled bitterly: "Moreover, the records show that there have been a total of fifteen cases of the 'box girl,' and none of them have resulted in any survivors."
"What is 252?"
"It is an anomalous species that appeared along with the Box Girl. Its physical form is very strange. It is actually an old-fashioned game console that can start without batteries. When 252 is running, all games played within its range will be specialized."
Qiu Leng paused for a moment, then added, fearing He Yu might not understand, "For example, in Star Wars, if 252 detects this thing, then it's probably the end of the world."
He Yu gasped, saying nothing, probably trying to process the overwhelming amount of information.
With him and Qiu Leng now included, there were four people in the villa playing a game of grabbing the girl. The other two were almost crying themselves to death and were now hugging each other and confiding in each other.
He Yu felt he should join them in crying and wailing, because his luck was just too bad, his new teammates were too surprising, like the guy in front of him with impure intentions, and the others were so stupid that he didn't know what to say.
After crying his fill, someone stood up, poured himself a bottle of water, and pretended to be drinking some fine wine. He loudly accused Eoubs of being inhumane, saying that he had only released a few pitiful forbidden subjects and never expected to be forcibly sent into such an absurd experiment.
It seems he would rather be executed by the Tribunal than be killed by an unknown entity.
"Why do you look so unsurprised?"
Qiu Leng casually grabbed a bag of strawberry-flavored cookies, slowly opened it, and started eating: "Are you an insider?"
“I think this is obvious.” He Yu took one from his hand and pointed to the identity plaques of the same rank as theirs: “Just say what you want to say, considering you shared information with me.”
“Actually, I’ve participated in two missions like this before.” Qiu Leng paused, then said in a heavy tone, “You’re the first one to arrive at a different time than us.”
"And then?" He Yu felt he hadn't eaten enough, so he opened his own bag again. Damn it, who knows how much 659 eats every day? He was starting to get hungry again.
Qiu Lengting continued, "I know you must be different from us, right? Have you ever heard of the concept of hidden taboos? I am one of those E-level personnel."
He Yu quickly finished the biscuit, shook his head, and continued looking for some small gadgets that looked pretty good.
